seeing the relationship blossom between portia and penelope this season was so needed. it was finally giving her some humanity!

People critique and attack Pen because she’s not telling the truth but then want her to let Cressida take credit for LW. Also, I don’t get how people don’t understand that Cressida has bullied Pen for years, of course she wouldn’t want her tormentor to take credit for something that she built. LW was a refuge for her, and she enjoys writing. It’s not fair for her bully to take credit for her work.

In the book, Colin followed pen bc she saw her sneak away & wanted to make sure she was safe. So it was much the same. The big difference was that he knew before he proposed. They argued and that led to the carriage scene. Pen should have told him but I also understand that Colin’s feelings for her are so new she hardly believed their rlsp is real. Her mother & the whole ton has spent years making her feel unworthy and she lost Eloise when she discovered the truth so it makes sense Pen would be fearful of losing Colin. As for lady Danbury, I get her anger. We know from Queen charlotte her husband was awful. Knowing that her brother betrayed her & she was subjected to years in a cold miserable marriage because of it is a very difficult thing to get past.

One thing that I have to give props to Cressida for, is that she clocked immediately that there is an element of envy and jealousy in Eloise when it comes to LW. After season 2, I thought the one thing that was absolutely true about what Pen said to Eloise during their fight is that she's envious of what Pen did. Now Eloise finally said it out loud. And I feel vindicated because every time I brought this up, people immediately dismissed it as me reading the situation wrong. Sure, she's mad about being lied to and betrayed. But a nice chunk of her resentment comes from envy and jealousy. Eloise is incredibly self centered. Her friendship with Cressida was the final proof of this. She couldn't even bother to feign interest in her friend's plight of being forced to marry that walking corpse... I don't like Cressida, but I wouldn't want my worst enemy to end up like that.

So, the thing with the books is that each book only tells the story of the main couple. There are no side stories. For example, Benedict may appear in other books when there are scenes with the family but he has no story until it comes to his own book with his one singular female love interest. Before that, he has no stitch with the modiste, doesn't go to the Academy or dabbles in threesomes or bisexuality. That's the other thing, the books were written 20 years ago and historical romance was until recently notoriously heterosexual. So, everything queer in the show is not from the books, if it is Benedict or anyone else.

Penelope should have told colin before he found out in a sneaky way. Glad to see how pen and Eloise somewhat being nice to each other. Francesca need to be a grown woman and her man needs to man up and request an audience with the queen herself snd not have her mother do the work .

Book references: 1). Penelope had already retired as LW after 11 years, but then Cressida claimed to be her at a ball so that’s when Penelope decided to write one last issue discrediting Cressida but Colin followed her to when she drops off for her publisher, read the pamphlet and that’s how he found out. He also finds out right before their big carriage scene 2). Cressida tries to claim Lady Danbury’s £1000 reward for who can uncover LW because she married into brokenness, but Lady Danbury nor the rest of the ton believes her. 3). Tilly isn’t in the book nor is her Paul. Benedict’s sexual exploration is strictly a show thing. And that’s all for this episode (I think 💕)

This episode is amazing. I was smiling and i was having a heart attack because of that ending. I knew. I KNEW!! This is another reason why i hate TikTok is because someone leaked photos of the episodes before the release and put the episode numbers and synopsis of those episodes. I didnt read them but saw glimpses and looked away because i wanted to be surprised when i saw the episodes. But this episode made me realize that Pen found herself and passion in writing. Without it she loses HERSELF. Its not gossip, its writing and advise and awareness to things that people did not see or want anyone to know. She gave herself a voice and a voice to the voice less. But she did get out of hand because she was young and did not know FULLY aware of the power and influence ahe had. Until things got out of hand i think with Marina and her trying to abort her pregnancy in S1. And then things got more out of hand. Its conflicting with this situation. Because she is right, but not. Its her marriage in jeopardy but not just her but both families and Colin, especially.

One of my favourite storylines in part 2 is the redemption arc of Portia. I always thought she loved her girls, but she was really cold and hard to Penelope. The moment in 3x04 when Penelope is crying and says that she only matters to Portia If she has a Lord engagement ring and then Colin defending Pen... It changed something in Portia. The only scene I cried in this show was a Portia/Penelope moment.

I love how Lady Danbury's accent changed when Anderson said her childhood name.

Omg so in the book he follows her and finds out and he makes her get into the carriage and they argue about whistledown instead of debling! So the carriage scene happens after he finds out in the book

Say what you will about Cressida, I don’t blame her in the slightest. Yes her attitude doesn’t help but I’d do anything to get autonomy back in a system that forces you to marry someone as old as your grandfather. I’d act just like her if I had literally no one and was pimped to my father’s old AF friends Your hair looks great btw ❤️

I think the season they should’ve focused on building Collin and Penelope’s love instead of focusing so much on lady whistled down because it really took away from the buildup of their storyline. I don’t think it was a big deal for him to know

Is that the same Lady Danbury who was groomed at THREE YEARS OLD to be forcibly married to an old guy of 70? So that means when she was a kid, she had to endure every night of marital 🍇.
