Brian , hello from the city of Auckland, New Zealand .Your thoughts are very emotive and thought provoking about the whole DP situation in the USA . In NZ we are aghast and appalled by the DP. New Zealand abolished the DP in the 1950's .You are a very deep thinker indeed, The meals look fantastic , kind regards Robbo:)

david veilleux Gods word says we are the descendent of Adam and inherited Adams fallen nature and sin. We are morally imperfect because of our ancestry. Like a moral earthly judge God must judge what opposes His perfect will. So how does God judge our sin and also enable us to get to a perfect sinless heaven. God entered His creation in the person of Jesus. Being God, Jesus was able to live a sinless perfect life as a human being, one of us. Through Jesus perfect sacrifice on the cross God placed all our sin upon Him. Through simple faith in Jesus sacrifice we can be now made sinless in Gods sight and enter a perfect heaven. Why was God willing to suffer and died as a human on our behalf, love!
david veilleux Yes God owns what He’s created as you do. You see things a bit backwards. It’s not so much good people in the hands of an angry God but more wicked fallen sinners in the hands of a just and holy God. I don’t think you would have any moral problem wiping out families of rats under your house. Have you noticed how wicked corrupt and evil this world is. It’s like you only saw the person being put to death without knowing the backstory of rape and murder. But out of Gods mercy and love for wretched evil sinners God was willing to come suffer and die on a cross for all your sins. So God got what He didn’t deserve, punished for your sin and you got what you didn’t deserve, free entry into heaven through simple faith in your savour Jesus. Sadly most sinners forfeit Gods amazing gift through unbelief of Gods word. “The word not being mixed with faith profits you nothing” You’re not going to claim your prize if you don’t believe your ticket is genuine. Maybe you should start thanking God. God likes people who are grateful! As do most parents {
@david veilleux God can do whatever he wants...he's the sole creator of this universe. It's pride like you speak that caused Lucifer to defect from God. Everything that is spoken of in the Bible happened, good and bad. We're on a fallen Earth buddy, a physical manifestation of Hell. In the end God does not want you to suffer. All he wants is you to put away your Earthly pride and say you believe by true faith in Him and our willing to serve him willfully for all eternity. Look at all these ancient people's man...they all believed in a creator of the universe. He exists my friend. Meanwhile Lucifer is a truly otherworldly spirit and will do anything to take you away from God. Your soul is real, your salvation is real. All you need is faith in Him. I'm sure this looks crazy to you man but I felt the same way as you. I really did, I said the same things you did and then my eyes were opened to the Truth. I really hope you find God man. And I'm not saying this acted like I'm high and mighty cause I found God. I'm nothing. I'm a sinner like everyone else who was blessed to have found God and saw how much he truly cares about us. I only want the same for others.
I love the fact that he always empathised with the immates and tried his best to provide them comfort with his food at their final moments. I hope he lives a great life now and he acheives his dreams.

i think this an intersection of human emotion and reality. Something deeply human about food that connects us. Also imprisonement of humans (right or wrong), killing each other (deserved or not, idk?), and redemption/forgiveness. I dont think it matters how you feel watching this video, but as long as you feel seomething
Man this was so interesting and something I've never really thought about! The mental & emotional dilemma of wanting to cook as best as you can, for someone's last meal in their earthly life but also thinking about those left behind by the murderers. But I COMMEND him for doing his job to the best of his ability. And him praying over the food, for the man's soul, that's the most precious thing I've ever seen in my LIFE!
It's so strange to feel so calm while listening to someone talk about such a devastating topic. He truly has a way with words and the intimacy of the interview made it feel like I was sitting right there at the kitchen bench
This just goes to show that there is humanity and mercy in places you'd never think of. A prison kitchen seems like the last place to look for, yet there it was. Thank you for your kind words. I am currently negotiating a deal with several networks in Los Angeles who want to do my life story in a mini series. Pray for me to choose the one that will not edit out my faith and give God the Glory for the platform that provided me a way to share my Lord and His Grace and forgiveness. Yes I understand the feelings and views of those who don't think a final meal is deserved because the victims of these often heinous crimes did not get a chance to have one before being murdered. I used to feel the same way until I was talking one morning with my friend Manny Lopez who was the porter that cleaned the death chamber after executions. He told me that when he was cleaning the witness rooms in the death house he had to wipe down the viewing window where the man who had been executed had his mother and daughter there to witness him being put to death. Manny said, and I quote, " Brian there was smeared makeup, dried tears, hand prints, lipstick all over the glass where his mama and daughter witnessed him being killed. I could almost feel their anguish and pain," Manny added. So no matter what crime that person had done, he was still loved by someone. These family members became victims also when the crime had been committed sentencing them to a life of finger pointing and shame...a life of whispers behind their backs that they were the family members of the one who had murdered whomever. The trauma they had to suffer nobody ever thinks about. So the last meal requests I did out of respect for these forgotten victims...the families of the executed. And our God on the cross told the one thief hanging beside Him that before the day was over he would join Him in Paradise. Genuine last minute confession that Jesus Christ IS Lord can and does happen. Forgiveness abounds. God is not a respecter of persons. Amen
Since watching this listening to Brian explain what went in and how he made the last meals. My respect for Brian and his cooking and for this documentary. Cannot wait to hear more from himself soon
