Hi, Jad. Thank you for your work! I think I was lucky when I found your channel, the information systematized realy nicely. So far I had only pleasure watching your videos of the Learn to play series (I've watched about a half for the moment). I find your way of teaching very natural, proceeding from basics to more complex concepts step by step is essential for learning a game like bridge. And I think you mastered this aspect. For me it's also very useful because there is not much information about bridge (especially of such quality) in my native language. All articles and books I read so far were written in a realy confusing manner, it was hard to arrange it on my own. Thanks to you I don't need to do it any more :) Good luck! Hope you'll continue to make more videos, it'll be extremly helpful!

hello, Jad and glad you're back with this cool 2/1 system . Can you make a session about splinter bidding ? I think its a useful gadget in search of the slam . And of course Jacoby 2 NT .

Hi Bogdan. Splinter bidding is certainly on the list, although I will probably finish the 2/1 series first. Splinters are indeed quite tricky to bid to Slam, although 2/1 makes it a bit easier.

Hi Jad, the BBO robot plays 2/1 and would respond 1H with a 4 card major suit to a 1C opening. e.g. with a hand like this: Axxx Kxxx QJxx x What would be the correct response in this example?

Hi. Thanks for your question. You raise a very important point. A 2H response to a 1C opening is not 2/1. A 2/1 response must be in a lower suit. Because Clubs is the lowest suit, there are no 2/1 responses to a 1C opening. I will be looking at 2H responses in the next episode, so that may help you. The only time I would recommend a 2H response to 1C, with less than 19 points, is by a passed hand with max points (12), but for me this would require 5+ Hearts. The BBO response may be stretching this type of response to just 4 Hearts. I hope these comments help you work out what BBO is doing. Just as an aside, the hand you gave only had 12 cards, so I assumed there was a 4th Heart as you stated.

@jadbridge sorry, I meant to write 1H not 2H

No worries. This makes more sense. You can’t make a lower suit bid because there are no lower suits than Clubs. But, in the example you give, with 4 Diamonds, Hearts and Spades, I would strongly recommend a 1D bid. Bidding 4 card suits up the line is ideal.
