I have seen quite a few comments in places since last night knocking Brian's voice. Last night he did really well. But you kow what? BrIan Wilson is alive. He is performing. And is continues to demonstrate that he is a true genius. Given what he has been through in his life, he could just be staying inside his house hiding from the world. It is a true blessing to be able to see him in person and to hear him sing. And I keep on having to say that his band is just incredible.
He sounds in really good voice, especially compared to one or two performances in recent years. Thank God for his existence and continued appetite to share his music.
I guess Brian was thinking ''Lets still see if i can do it''. It's not as strong as it was used to be but to even have a bit of left at the age of 79 is nothing short of amazing. Most singers around his age don't even have it unless you're Cliff Richard and Barry Gibb.
We have to be thankful that Brian (and Carl) Wilson existed at all and created such a masterpiece. Carl sang lead on the original. One can't expect a man 80 years old to sound like he (or his brother) did at 26 years old.
This isn’t an easy song to sing- unusual intervals- movement throughout the scale- BrIan did this really well- having a year off seems to have given a jolt to his voice!
The break has done him good. When he performed God Only Knows at home last year during lockdown he sang in a much softer voice and managed to sing it much better. It's good to see him still going.
Awesome that Brian went for that falsetto at 1:46 and 1:50! He’s sounding better and more in tune than he has in the last few years. Can’t wait to see him in October!
It was a pretty standard greatest hits show. Deeper cuts included Long Promised Road, It’s OK, Feel Flows, Add Some Music to your Day and Wake the World. Crowd was quite large and very appreciative!!
