in 1996 I thought that the PUP put their Socialism before their Loyalism during Drumcree & Lower Ormeau disputes, Billy Wright was ostracised and that was wrong, but now 20 years later we need a Loyalist Workers Party, the war is over, we need to match SF in politics
David Ervine was the first of a group of loyalists who actually impressed me (a Fenian). Himself and Billy Hutchinson were like a breath of fresh air at the time they started to get media exposure. Real working class loyalists devoid of the knuckle-dragging stupidity of Orangeism, and the Paisleyites. But no, their own community rejected their best advocates in generations. I really don't understand it. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam.
I am from a different tradition however have 100% respect for the ervine family. I believe in real equality + real respect for both traditions. Faugh a’ Ballagh (Fág an Bealach) - an Irish language moto + slogan which unites both traditions.
Working class loyalists will never grow up and will continue to vote for upper class unionists. They are not capable of thinking for themselves, poor fools.
