Could you possibly do a video on setting up your string line as you had it in this video? Interested in where you have it pinned at the extremes. Thanks.
Интересное видео.....я сам каменщик....но....блоки клал только стоя....но не плашмя !!!!...интересный вариант....нодо запомнить))) Спасибо за видео...мне понравилось)))
Is there a particular term for this sort of layout, instead of it being the traditional vertical block layout? I ask cos I am putting a planning application together for a retaining wall, which will have a fence fitted to the top and this is the sort of layout I need to do, to give me the sufficient depth of the block to bolt down the fence post clamps. Thanks for the clear video too on the setup
hi how many block would i need to build a wall in this same method ? it will be 30 feet long and 7 feet high, and how often would you recommend putting pillars in for strength ? great informative vids by the way. when travelling through wales i always feel sorry for the poor bugger that put all those dry stone walls up hundreds of feet up mountains and all straight too,😅
@@steveSmith-pd4st morter mix far too strong when the masonary expands as it wll do the mortar wont allow that and cracks in the blocks could appear a gauged 5 to 1 ratio would be better
Hi, love the video. I'm about to tackle my first wall, same blocks laying flat , about 13 long 5 high. I have only ordered one bulk bag of builders sand. Will that be enough and how many bags of cement do you think I will need? Thank you in advance 👍
@@thewelshbuilder2454 thank you very much for the reply. We bought plasticiser already. Was going to mix by hand but now renting a mixer out over the weekend. Again thank you for the reply 👍👍
@@thewelshbuilder2454 Thanks mate. How can i contact you? I have an existing fence with poured concrete underneath and concrete posts but I want to build a block wall instead. The concrete looks slightly uneven so not sure if I need new footings? Ideally I’d like to send you some pictures so you can have a look
I need to build a small retaining wall to prevent around 10l of soli moving would i need a concrete base or could i build up off a thick bed of morter on top of clay soil. Its about 2.5 metres long with max 3 breeze block high
This is brilliant 👌 Would this method be sufficient for a 14 metre by 1 metre retaining wall? Would it need reinforced or just as you done it, looks solid. Cheers n good luck.
Getting the concrete footings level is the most important then every course you build check with a level and if its out of level put more or less on one side to get levels correct 👍
@@thewelshbuilder2454 , I ain't no bricky but going to attempt to build my own wall. I have the foundation in . if I have a block at each side ,how will I know if they are right level with each other before putting a string line up . Hope this makes sense
You don't need to be to fussy with the first course but once you've done it put a level in the middle of the wall and then lift the level left or right till the bubble is level and that tells you which side to put more bricklaying mix under the block or brick
Hintherw I have a question for you if I gave u a size like a pond size would u be able to tell me how many blocks I would need I want to build the same was your doing the wall
Hi, can you please give a name for the particular/type of blocks that must used to build a single floor extension side wall please. I’ve been hearing this and that and it’s confusing me. Is there a particular block, that has a name that should be used? Someone suggested. ‘breathe blocks’…..is that suitable ? Thanks.
