Bridge Academy's International Conference on Indian Fine Arts 

Dear Friends,
When Guru Smt Vinosree Shangkar (Director of Padma Nrithyalaya Arts, Seremban) informed me that Dr Padma Subramanyam would be attending the launch of Bridge Academy’s International Conference on Indian Fine Arts, I was eager to meet her again. Dr Padma Subramanyam, an iconic and legendary dancer and scholar, already an octogenarian, is still an inspiring figure in the Indian dance world. As expected, her profound keynote address touched hearts of dancers and scholars who were present. Without doubt, Paduakka was the perfect choice as the symbol of excellence and scholarship for the conference.
The launch of Conference organised by Bridge Academy (founder Dr Raghuraman) in association with Lim Kok Wing University (represented by Dato’ Tiffanee Marie Lim) brought dancers, musicians and scholars of Bharatanatyam for the first time, to the huge hall of LKW University.
Both Bridge Academy and LKW University must be congratulated for being able to pull off this ‘bridging’ move of including Indian Fine Arts within LKW University’s sphere of concern.
The audience savoured the beautiful Bharatanatyam performance of Mohana Priya and her student. The highlight was the effortless and scintillating rendition of dance of Lord Murugan by Mahati Kannan, a niece and disciple of Dr Padma Subramanyam.
I was delighted to meet many good friends such as Dato’ Tiffanie Lim, Datuk (Dr) Ras Adiba (who gave a rousing speech), Archana Marshall, Dr Gayathri Kannan and a host of other friends from the Indian dance fraternity at the conference.
The conference welcomed Smt Vijayalakshmy Sunderrajan, the new director of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre (NSCBICC) who appealed to artists and scholars to continue their good work in Indian Fine Arts in Malaysia.
It was clear from the start that the Bridge International Conference Director, Mr Raghuraman has made a significant inroads to be able get a positive upshot in Malaysia Bharatanatyam fraternity’s dance calendar.
