I just got the one for bass. I started testing it with my precision bass. Then I tried it with my jazz bass. Fantastic! Then I held my breath and hooked it up to my Alembic with active electronics. 2x fantastic! No hiss, buzz, distortion-just pure clean sound. I could swear my basses sounded better with these things then with a cord. I got the $49 as I don’t really need the higher priced one. Most of the under $100 products suck for bass but the Brian Fay’s, for bass, is worth double what they cost. The BF-CABLE is a nice accessory considering the form factor of the units. I would highly recommend this product for bass players.

I bought this knowing quite nothing about wireless systems one y ago. Searching for a cheap one just to try and could fit on those 540s and jem carved plugs. It went over my expectations for the price. Furthermore the system had a freeze and got stuck on start with all the lights on and no way to shut off just a few days after but they replaced immediately without neither asking for a send back of the defective device. From that day no issues at all also really pleased for the prompt reply they gave me.

Love your reviews. Spot on. The Brian Fay system intrigues me. Love the idea of the charging case. We have been using the UHF band SWIFF units after your recommendations. From our experiences the 2.4 GHz units from Boss and from Xvive are essentially not reliable enough to use, simply too much local interference at gigs has caused too many untimely dropouts and sonic splats. I am using K and K passive pickups on my Gibson acoustic. The SWIFF units works great with the active pickups on our Taylors, but comes across as thin sounding on the Gibson with K and K passive. Have you tried the Brian Fay unit on a passive pick up like the K and K (1 Meg impedance)?

great vid as always. I guess the odd freq range is a plus - no congestion and maybe less prone to dropping out. I am successfully using the Lekato and the Brian Fay together with zero issues. And just a tip - if you plug the BF into your pedalboard, do so via a 1/4" right angle adapter to make it lay close to the board - it will help you avoid stepping on it :)

Hi Scott, i Purchased the BF-1 with the charging case, it is an amazing unit.. very sturdy indeed ... and the charging case is an absolute must... the sound is pure class and sounds great, unfortunately i too am having micro dropouts even as close as 3 meters from the receiver.. i took your advice and got a second backup wireless the Swiff Audio WS-70 which is rock solid but doesn't sound as good as the BF-1.

Hey Scott! thank you for your superb review of the Brian Fay Bf-1 wireless guitar system. you answered some questions and concerns I have about them. I agree with you on the charging case (BF-1) option. I have the BF-1 lite. but I wil probably upgrade to the choice of charging case. i have experienced the signal drop out when I am playing a gig. its only for a mili-second and not noticeable. to the audience. so I was wondering if you had anything to say about that. you sort of covered it with the 5 channel explaination. thank you for your hard work.BTW what model is that guitar on your right. the accoustic with the strings spread out behind the bidge? thanks again.

My Babicz :) I love that guitar! And for these cheap ones, I’ve just come to accept that sometimes you get a drop out with them. That’s just a part of it. My high end sennheisers do not do that. But the cheap ones occasionally will

I actually bought several of those cord adapter strap things for using my line6 Go transmitter. I dont like how that strap extender thing flops around, so it seems that they need a little more ergonomic thought.

Thank you! I like both. The battery life on this one in the case (and transmitter) is better. The NUX bends which fits better for my guitar systems. The BF doesn’t auto shut off, which is nice. Both are good options. BF is cheaper too. My NUX is actually my backup wireless with one guitar and the BF is a backup wireless for my other guitar. That’s kind of what I did. I usually use the sennheiser when I can. But I do still use both of these for smaller gigs still. They both are great.

hey Scott - Great video! Quick question. Bass player in our band just bought these. All of our other wireless units (guitars, IEM, Vocals) are Sennheiser G4. Bass paper is playing through Fractal Audio FM3. We are getting a slight hum or buzz when notes are played. It's noticeable. No noise when notes not being played. We have tried different instruments but we still get the noise. Any thoughts? I have isolated the noise to the Brian Fay unit. Thanks! keep up the great videos!

Oh, another thing I saw on the Brian Fay site is that if your active bass is clipping, then use the lollipop and it does something to clean it up. I know you can explain it better, Scott.

You know I guess for the other one that was for noise/buzz to get it away from the active pickup a little bit. So I guess I was thinking of that… NOT for clipping. So I’m actually not sure how it prevents clipping. Anyone know the answer to this who can chime in?

Without the right angle adapter, I’m terrified setting my bass in a guitar stand it might get broken. There’s no way I’d have it without 1 or 2 of those. Also I’d be concerned it’d get whacked off anyway. There should be a bundle with the unit of choice and 1 or 2 of the adapters. Other than that, I think it’s a winner. That might be one of your top 3? Maybe you should summarize your top 3 in some of the reviews: budget buy, all around best under $100, and professional. Just my .05 worth!

Would it work connecting the reciever to my line of analog effect pedals?... and what if you add to that question the fact that, instead of a guitar, I will try to test it with a Mic....Why?, because Im looking for wireless sistems to amplify Harmonica (generally played throught Sure sm57.). These replace any instrument cable. So guitar to pedalboard cable, and/or pedal to amp cable. Whichever you want 👍

I’m way too old school. In my day these were just a gimmick. I don’t think I could ever get passed that. Direct signal is just too reliable. Interesting to see how they have improved over the years. I’d be willing to bet my ears would find Something at a loss here that I would prefer the direct signal. I’m sure it would be a convenience for some live bands.

Hey, everyone has their thing musically. If you prefer cables, then that’s cool 👍 However, this adds to my point about my tone philosophy. I’m working on a video about it, and one of the parts will be about how we go into a “tone comparison” video with a bias in mind. Which is why I always just say “if it sounds good use it.” But again, that’s just me. This system really does sound great and there is no tone loss to my ears

Say Scott....Amazon had a 15minute sale time when you put this unit in your cart. The sale is $41 bux for 15 minutes. Wholy crap. Hard to pass up. Just hope it's not somebody's failed return. I have never seen this sale technique on Amazon.
