You just have to be a natural...maybe a genius child to sing those broadway songs. I wouldn't even be able to remember all those fluctuations and the time they are used. Repeating, repeating, repeating is the only way to do this. She also has the steady high pitched voice...Bravo! Ready for the stage!
To all the mean comments on here...it's okay to be jealous. We have all been jealous before. Just don't post your jealousy on the comment section okay? Have you ever thought that Brianna might be reading the comments? How do you think that makes her feel? She has a beautiful voice and she would be PERFECT as Glinda. Also she is NOT ugly. Goodbye.
That happened, a small girl had a melt down in the british version and people made really really mean comments, and ten years later the 16 year old girl game on and gave them what for !! comments on these sites live a long time be sure what you type is what you want here in 8 years time
Really enjoyed this however I didn't like it when she kept stopping. Stopped flow of song and no need for that "finale. Wasn't her fault but whoever added all those unnecessary parts butcher the song. She was also a bit slow on parts when the catches her breath.
I still come back to this video every now and then, and still absolutely love it! I can't imagine a more perfect song than Popular to open the finals of a show like Australia's Got Talent!
Trust me she is no Galinda my friend is way better for that part then she is. My friend wants to be Galinda and I want to be Elphaba, I can see me up on the stage as Elphaba I can see my friend as Galinda but I can not see Brianna Bishop.
Keira Combs Then why isn't your friend on the show? Let alone as a finalist? People are too full of themselves and most people who post shit comments like this, about 99.99999% of those people, in all actuality SUCK!!!! So, if you want to call someone out, put someone down, whatever, prove it, don't just say it. She would be a PERFECT Galinda, if you knew anything about Broadway or this show you would know that...goodbye.
Some of the nasty comments on here scream jealousy, she's a little girl for gods sake and she's got a cracking pair of pipes on her! Her vocals are fantastic
Now that I've shaken off the shock and the 'isn't that too much??' I can now say that *that* was pretty awesome! She garbled some of the words of the song, but she did it so perfectly, I doubt most people noticed. ^_^
ok i dont think people get that this isnt a performance for her to gain vote, the producers wanted her to do this, to sorta kick off the finale and look back through out the season. Also people have to realise that she is young, her voice is still maturing AND she is dinging difficult songs. i think shes very talented, not arrogant or cocky, and will be Big in musical theatre, maybe even hit broadway if she hasnt yet.
She isn't ugly. You need to have some respect, that was rude and arrogant. It's her voice, not her singing from her nose, just how she sings. Cry me a river, build a bridge and GET OVER IT. She is a beautiful, talented young girl.
whoever says it cant be lip sync cause you can hear her breathe.. well - you know they can record her own voice beforehand, right?^^ She can breathe on a recording too. It's just seriously obvious that sometimes she isnt opening her mouth far enough to say certain words as clearly ^^
Well I'm 13 and my voice isn't high. I sing soprano.. but In general.. I have a normal/ deepishhh voice. Not a lot of 13 year olds have a high pitched voice. I would say maybe 11 (just to be safe) :)
+Ella W everyone has a different singing voice, it's possible to have a high pitch voice like that especially when your older. people that are in there 30s or 40s have singing voice that hit those high pitch notes, it's just very rare to have it.
She is as adorable as she is talented. I love the humor and the personality that radiates through her performances. Australia discovered her on television and now, thanks to You Tube, so too can the world. She has star quality and I truly expect and look forward to seeing her on Broadway someday.
Holy shit she just owned that stage! Well until Grant came on ;) A very talented girl, I look forward to seeing her in some big productions as the years go on
Thanks everyone for putting in a good word for me and haha i wasn't lip-syncing, im very humble! i really appreciate every one who's giving such heart warming comments it makes me feel really happy inside and that everyone is still commenting PLEASEEs don't stop!! haha go on my channel BriBstar!! and suggest songs and comment!! xxxxx bye and thanks xx
@xeroxephyr Just 'cause she's acting, doesn't mean there's an underlying ego. Do you know her personally or are you just going off what you see? I admit that I am but damn. Anyways, I musical theatre is SHIT! By the way, when she entered, I don't believe she entered as an ACTRESS.
@skaterdbl It's called acting!. If you saw "Wicked" you would understand her character, She's supposed to be full of herself. Regardless of what you and I think she has a career musical theater. Look up "popular" on you tube and you'll see how well she captured the character
@Thanatos659 Of course Kristen Chenoweth is better, I doubt if anyone will argue with you there (BTW I love Chenowyth. This kid is only only 13? That's an unfair comparison. She's still developing. For her age she is talented.
I love the line of what the juge woman said. when the guy in the karate sute says... Its me mom and dad!!. That was so wrong, so thats why i say Yes... Then de guy next to her spits his water out xD
I have acted both at an amateur level & professionally... that's why I'm able to back my opinion up so well. From personal experience. I never said it was simple, I specifically stated that if she is looking to pursue a career in professional performance she needs to be able to take professional criticism. I also stated my opinion that the interruptions took away from her performance. She has a beautiful voice for her age, but she needs to work on her high notes. Never was I putting her down.
The difference between a professional and an amatuer on all levels of employment or ability, is that the pro is paid, and the amatuer is not. SIMPLE! Public performance whether in front of a camera, on stage or behind a microphone is not simple. I have been involved in commercial media for 32 years. No matter how hard you try there is always those that basically have more opinion than contribution that will try and put you down. Here is my script or teleprompt. You give it a go! GET A LIFE!
@sbbw98 If you want to see the difference, try and find Jackie singing Con te Partira the first time (on her own) and the second time (with Brightman). She didn't sing the tough bit, and the stuff she did sing was massively better than it had been, and Jackie was good before. If you can find the interviews with Sarah you can tell, behind the polite comments, she really doesn't think it was good for her to be pushing herself like that.
@sbbw98 Actually, she has probably been taught not to force out the big notes yet. Sarah Brightman, politely, got really stressed about how Jackie Evancho was going to ruin her voice by forcing the big notes before she was actually developed enough to do them properly. Her LUNGS simply aren't big enough yet, and the things you have to do to make up for that are not good for the singing voice. The kid is good, and will no doubt manage to get into musical theater.
They have very high-tech cameras on TV shows, you don't normally see TV shows recorded with an I-Phone :P Either way,I don't see what you mean by "failing", if your talking about the lip synchronization with her dance moves,I haven't seen anyone complain.Everyone is only complaining about her audition's lip sync.
I know very well about musical theatre, as I do it myself. In fact this is one of my favourite songs to sing. Now that I have looked at the other songs I realise how good she is, so I apologise to both her and all her fans. I just personally don't like what she's done here and how she acts about it. I much prefer her audition. That is just my opinion...
She's also being judged on a professionally produced television show by not only audience members, but professionals. If she wants to be on Broadway, she's going to be criticized the moment she steps on stage, regardless of her age. She will be treated as a professional and in turn treated like an adult just like everyone else that steps foot on that stage.
I really don't think they should put her through. Her voice still needs to grow. I'm sure with the help of a voice teacher, her voice will soon be fantastic. But for now she definitely has got to work on some things. But she did a great job with the role that GLINDA plays, but still the voice thing... Congratz on making it so far though sweetheart!
@lmfaoemu I'm definitely not jealous... I'm just stating my opinion. She did great on the audition, and yes, she does have an amazing voice. However, I feel like this performance wasn't as great. She seemed like she was begging for the audience's appeal, and was trying to do too many flashy effects (TV... Chorus line... etc.) and it took away from her singing.
I honestly didn't care for this one... She did way better during the audition, in my opinion. This seemed waaay too forced, and although the ending was kind of cool in it's creativity, I didn't care for that many people on stage, and she didn't nail the ending note how I hoped she would. It kind of made me cringe.
@ShowjumpingChick94 No I don't know her personally, but watching her and her father at the audition. How politely she talks to the judges. I can respect you not liking Musical Theatre, but chill out. If she's singing a song from a musical, she's playing the character who performs the song. The act might not be Brianna: The Actress, but it's still musical Theatre.
Brianna has a VERY bright future ahead of her! Whether it's in musical theater or just singing, she's got it made! Broadway make room for her cause she's taking center stage!!!
she was playing a part. if anything she got so much better at playing the part, which yes, is very cocky. this performance wouldnt be very fun if she didnt play that part of the song up. she was fantastic, and even if she did get a bit cockier, she has a right to be.
@Davidboomsplat Not all of us are. I loved it and thought she should of won and im sure im not the onl one. Aussies arent all about hip hop and stuff even though justice crew did win but did you see them dance? Its aweomsme. But obviously not as good as brianna bishop she was just AMAZING!!!
She is not big headed. Its called Acting. Its something performers do on stage during a musical or play. This song is from wicked. So she is ACTING the part of Glinda, who was the typical girly girl. Who was also popular. SHE IS ACTING! GET OVER IT! Also, shes fucking brilliant.
@ShowjumpingChick94 You really don't get it, do you? She's ACTING. She's an ACTRESS, it's musical THEATRE, she doesn't have an ego, her CHARACTER does. This song is from the musical Wicked, and she captured the character beautifully.
It's because she is acting along with singing, like all good Musical theatre performers do and the character required for this song is cocky, unfortunately people are unable to distinguish between the actor and the character.
She did hit the end note, its just that she flipped from her throat in the way she sings the rest of the song (which sounds great on her) to her "face" where it resonated more like she sings in her version of The Prayer.
I'd love to see the people paying her out get up and do half as well as she did,. Do you judge actors and actresses as being "up themselves" when they play a character? To all those having a go at her: Grow up and get a clue
People who think she is failing it's the camera she wasn't doing anything wrong the camera just was picking up the sound before the movement I've tested this with a camera and someone singing
Actually she's British and in the UK they have what I think is called The West End, their version of "Broadway" and I would be very surprised if this child doesn't end up there.
that horrific last note. She is not that good, she did not get Galinda's charactor correct. I have done this song numerous times with a vocal trainer to work out my kinks now its her turn
Listen to her version of rain on my parade and the prayer before you comment so carelessly. She does musical theatre, and it's called acting and having confidence in yourself.
@sbbw98 oh okay, yeah I understand what your saying. I thought your were just talking before about when she says popular. I dunno, I don't really think her voice does that but yeah :)
I actually HAVE seen Wicked. Many times actually. Even played a frickin' part in it. Kristen Chenoweth sang it much more with her gut. And it's not my fault she's ugly...
@xshowjumper94x Exactly; G(a)linda's character is a stuck-up ditz... I doubt this girl is conceited in real life. Plus, if you had that talent, you'd have confidence too.
@snappie01234 I don't think so. It was just little words here and there, like, for example, "I reminde them on their own behalf to think of." She said "My behalf."
It irks me how she sounds like she think she really is the most popular person ever, other than that she has a good voice... For this song... Probably not others
I hope she didn't win, Her voice in no where near good enough, It's squeaky and annoying. She has ok tonal quality but, is not good enough to win a competition.
Eurgh I hate how they did the production, why didn't they just do it like in Wicked or in a proper flowing way without the breaks and dancers and LIPSYNCING
why did she sing the same song for the audition and grandfinal? shouldn't she be showing that she can sing a variety of songs? she is really good though ;)
this is a fantastic performance - she BECAME the character and for all these people saying she's 'big-headed'; the song requires her to be big-headed - it's called ACTING! well done Brianna! PS - did she win?!
