You can't understand what it feels like to find out such details. It is better to bring up the child with the full knowledge that they are adopted. Otherwise they feel their life is completely a lie. Disclosure is certainly difficult to handle but when a child is given age appropriate information as they grow, it becomes a part of them.

I don't think the issue is adoption as Africans have done this for years however it's when ppl think adoption is greater or should be considered by force when, expecting mothers always dreamed of having their own biological children. It's not all about her view on adoption. Let her enjoy and outgrow her shock. Put yourself in her shoes. In fact, put yourself in your own shoes, let your parents inform you that they weren't the one who gave birth to you. It's like saying that all your life, you lived a facade and fallacy. She should have been informed right from childhood let her live with it and grow out of it. Adoption is actually a heavy matter even we believers became Sons to GOD by the Spirit of adoption (Ephesians 1:5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”) Leaving asides all sentiments and personal opinions, adoption is a HUGE one.

@@oluwatomisinhephzibah743sorry but she was doing way too much Let’s look at it this way As believers we are all adopted into the family of God I would say she need to snap out of it quickly 😢and appreciate the fact that God allowed her to be part of a kind and loving family who treated her as their very own Many orphans are not so fortunate I think this is a reflection of all God’s children who are adopted into His family and the different attitudes toward it.

​@@wendyann3333but God didn't lie to us about our adoption He literally informed us about it beforehand. Lulu's parents wether rich or poor lied to her and they need to own up to it. It's not because she was brought up in a wealthy christian home that we should invalidate her emotions and feelings. She needs time and patience to mentally process what she's just discovered about her real foundation.

@@ebonyelevation7705 Overreacting you say? She like any other child is not to be blamed for the circumstances of her birth and how she landed in the Micheal Douglas home. They adopted her for their own fulfilment probably because they couldn't conceive their own. She brought joy to their home. No doubt she was raised well as every child should be by their parents. Infact they over pampered her being their only child. What they failed to do is disclose her true identity to her while growing up. Now she is lost! 😳 She has built her entire life on a false identity. Everyone desires to identify and grow up with their biological parents no matter their situation. Otherwise adoptees feel rejected no matter who adopted them. Expecting them to feel grateful is implying they are not worthy to be raised properly as you & me. It also implies we are holding them responsible for the choices their parents made. It is the parents of the adopted children who should feel grateful towards those who adopted their children. The children have a right to a good life. They should not be made to feel lucky or that they owe their life to their adopters. No. They did not choose them. They chose to adopt the child for their own reasons & should have told her the truth. The ANGER issues you mentioned will probably get worse. Because that's exactly how you would feel if someone took away your right to grow up with your true identity. Maybe she would have lived her life in a totally different way and made different life decisions. In the Bible, Moses was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter & was raised in the Palace as an Egyptian. When he discovered he was a Hebrew, everything changed. Exd 2:11 says Moses went out to HIS BROTHERS and saw their burdens were great. He saw an Egyptian man strike a Hebrew man and he identified with him by fighting the Egyptian. Her mind is plagued by a myrid of questions and feelings. Why didn't my parents love me? Why did they reject me? Why did my adopted parents lie to me all these years? Can I even trust anyone ever? 🤔 These & more are probably some of the questions driving her crazy. Her entire world as she knew it has changed instantly.

Or does it mean that children that grew up in wealthy homes should suppress their emotions when facing problems just because others have it worse than them? Is that way of seeing and doing things even biblical at all?

My question: Where was she adopted? Motherless home or orphanage home? Would she have enjoyed a better love and life?

Do you know what it feels like to later get to know that your parents are not really your parents?? Like the life you were living wasn't really your life. No knowledge of her background. No relative. Nothing. Truth is a lot of thoughts come washing down on you. But with time, you'll get to clear your mind and look towards the good side. Her emotions are not invalid. It's because you're watching a movie. Don't be quick to invalidate her feelings/reactions because it didn't happen to you.

I totally agree with you. In my opinion, I do not think the parent had gone wrong by keeping such information away from her. It simply could be due to the fear of loosing her or creating a gap in their relationship. More so, because Nigerian society always want people in such situation to feel and look less than whom they are once the truth is revealed...relatives and others would want to stigmatize the couple as well as the child. Either way, any adopted child in similar situation should be appreciative of the love and sacrifice shown by their adopted parents and not to judge their decision of keeping it as a secret for reasons best known to the couple. God bless and continue to strengthen our brother and sister as well as the entire crew for the amazing production.

One cannot really know how it feels to be in shoes as Louisa. Nevertheless, with my little experience of life, She aught to be more greatful, and accepted the fact that whether adopted or not , they are her parents. I was also called adopted while growing up but I later got the reality. She should have handled dz situation more maturely with a grateful heart. Conclusively, uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. Howbeit, parents like otunba might not really exist and if, then very very few cos no one could never knew they adopted. More wisdom and excellence to the convener and the crew. You have been a source of knowledge and insight. More Grace!!!!❤
