It’s hard to gauge because he could have been doing that to tank tf out of the schedule. The only one I blame in this entire situation is the owner because you cannot reasonably assess the talent of your coach or players if ask the coach to tank the season, only to fire him after he tanks for you, possibly ruining his career or robbing the league of proper assessment of his talent as a coach. Same with players, you put the career of players on the line as well. So I blame the owner and the league for rewarding horrible teams with high draft picks. They should only give a lottery to teams that slightly miss out on the playoffs. People will still fake the system if they really want a potential generational player, but being that close to competing for a trophy may convince them otherwise down the stretch.

Flo is a great defensive mind with an excellent scheme and really good at personnel but he hasn’t been hired as a head coach because he can’t build an offensive staff, and when the offense doesn’t have a lot of success he takes it out on everyone else. I’m glad to hear that he’s done some reflection but as a Dolphins fan even though we had two back to back winning seasons (no playoff appearances) I’m glad he’s out of the building.
@VonJay
@VonJay 22 дня назад
It’s kind of murky because of the tanking allegations but Flo’s defense was some of the worst I’ve seen as a dolphins fan. I remember having arguments about this with my fantasy draft buddies and actually putting together the stats of his tenure to where his defense gave up 32ppg to teams with winning records. But when Tua played with scraps, with no offensive line and a revolving door of offensive coordinators, not to mention hiring coaches from within, he contributed to most of Flo’s wins. I have no idea why people keep calling Flo a great or even decent defensive mind, the only argument I can see against that is the tanking scheme.

He had the most points allowed in 2019. Was 6th in points allowed in 2020. And 17th in points allowed in 21. But my main point was that he gave up 32ppg to winning teams in his entire tenure. He never made it to top 14 defense in his tenure. Was as low as 3rd worst defense, to 13th worst, to fourteenth worst. Saying he got better every season though teams almost put up almost 6000 yards every season isn’t saying much. He wasn’t a good coach or defensive coach period.

@@VonJay Well as a counterpoint, in 2019 Minkah Fitzpatrick, Kiko Alonso, and Robert Quinn were all traded by the 2nd week of the season. That's a fairly big hit to your defensive power. Also when your best DB is Jamal Perry, DE is Zach Siegler, LB is Jerome Baker, SS Eric Rowe, and D-line consists of David Godchaux, Christian Wilkins, and Taco Charlton you're in trouble. Also, some of that doesn't deal with Flores specifically. I mean the game they lost to the Bills in week 17 2021, they allowed 56 points partially because the Dolphins offense had 4 turnovers (1 was a pick-6) and there was a ST TD on an 84 yard punt return. That same season Week 1 against the patriots, the dolphins allowed 21 points and lost due to 3 INTs from Tua. This is just to show how 2 of those games against winning teams were much more to do with the offense than the defense. Also, the irony is that Flores went 10-6 and 9-8 and missed the playoffs only for McDaniels to go to 9-8 in 2021 and make the playoffs. And if you want to say that Flores wasn't a good HC at the time that's fine, but he is definitley a good defensive coach

Bruh please stop,go look at the coach Tua had in college 😑and Tua’s father is already hard on him enough so if Flores could break him down like that then that should tell you how shitty he treated Tua 😑like put two and Two together, y’all talk like it’s tough love but there was no love in any message Brian gave Tua so please with that tough shit and old school bull shit. I bet you if brown got the QB he wanted he wouldn’t dare say the shit he said to Tua

Any of those players that are okay with whatever Brian Flores is coaching and teaching they're all on defense let me know one offensive player and quarterback that can say the same thing that the defensive players are saying about Brian Flores I'll wait... right exactly Brian Flores needs to stay on the defensive side of the ball he is not a head coach he is not head coach material he's where he should be and I don't think he would ever be a head coach in this NFL ever again

@deremiahderrick6292

A 38 year old coach totally mishandled his relationship with the 21 year old QB that is supposed to be the future of the franchise. Even with everything else that was going on that could play a part in Flores' behavior, you still can't justify disrespecting a kid who's new to the league and trying to get acclimated. Tua didn't control the decision to replace Fitz, Tua didn't ask you to tank. Tua was still learning the playbook. And you didn't embrace him, you downed him. Not a good look but I'm sure this coach/player dynamic happens a lot. And with all that being said, Tua you gotta keep that inhouse baby boy. This should have been resolved in private, in my opinion.

flores went behiond greers back a crafted a deal with watsons/agent/texas and went to ross to tell him he got the deal done and then ross fired himk.... these facts the media leaves out... flores cant be trusted.... and that why today his ego took the biggest hit of his life, and his reaction proves he has learned from his treatment of tua and other players like x, van noy, phillips, etc... theres was an incident that flores was ripping a player after a game and tua stood up to flores and told him you can treat peole like that and they got into a shouting match... no one liked flores, players, staff, coaches.... only reason his in the league is because he sued the nfl...

in Flores defense - let's recap the fact that Tua didnt know the playbook in season one on top of Flores being forced to replace Fitz mid-season when the team was doing good to "see if the new kid could play". He could not. Flores got the boot, Miami invested heavily into the Offense with Hill, Waddle and brought in McDaniel and then installed a timing based offense that capitalizes on having the two fastest players probably in the NFL. You couldn't gift wrap success more for a QB if you tried.
