“One of the nicest guys. Meet him one time and he remembers your name.” That’s a high honor and true. He makes everyone he meets feel like the star. And he wrecked it in field for years.
lol, great video JoeRod. Darren Woodson is one of the best COMPLETE safeties! Could cover, hit, and speed. Him not being in the hall of fame is something the voters should be ashamed of.
That is true about Woodson I met him in Scottsdale Arizona in 1996 where they were there for the Super Bowl. Met him again in 2005 at the gym I worked at in Carrollton Texas and he walked up to me and said I remember you remember talking to you at the mall in Scottsdale before the Super Bowl. I was surprised.
There is no excuse for Darren Woodson not being in the Hall of Fame. He was The Backbone of The Cowboys Defense when They Won Three Super Bowls. He is as Big a Reason as any Single Player that They Won Three Super Bowls in Four Years.
There’s a few other Cowboys who should be in: Chuck Howley (5x all pro, only SB MVP from a losing team...it’s a joke he’s not already in) Drew Pearson (only 1970s all decade team member from the offense not in) Ralph Neely (1960s all decade team) Harvey Martin (1970s all decade team, defensive player of the year, SB MVP, had 23 sacks in a season before NFL kept official count) I’d even say Mark Stepnoski (1990s all decade team) although I’d put Jeff Saturday and Tom Nalen in first. Also Jerry needs to put Jimmy Johnson, Martin, Neely, Stepnoski, Ware, and Witten in the ring of honor!
I love Darren, he was a hero of mine. We went to the same HS so my coaches would tell us so many stories about him and his teammates. But he's not the only one to be overlooked. Ed Too Tall Jones isn't in the HOF
the epitome of a HALL OF FAMER...Darren Woodson was the very best safety his whole career...no one is even close. i dont care how anyone feels about my opinion, ya dig
I got to hold one of his sub rings my senior year at the Vale lol. He and the other dirty westside boys are genuinely nice people. The other two being Phillipe Sparks and Kevin Galbreath
It's difficult to comprehend. Darren Woodson was a great player on the field and a stand-up guy off the field. He's a classy guy from what I can remember growing up and watching the Cowboys DST. There's absolutely no excuse for him not to be in the HOF. None whatsoever.
There are only nine safeties in the hall of fame, and one of those is Mel Renfro who played CB most of his career. Darren was certainly the Cowboys all time best safety, but he may have to wait a while, considering how the hall doesn't seem to like safeties. The last one to make it in was Ronnie Lott, twenty years ago, and he was a 9 time all pro.
Unfortunately safety is one of the positions that always gets overlooked. Most of the NFL All-Decade Team safeties are not in the HOF. I'm talking guys who were the best in the league at their position for an entire era and some of them from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's aren't in the hall. Heck, the best safety the Cowboys ever had before Darren (Cliff Harris) is also a championship winning, multi all pro, multi pro bowl HOF snub.
Woodson was juuust before my time. His prime anyway, so I didn't see him at his best. But I feel like his resume is well known. And his character is always lauded. Doesn't make sense, him not being in the hall.
CMJ look at collection of men not in Cowboys ring of honor Harvey Martin,Jimmy Johnson ( we know) why, Eric Williams , Cornell Green passed due ( at Safety)!
