A Hartford police officer stated, "You don't have the right to question me about what we're doing out here...Freedom of speech does not include questioning me, it doesn't work like that."

No that’s what the status quo thinks. The smart thing to do regardless of how u look is to lawyer up and shut ur mouth period. Lots of people have been screwed by the police for saying things they may have later realized wasn’t true but they made a mistake and didn’t intentionally lie. When it comes to the law regardless of innocence or guilt when the law comes knocking you find an attorney.

this case is the only one ive come across where there is no cctv picking them up , this day and age most places havecctv especialy stores etc , weve only had eye witnesess , all very strange ,unless the cops are holding that info tight to there chests,.

That is what I was wondering as well. Not much information on her during this time. She didn't post a whole lot nor are there any people who cone forth saying they talked to her during this time.

@@jtmagx I never said it was anyone other than Gabby that dropped him or picked him up. If it was Gabby, then those are facts that are important to the timeline of when she was last seen. If it wasn’t Gabby, that information is important too and gives another potential witness to interview. It’s called investigating thoroughly, which is important when solving a mystery.

Not defending the POS but my hubby and I still occassionally spend time apart even though we are very happily together. Since they had been gone a long time on their trip he could easily say "She wanted to be with her faimly". It's honestly one of the few things that isnt strange to me. His sister and her family werent with him a long time at the camp. A few hours. A few hours away from a significant other isnt a sign of something bad. His paretns though? They were together for DAYS. Thats sus.

Yes, I agree. It is only an assumption, and most of us have no idea what goes on behind the doors of sometimes your own extended family or close friends’ homes. Mine was major dysfunctional…only to learn over 55 years later that the dysfunction was narcissistic. Mostly, I believe as children are going through it and growing up in a severely dysfunctional home, we may not even realize it because we don’t have anything to compare it to, and we are just not sophisticated enough.

Gabby and Brian were seen leaving a hotel near SLC on the morning of the 24th. Presumably Gabby dropped him off and was there when he got back. She was see alive on the 27th at lunch time, so likely killed on the 27th or 28th. So Brian leaves for a week and kills her within 4 days of being back. I imagine her mindset changed while he was gone and he didn't like it, that lead to anger and fighting and she was killed.

Interestingly, she preferred to be with her best friend rather than her parents, perhaps because they too were tired of this horrible and abusive relationship between a sadistic man and a masochistic girl, through no fault of her own (probably something from her early childhood) Unfortunately, the last chance she had to be rescued was in an incident with the police in Moab, but she did not tell them the whole truth. Believe me, her parents know the whole truth about this violent relationship, which has been going on AND OFF since high school days and so have his parents, but both sides choose not to talk.

The police that stopped them should be held responsible for not recognizing how in trouble Gabby obviously was. She was clearly in extreme distress. They should have been separated for a year, right then and there. His behavior was way too placating and obvious, the fact the cops fell for that is poor management, poor training, and cost a life, no heroes in this case. Families now destroyed, that was too big a mistake to make.

@@ARolls-dd2zd Gabby was either lying her head off during the police encounter or she is the one who initiated that physical violence and Brian's sister said that she had lived with the couple for a year where there were no signs of violence at all. Clearly, things had gotten violent between them but she was saying things like that the fight was about dirt on his feet and things like that and it might have been relatively new for them to get physically violent. Her best friend didn't say that she was and neither did either of the families and they were living there for over a year, though Brian was hiking for 3 months and then they had months of van life. They were looking at her for scars and bruises but the two of them were rock climbing and sliding down sand dunes and she was pretty scar-free even with the lifestyle they were living. It definitely escalated but it doesn't sound like he had been abusing her for the whole time.

He went to storage unit because they wanted to not have that bill because they wanted to have a longer trip together. I think she had mental health issues and he had anger and control issues. His sister said that she and her husband and kids lived with them for a year and they never saw them being violent with each other. They were definitely spiraling out of control on the trip and should have been ending it early instead of trying to figure out how to extend it.

We can only speculate on all of this. What we saw was a girl who blamed herself for Brian’s anger. That’s a classic sign of someone who is being abused ,but is afraid . He took her keys, locked her out of her van ,grabbed her face and kept telling her to shut up. She told the policeman that. That’s only with that short video of questions. There might be a lot more that went on, but Brian never owned up to his behavior,which can be typical with abusers . He didn’t describe what he had done to her,it’s the girl’s fault. This certainly is not good to hear ,he caused quite a rumpus over the bill etc. at the restaurant. She went in to apologize to them about Brian. This is classic,will there ever be an absolute to how this effected their trip? No,even if they find him,many men find a reason for their reactions. Not good. Let’s not forget who’s dead!

Yeah goddamn storage units are expensive! I have to get 2 at $130 each (10x30) to fit a 1400 sq foot home that’s fully furnished. I then got a 3rd one just to make sure I could stay organized & walk in all of them versus not being able to find anything as I needed it with everything stacked high and/or falling over! Since it’s month to month typically, I got a 30 day notice rates were increasing to $150. After that, I also gave my notice to move out but the house I signed a lease for got caught up in litigation over a death of the owner so I HAD to move my shit because someone was already moving into 2 of them since I said I would be out. There’s a short window of time if you’re behind on rent to make good otherwise they keep your shit. But units aren’t cheap! 5x10 was still $70! And I live in a place where everyone has basements LOL

Even as sister in laws there is no reason they should necessarily be close or like each other. They would have been related through a contract. That's what I don't understand, why the parents haven't been charged with obstruction of justice. An obstruction charge seems logical, especially as more and more information comes out., and possibly even more charges IF they aided in his cover-up or helping/helped him elude from capture. It's one thing to remain silent and allow an attorney to do the speaking for you, but you cannot help someone, even your own child, elude and escape from justice. No person that's innocent is going to elude LE, refuse to speak to her parents about anything, and go on the run.
