Brian Rose vs Carson Jones vacant WBC International Light Middleweight title 14th February 2015 Winter Gardens, Blackpool, Lancashire, United Kingdom Courtesy of Sky Sports, 14th February 2015
shit just watched this for the first time. damn that was controversial ! rose was looking sharp until that punch! yh he was hurt but he was only wobbled because he decided to stay up instead of going down and recovering. i think rose was more than capable of coming bk and winning that fight
Picked what he thought was a soft touch opponent and get smashed, only to throw a temper tantrum in his dressing room afterwards. Funniest thing I've seen so far this year. Stoppage was pretty poor tbh but there was thirty seconds left in the round and Jones' punches were going through Rose's guard like it wasn't there, so he probably would have been KOed anyway. Bad stoppage but I've seen far worse.
Agreed, Jones has some grit. He gave Brook hell, with his resolve and made Brook work in their first fight. Theirs no way Rose has the same kind of tenacity. He's a middle of the road fighter. Also, I think the commentators were biased.
This is a confusing action and exactly why the top American boxers have not, do not and will not go to the UK to fight. These terrible ref's even do this to their own guys? Imagine Ian Jon Smith being given the assignment of past matches like Diego 'Chico' Corrales (R.I.P) and Jose Luis Castillo?
Rose was holding on and was all over the place. Good decision for me. Jim Watt is a tosser!! If hearns thinks Froch v groves 1 was a good decision then what does he think of this!!
He always contradicts himself does Jim Watt. If the shoe was on the other foot, and it was Carson Jones who was in distress and had been stopped like this, then Jim Watt would have said this was a perfectly good stoppage. Jim is not consistent enough, he changes his mind to suit the home town fighter, or the fighter that is contracted to Matchroom. The stoppage looked premature, however Jones hurt him, and Rose's legs were gone. IJL looked in Rose's eyes as well. The fighters safety is paramount, and Carson would have KO'd Rose no doubt had IJL not stepped in. Rose's disappointment was down to the fact that he was embarrassed by a first round defeat in his home town.
Abdul Waheed Shakir Definitely mate. I upload UK based fights when I can, I just can't get away with any shows from the U.S, ones that are on HBO, or Showtime etc. I have another channel, SmoothFlow Boxing 2, which I use for longer uploads. They capped my upload time to 15 mins for this channel.
Honestly. I did not see the fight. But I read on a website that Rose got stopped in the first round, then I saw that Ian John Lewis was the ref and then it all made sense. This ref has a history of bad stoppage. UK refs almost crap their pants when fighter is hurt. OK. Jones was hurt but not badly, not as if this was the 11th round of hard fight. Awful, Awful, Awful stoppage. You could even see by the crowd, they were stunned.
Rose can't punch or take a punch !! He was hurt badly ! The ref rightly stopped it! Rose will get destroyed in the rematch if there is one! Brian the bum rose haha
I think a ref should be given 30 seconds to decide its someones carrer and life at steak hhmmm hungry lol but seriously then refs wont be critized as much lets say he let that go on n rose got brain damage your be calling for his head on a stake
I've watched this fight half a dozen times now...at first, I believed it was a correct stoppage because he was obviously badly hurt and not defending himself. There was many unanswered punches and he never took a knee, so it looked the right decision because we don't want to see anyone get hurt. But on the other hand, maybe he did deserve a chance to see out the round, having started so well...Jones has a good engine on him and probably would have kept up the pressure but having been in with the likes of Andrade, perhaps Rose would have got himself together and got back to long-range boxing. A rematch will give us the answers
Thank you for uploading. Although it seemed an early stoppage, I thought Rose was classless as he exited the ring. Didn't do boxing any favours with that behaviour. He should've behaved with dignity, said what he needed to say at the interview, let Hearn arrange a rematch and then resolve it in the ring!
Thanks for watching. I agree with that. I thought the stoppage was premature, but I think Jones would have KO'd him had it not been stopped. I'd see the rematch, there seems to be a demand for it, if only from Brian Rose and Sky.
Honestly , rose can only blame himself , if he seriously believes he can be world level , first he should know when to clinch or take a knee , second he should not be getting rocked like that in the first round against a welterweight , long story short Carson Jones is no joke either. He was the first one to give Kell Brook a tough fight and even the second fight Kell was careful and boxed smart because he knows Jones is a crafty veteran.
Got to say i thought Carson would win. I even bet on it and got a nice return but people say how foreign boxers get robbed in the UK all the time but the fight was stopped in favour of the American.
Hats off to Jones. He ate 4 big shots, one which rocked him at 02:45. but he kept his composure. Rose didn't do anything wrong, he was just in there with a classy operator and text book finisher. lest we forget, Jones was one fight away from considering retirement. The stoppage is debatable, however, it's better to stop a fight a punch too soon, than a punch too late. Rose may have gotten bigger/more muscular/power, but he'll never be the same after the beating he took from Andrade.
There's nothing I hate more about in boxing then when I start thinking the ref should stop this fight and then the boxer gets hit with a brutal shot that puts them down bad, it happened in Mike Lee fight last night.
doug daughtry Agreed, i take nothing away from Ian John Lewis. He's a brilliant referee and competent on any stage, whether it be a domestic or world title fight. In fact he refereed the Pascal-Hopkins re-match..
J2dADiaspora Ian John Lewis is one of the worst refs in the business, look at the Vitali-Briggs fight he should had stopped it but instead he let it go.
DoctorBruceBanner I never said he was incapable of a bad decision. I'm sure he has had his blunders in the past, what referee hasn't. But with regards to this fight, I think he was spot on. All points aside, I respect your opinion.
He did slip a little he was hurt and hanging on but no doubt in my mind he could carry on that was abit bad i see the ref he wasent going to stop it but then he looked into roses eyes and did so there must of been some wobbling eyes look closley when it gets stopped he takes two close looks not one
Ian Jon Smith has a history of early stoppages. As a referee he lacks confidence. On the other hand, Rose could/should have taken a knee. Thanks for the upload!
He forgot .....the other guy has 26-10 record. ...that's a great record in many combat sports... If the shoe was on the other foot.. no one would have reported this..
4:13 Rose got hit, was totally wobbling, continued receiving shots and never answered Carson's punches, may be that's why ref considered to stop the fight. I think it's not a bad decision for the ref, but yeah, i felt it kind of ugly and unsatisfying for the fight... but hey, let them do the rematch in Oklahoma.
Carson was a very underrated fighter, he took Kell Brook to the trenches in their first fight. This was up at Middleweight I think, so two divisions above his normal fighting weight. A very, very tough man.
the reply starting 6.38, does kind of justify the stoppage. Every full shot was landing. if he was on the ropes that would have been messy. saying that, i seriously don't know how refs can jump in like that after all of the criticism they get when they do.
Rose was getting knocked out anyway regardless of the ref stepping in, what's the point in allowing him to get his head punched in when it's clear he was on the verge of being defenceless. The biased interview questions at the end with Jones too was cringeworthy where the interviewer is repeatedly trying to get Jones to comment on ' how unfair ' the stoppage was. UK boxers and promoters go on about how dodgy the decisions can be in America, but it's not any better over here. That was no great injustice last night, they need to get over it and just come again, but I don't see rose winning in a rematch anyway
Poor decision by the ref, Rose was hurt but he should of been a given a chance, Rose unfortunately is not World Class, Jones is a B class fighter and is not even in the top 10 in the world.
IMO the ring looked tiny maybe because a small hall but the ring looked well small for size as soon as rose knew he couldnt hurt carson when jones landed one punch on rose he was shocked n suprised by his power and thought he shouod block n hold on idc what anyone says i think jones wouod of won this rose is just not good enough
i dont blame the ref. if they dont intervene in those cases anything could potentially happen, we dont want another case of when nigel benn gave that american brain damage and paralyzed him.
Could have let it go a little longer, but Rose was completely out on his feet and one more big shot would have done it...but for me, he should have had the chance
If the referee was this strict then amir Kahn would kahn would have alot of losses khan wobble 10 times worse than this and he still continues this referee is crap
Terrible stoppage but glad to see Carson Jones back on track. He lives about 300 miles from my area but has fought a lot of fights here so he is looked upon as a home town boy. Jones is a class act he immediately offered a re-match...don't see that too often.
cartert2 And Carson never complains about travelling to the UK either. People know him in the UK now, he's a good fighter. Struggled in the 2nd Brook fight, as the class told, but in the first, he gave Kell nightmares.
Thanks for the upload, Smoothflow Boxing. You just made it possible for us on this side of the world to see this fight. Leading into this fight I'd said on here on another video that I thought Brian Rose was going to lose this fight. However, I was rightly concerned about the referee and judges giving unfair advantage to Brian Rose as is often the case when people go to the UK to fight local fighters. I am not sure what needs to be done about British referees and judges to clean this up. Carson Jones is not a fighter you see as a world champion. Yes he's got the years and experience but you just know he's going to have a hard time getting there. With the level of competition at such level I am not too sure Brian Rose gets there either. However, this was a very important fight in that direction for Brian Rose, and of course for Carson Jones too. I see a rematch in not long a time from now but I am afraid that Brian Rose still will not get past Carson Jones
Ohh myy i been looking for this you must be daaa mannn smooth im always back with you lol at 5:38am baby got me up lol did you upload thurs ringside mate? Your my number one for youtube now booooom selector mr smooooth ridef lol ;)
worst decision i have seen, he would got in the corner or on the ropes tucked himself up and regained his composure, all that happened were his legs went a little. He looked like Amir Khan after somebody coughed on his chin
