The imagination I think uses generative processes when attempting to remember a piece of music, this is probably one reason why people listen to the same piece of music repeatedly because what they hear in the imagination departs from the original listening experience. musical composition itself is primarily a generative process. what we are seeing now is technology is replicating the process so the listener is really hearing multiple iterations of partial fragments of a composition that never truly gets finalized. This has huge implications for copyright once Ai/generative processes become the norm rather than the exception.
