The Bridgeport J-Head: one of the most classic and sought after milling machines. This unit has been in desperate need of some restoration. First, we tackle the cosmetic side of things on this Bridgeport restoration, with needle-scaling, wirewheeling, and orbital sanding the casting down to bare steel.
Next up: Surface prep, paint, and mechanical upgrades. Wipers, gibs, backlash nuts, whatever needs replaced or adjusted!

I gotta get one of those needle scalers. That Bridgeport makes the heart flutter!

This has been an eye opener for me. It's now my number one go-to for restorations. This thing will power through flaky rust and paint, all without atomizing it like a wirewheel would. It produces little dust. This Bridgeport is definitely a classic - it'll be well taken care of.

I though I was gonna see some disassembly, and then puzzle work! Lol! Been A long time since I did this... usually when shop work was slow... then setting up, and tramming the head.

Soon enough!! First step was to get this thing de-nastified. Next, now that we have a clean machine, I'll see about adjusting backlash and replacing felt wipers.I'll make sure everything turns and rotates properly, and then yes, tram it all back in and get it producing accurate, square pieces! Thanks for the comment

Going with original color - right?
@IronWolfIndustrial

Dark machine grey! It'll be a little lighter than original, and almost with a ever so slight tint of blue to really make it shine. Take a look at my belt grinder build, or my Johnson bandsaw. They are both that color. Thanks for the comment

Thanks for the video! What was the tool you were using to remove the paint? Looked like an angle grinder with a wire wheel, but what was the other tool?
