There is absolutely no way that someone comes home from a trip without their significant other or long time gf or fiance and nobody asks how they are, where they are, what's going on, etc. Especially the little kids if they were so close with her, i.e. "where's Aunt Gabby?" But her and her husband are BOTH lying because at one point they tell protestors outside the home that they are upsetting the kids and that they had to find out that "aunt Gabby died" because they heard the protestors shouting, but then her husband says that what they are doing is pointless because they can't even hear them inside. Neither of them get teary eyed, cry, become emotional or anything, they just get angry that they are "inconvenienced" nothing about how they are sorry they couldn't mourn for Gabby, how they miss her, etc. Brian had to have told them something about Gabby OR he was still in possession of Gabby's phone and text them pretending to be her as a means to throw them off and back up his lie, which, they may not be sharing all that because when they catch him it will play into the interrogation and trial. I do think that lawyer is a slime all though too, says he represents the Laundrie family and now he says he doesn't represent Cassie after he blatantly said the other day that Cassie just misspoke, how can you speak for her and say she misspoke if you don't represent her? Well if your son was a missing suspected of murder, would you still be out there looking? Would you not feel ashamed and non deserving of public sympathy? What would you have said for example " Hey, what great parents looking for their son" or still bash them for a life they did not chose? I think they didnt go out because they have both shame and respect.

This case is very complex and I don’t think analyzing the families by what they have done is fair. The petito family has been asked multiple times what their relation to the laundrie family was like and they’ve said that they can’t comment on that. So both family have withdrawn information and or taken actions that have made the other family react in similar ways. Also, these two young people weren’t very forthcoming either. Brian is not particularly loquacious and gabby, Im not sure she would have gone on a cross country trip with someone that was a threat to her life. Assuming the pathology of killers is the same should never be a thing and in the court of public opinion they always do that; but it’s also not okay to assume the victims pathology. This case may never be fully understood especially if both surviving families refuse to talk and be forthcoming about the kid they raised, that’s ultimately what it boils down to here.
