The fact that Brian would make up such a ridiculous story, making himself out to be some kind of merciful person with good intentions just solidifies how narcissistic he actually was.

What this is, is called "Deathbed Testimony". Very powerful testimony. Why would anybody make up a story like this when he knew that he was going to end his life also? Doesn't make sense. It would make better sense if he wrote this intending on "beating the rap" if he were arrested and went to court never intending to kill himself.

@@kawikajones9436 you better keep your day job and don't try to be a detective. First he put on a great performance when they were pulled over by untrained cops.He played them. He made her look unstable after people saw him hitting her. He killed her and made sure to take off in HER camper, used HER CREDIT CARD. He ran back to the lions den to his parents who like him would put their sick heads together to plot and plan a way to get AWAY with it. He sent texes to her parents! His family gid her camper and allowed her family to worry about her but, STILL did not contact her family or the cops. He and his sick family decided to play happy families and go on a holiday. The cops should have arrested him at his family home. But, he sneaked off when the RU-vid and nation put the pressure on. The fbi got involved. He had no stone then to hide under and instead of doing the right thing he acted the coward and coupled with a few idiots who thought he was innocent and went blaming the victim THAT finally made him realize what a piece of work he was and faced with the reality that his parents were NOT going to advise him well and he realized he was just like them he did the deed to himself . He probably was faced with her sweet innocent face crying after he mentally and physically breaking her YET she still tried to protect him after they were pulled over. But, like ALL THE OTHER MURDERERS AND SADISTS AND SERIAL KILLERS ONCE CAUGHT, DETECTED OR CORNERED...They will end their life rather than face the music. I wonder did the two campers found dead get justice too! Who killed them!?

The parents of Brian - regardless of how awful things were becoming - also had their moments to do the right thing. And they have had those opportunities since Day 1. They did nothing but cover for a murder and their son's actions. Now this notebook. How horrid for Gabby's family. Are they putting this out there for some chance at reasonable doubt ? Trying for some vindication ? Pathetic. That is the only word I will ever have for Brian, his parents, sister, brother in law - extended others - PATHETIC.

@@annwithaplan9766 I remember Cassie Laundrie saying that she was trying to get in touch with her parents but they wouldn't speak to her or take her calls. Unless that was a lie, it seems like she was kept in the dark. Possibly because she's a good person who would have done the right thing and told the police. Brian’s “confession” story seems highly improbable. It’s amazing how Brian the narcissistic fiancé murderer just doubled down. His story mimics the domestic violence incident in Utah. He deflected blame & responsibility. He basically blamed Gabby. It’s like he is blaming Gabby for him hitting her & killing her. He makes it about him & shows little remorse. He basically shifted the blame to Gabby in the story. This mercy killing story is ridiculous. It’s just more likely he exploded in a fit of rage & strangled her. This story is nothing but a pathetic & disgusting attempt to garner pity, deflect blame & ultimately dishonor Gabby one more time. All of his selfish actions that totally disregarded Gabby basically served Brian while they desecrated Gabby. His actions indicate culpability & murder not some far fetched injury & mercy killing. He has once again dishonored Gabby & her family. Ever once of his actions & choices helped him while basically totally disregarding the supposed love of his life Gabby. That sad part about this twisted story from Brian is that it causes harm once again to Gabby’s family & does little in the way of help or closure. Pathetic.

Thank you for this JB. I’ve followed this story for a while now, and Brian’s letter has somehow made me respect him even less. A single wrong decision in the heat of the moment is not necessarily evil, but the coldness, the cruelty of simply leaving her body out in the wilderness tells us what we all need to know about the kind of man he was and the way he treated Gabby, who he claims to love. I know none of us can know how we’d react in any situation, but I guarantee that if a good person truly loved someone and they made a ‘mistake’ in this manner, there is no way they would leave their body out in the cold, steal their belongings, fake messages to their family, and not offer even the slightest consolation to her loved ones. I believe any of us are capable of making a mistake. But this wasn’t just one mistake. This was calculated evil. It was scheming and deceptive, and most of all it disrespected the life of the woman he claimed to love. His final act was to leave her there. That isn’t love. Then to add that ridiculous story which tries to paint himself as a hero? He was clearly a deeply disturbed individual and I’m just so sorry that a sweet, kind soul like Gabby gave him her love. She deserved so much better. The only positive left is that his journal has unmasked him as the abusive bully he was. I believe he thought he’d be able to fool us all. Unfortunately for him, he has made himself into more of a monster in the eyes of the world.

I believe it was said that those pictures with his nephews were taken during an earlier camping trip. Some sai that those pictures appeared on his sisters social media page months before everything took place. Also Brian ran off and disappeared before Gabby’s body was found so he wasn’t aware that she had been found. However In either care I do believe you are correct that Brian Laundrie only became suicidal when his story began to unravel, her parents had reported her missing, and police were showing up at his door. He was too cowardly to face the consequences of his actions and too much of a narcissist to even take ownership of what he had done in the mess of a confession letter he wrote, telling lie and lie instead of at least giving her family some true answers to what happened. My heart breaks for her family! Just hope in some way they are able to find some kind of closure.

He admits his family knew that he killed her as he stated in his handwritten suicide note (25/6/2022), 'My family were surprised when they heard the news.' (paraphrasing) So he was alive, he told his parents, then he killed himself!!! So when Gabbys parents were calling them, pleading with them, the Laundries knew she was lying in the middle of the wilderness, maybe being eaten by scavengers, as he then penned in this confession he wanted to happen to him at the Macahatcie creek when he offed himself! If it wasn't for the Red and Bethune YT footage of their van's camera picking up on the road verge Gabby's van and eventually her body was found there. He could've got away with it? That was why Brian and his family were so happy on holiday camping with his family up until 10th September. Then Gabbys parents started looking for her. Calling the Laundries wanting a get together for the both of them to be found safe. Then the video from Red and Bethune is revealed on YT and then Brian takes himself off to the Mackahatchie creek and we know the rest.... These people are immoral, sick individuals to leave a family with no answers? The Laundries thought they'd got away with it. @@MsPopeye65 it does seem to be that way. The fact that Brian would or could tell such a story to his parents believing that this will be understood by my parents - that seems to tell alot about their parenting skills. Gabby's step dad said it well- if my child did wrong they are going to face the wrong done and pay the price (somewhat of what he said, not his exact words but thinking back with reasonable accuracy) I was that way with my children. It's not healthy for any person to bury or cover up their sin but rather to face it turn away from wrong doing and make every attempt to make the wrong right. God's word says that a person will not prosper if the cover up their sin. I think the word prosper has a much larger range than financial but probably would affect every aspect of life. Also for a murderer God's word says "let no man stay him" I do know though that parents are not to turn their back on their children but with that is parental counsel, the acknowledgement of the sin and the turning away from it. There is more - God's word says "do not deal treacherously with the wife of your youth or God won't listen to your prayers" God is everyones hope of salvation. If He won't listen to your prayers- you have no true help- only the hope that someday He might look on me with His favor once again. That's really rough and very frightening. I would not want to be in his shoes. One thing I do

For me, it’s difficult to embrace this new letter. The reason, I remember the stops by the LEO because of calls about Brian abusing Gabby on the road trip. Different people calling about him being the aggressor .I also remember that he denied having a phone. Then using her phone after her death and using monies. Then there’s the Autopsy’s report of strangulation with throttling. That seems harsh. Only God knows the truth!.

When her body was located, didn’t law enforcement say that it took longer than they anticipated because she was located in an area that’s pretty sparse, and not too many people found camping in that area appealing?……….*BUT* there was a fresh fire pit next to her, and above her head was a small area of land that had been cleared of debris, showing signs that a small tent had recently been there? So it looks like she was found right where they had set up their campsite. And they also said that the van was parked less than 5 minutes away from her body. Soooo….even if she DID fall into the creek (in AUGUST. Sure it gets cold on this side of the country, but a creek in August shouldn’t wholly be responsible for a mercy killing after falling in. Planes have crashed in 3 feet of snow & survivors didn’t die of hypothermia. They died because people ate them. But still. A quick fall in a creek? I dunno, man) she couldn’t just curl up in the tent while he walked to the van? She was terrified that the fire would go out before he got back? 10 MINUTES, MAX. He’d be back with a phone & they could call for help. Throw an extra long on that fire, it’ll be fine. This is the stupidest lie anyone has told since Johnnie Cochran said “if the glove don’t fit, you must acquit.”

SCHIZOPHRENIA & DENIAL: Brian and his family refused to accept a diagnosis of schizophrenia. They thought they could avoid life’s compromises such a diagnosis necessitated. Brian's unmedicated psychotic episodes typically increased in frequency and severity. Brian’s last episode of uncontrollable delusional rage resulting in the death of Gabby forced him past the point of no return. When Gabby died, Brian was unable to bounce back to his previous life of denying he had an uncontrollable mental illness. His parents shared this delusion with Brian, hoping his relationship with Gabby would ;cure him; and somehow eliminate his schizophrenic symptoms and outbursts. Brian could not take Gabby's body with him or notify the authorities. He really did love Gabby when he was not actively under the control of his oppressive insanity. He was unable to live with the reality that he killed the person he loved. Once the delusion of Gabby's betraying him (or whatever his voices told him) was neutralized, his only option was to kill himself. This was the only justice he could recognize in his delusional world. He could not live without Gabby, and he could not live knowing he was without her due to his own demonic-controlled actions. The presence of Gabby's body would be a present, unwelcome reminder of what he had done during his entire trip home. This is why he left her behind. Brian needed to return to his family and bring everything he could bring, as much as possible, back to the way it was before he left for the road trip with Gabby. The only thing missing when he arrived home was Gabby. THE PRESENCE OF HER DEAD BODY WOULD CAUSE ALL SORTS OF COMPLICATIONS to interfere with Brian's final actions. It would cause complications to the Laundrie family, interfering with the final actions they had to take to bring an end to this long-running nightmare. There were no interfering officials, no media, no grieving or demanding Petitos, at their doorstep, no messy details needing to be dealt with. His mind was made up, but he had to share this with his parents, as they had known from the onset of his illness the difficulties he'd have to face, with or without a diagnosis. Brian's return home and the actions of he and his family appeared normal, except for the problem of Gabby's absence. This life of denial was how Brian and his family lived since the realization of schizophrenia became the family's reality. They lived a life denying there was a problem they could not overcome themselves. This explains what most people see as the bizarre behavior of Brian and his family, behaving as if all was normal. Their ignoring the Petito family fits in perfectly with their need to keep all normal appearances, until Brian could bring about the needed justice only he could do. Brian and his family discussed all possible options. The note his mother wrote to him likely offered to help him carry out whatever action he would decide to take. This was a very unusual family to say the least. They apparently shared the most intimate details of Brian's mental illness since the symptoms became apparent. Brian's decision to avoid diagnosis and medication was likely one supported by his parents. As shocking as Gabby's death was to the Laundries, it wasn't a total surprise to them. It was one of the possibilities they considered when they made the decision to allow Brian a chance to live a normal untreated, unmedicated life with the woman he fell in love with, hoping "love conquers all". Brian's suicide was expected to his parents. They may have provided him with the weapon he used and perhaps medication to allow him to pull the trigger. His father knew where to find him. Brian's final action allowed his body to be exposed to the elements in the same way Gabby's body was exposed. This was his final action of "togetherness", in death, an expression of his love for the woman he murdered. I don't think the Petito's can win their case against the Laundries, who meant no harm to them. The Laundies did the only thing they could do under the circumstances they created. I hope this trial goes to court to somehow bring about an awareness of schizophrenia and the dangers of ignoring mental illness, thinking people will "grow out of it" without treatment.

I do find it a weird jump to go from loving boyfriend who wants to spend the rest of his life with Gabby...right to cold blooded, calculated killer. But I'm just "pondering." @@mickdonedee1 Yup. I believe their own hopes for this trip of a lifetime...and her desire to become a travel vlogger... superseded their ability to think clearly and realize that this was getting very messy and very very quickly. The close quarters were way too overwhelming for them both. I've seen travel vloggers state that even under the best circumstances (or relationships) you need to have tactics in place to take moments to separate and cool off bc the close quarters CAN cause plenty of tension. So yeah I don't think either planned ahead for this and it became too overwhelming, and neither was mature enough to recognize how bad it was or how to deal with it. Their initial hopes for this fantastic trip were still outweighing their ability to recognize that they could/should not continue simply based on "their dream trip." And it led to this awful end

@@mcpeewee68 You summed it up perfectly. Relationships need a safety release valve to release tension from time to time. They did spend a week apart in Salt Lake City when Brian returned to Florida.
