He basically pushed Sacha Baron Cohen out of Bohemian rhapsody movie (cohen indicated that it was Brian who fired him) cause Brian wanted a "family friendly glossed over" movie focusing on the band (more or less ignoring taboo topics in order to appeal wider audiences) and S.B. Cohen wanted a movie about Freddie and his outrageous life, homosexuality, drugs etc

One of the best innovative guitarist ever. I saw Queen at tge Spectrum in Philadelphia in 1979. I waved to Brian whenhe was on stage, and he waved back to me.
Met Mr May a few years ago at an astronomy event at Jodrel Bank & he is an incredibly nice bloke, he didn't need to spend time talking to my partner & me but he did. What a lovely fella.
Back in late 1991, maybe a month before Freddie died, Brian was making the radio station rounds on Long Island, NY and he stopped at WBAB. When he came out of the radio station and went to his limo, me and 2 huge Queen fans were waiting outside, and he could not have been nicer. The nicest rock star I ever met
I remember this. It was on Dutch tv. Instead of talking about the new show and new material, they were only asking about Bohemian Rhapsody. They wanted him to watch some band perform it live.
Brian May is honest and very professional and dignified. The show was his priority, and he stated this outright. He also seems very kind and thoughtful. This phantom interviewer was totally unprepared. I totally support Brian here. A softspoken and lovely guy.
They've always been. Queen have been the most gracious rock band to ever exist and perhaps Freddie set that standard, because he was always so nice and generous but also fearless.
I was insanely fortunate to be able to meet Mr. May while working at a venue where he performed and the guy could not have been any nicer. He took the time to thank most of the staff (of all levels), introduce himself, and let us know his appreciation for our work. I told him I had been a fan since age 8, I was about 35 at the time and he had nothing but nice things to say about that and how much he appreciated the fans. A truly classy man.
Guys, let’s not jump to conclusions here. Maybe she is a midget, and she meant it in the literal sense. But if that is the case then unfortunately that’s just one goal she won’t ever reach.. I’ve heard they’re good at cartwheels though, so every cloud and all of that ☺️
in a situation where he couldve just stormed out without a word, he instead gave the interviewer another chance and then extremely politely walked away. hes a hella nice dude

I love how he gracefully states that a boundary was crossed and still being very understanding towards the interviewer. And the Dutch really appreciate people being direct. When you are polite and compassionate about it, they will melt. Because they are often quite rude in their directness. The interviewer was known for hard hitting gotcha interviews but you can hear how matches Brian in compusure and being reasonable. Brian May was being a true gentleman whilst not taking crap.
@@EnglishInfidelthe interview was supposed to be about the tour Queen were on. The interviewer repeatedly tried to talk about bohemian rhapsody instead. I think he tried to show Brian a video of some random local band performing the song.
There is a interview with Brian on You Tube ,he talks about Rory Gallagher ,he is so heartbreaking with is words about Rory,he says he learned from him
The best part is cut out. He goes to walk away. Turns around, apologies for walking out, turns to wal away again. Comes back again to shake the guys hand. Haven't seen in eons, think it happened a few more time. It was the most respectful, polite and kind 'interview walk out" in history!!! I just love Sir Dr Bri!!!
That’s how you display elegance and class under a very difficult circumstance from a reporter who clearly didn’t properly prepare for his interview with a major celebrity and highly visible public figure. Good for Brian May.
That's what I've been thinking. Looking through the comments and trying to find the context because I figured maybe somebody heard the rest of it, I see tons of posts about how polite and cool Brian is, but all of them make no mention of what it was that offended him. For all I know he took offense at something trivial and meaningless, although he might have had a great reason for being pissed off, but apparently nobody else knows either and they all just assume that the interviewer was in the wrong. It's sad that people are so anxious to have an opinion that they form one and put it out there based on nothing.
@@roddo1955You didn't add any clarity whatsoever. It's obvious from the clip he was offended by a question. The point is we don't know what the question was that offended him. So how can you have an opinion about it if you don't know what it was?
Please. I love this interview so much (can't explain why) Does anybody know where I can find the full version. Not the 2 minutes but the 10 or so minutes long.
Brian’s manager told the interviewer that Brian would not be happy if asked about the clip the interviewer showed Brian. Brian didn’t want to be in a bad head space before the show. That’s why he said “ all I care about is the show” and “I don’t want to sit here watching clips”. He’d already seen the clip, which got his back up. The clip was part of the movie where Brian… you know what.
Class. Manners. Always showing respect but knowing how to draw boundaries. Drawing a clear boundary can be done respectfully. Doing so reveals one’s own self respect and fortitude by not allowing the provocation or provocateur to pull you down to being less than you are.
They were showing bits of tape of Freddie when the band was about to perform for the first time since his passing. This was a big moment for them and all the fans who were watching and it was reduced to watching clips of Freddie's interviews. That's not only rude but I imagine it also to be very painful.
@@roddo1955and the interviewer knew that Brian wouldn’t want to watch clips. He says « your manager told me this » but he did it anyway. Brian was polite and shook his hand at the end. Very professional.
@@bobscratchett5346 yup. I noticed that too. I hate it when you politely object to something and the person goes:"yes I understand but....." trying to cross boundaries you already set. Brian handled that in a most British way. Correctly, clearly, politely and definite.
