I live about a 5 minute walk from Newcastle Castle. Also if you had walked through Newbridge Fields there is an Underpass under the A48 which negates having to cross the road. It comes out close to the field before the Dipping Bridge.

Did a super circular walk from Merthyr Mawr to Ogmore Castle and back via the Dipping Bridge, Whitney Farm and Candleston Castle on Saturday. Surely the most underrated area for walking in the country!
