Bridgestone brought us out to Utah Motorsports Campus in conjunction with Yamaha North America to put their new Battlax Racing R11 DOT race tire to the test. We spent two full days on track with the Yamaha YZF-R3, YZF-R6, YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M, spinning laps with sticky R11 tire, experiencing Yamaha's R-World.
Importantly, Bridgestone has made the Battlax Racing R11 available in all common Supersport sizes. Whether you're riding a 300cc, 600cc, or 1000cc motorcycle, you'll have race rubber at your disposal.
The Battlax Racing R11 DOT Race Tire is a street legal, single-compound tire, aimed at track day enthusiasts and racers alike. This type of tire is best paired with your favorite Supersport or Hypersport motorcycle, allowing you to push with confidence and have the lower lap times to prove it.
Since this is a race tire, Bridgestone strongly recommends that you use tire warmers, especially on the initial heat-soak, which will help promote proper tire wear and behavior. Of course, we also strongly encourage you to properly set up your suspension to ensure that tire wear will be consistent. Lastly, strongly recommend that you do not use DOT Race Tires on the road, unless you're engaged in professional road racing.
Bridgestone's Battlax Racing R11 is the follow up their previous "grooved race tire," the R10. Riders that chose the R10 will be pleased to know that the R11, while a completely updated tire, shares many of the same characteristics, with the added bonus of improvements in all categories.
This new DOT Race Tire makes use of Bridgestone's proprietary Variable-Mono Spiral Belt (VMSB) construction.The spiral belt is more densely packed in the center of the tire. When moving towards the shoulders, the Variable-Mono Spiral Belt’s gap begins to increase, allowing more flexibility and contact patch conformity while at lean. This technology is found both in the front and rear tire.
Helping with stability, especially when making use of horsepower gluttons such as the YZF-R1 and R1M, is the GP Belt, which gives the rear tire much more rigidity when under hard acceleration.
In practice, those attributes made for a tire that was compliant, but translated massive amounts of feel into the chassis and rider. Bridgestone has struck a great balance between carcass stiffness and tire suppleness in that regard, which many riders should appreciate.
In addition, Bridgestone engineers updated the rubber compounds, allowing for improved tire wear.
Regardless of your riding style, having confidence in the R11 is indisputable. Pushing into corners and trail braking deep, Senior Editor Nic de Sena stated that he had the utmost faith in the tires.
We tested these tires in conditions around 70 degrees Fahrenheit and used 32 psi in the front and 23 psi in the rear, when coming off the warmers.

Hey Suisk8, That's a bummer! Bridgestone is listing 180/55 sizing on its website. Perhaps check with another distributor? I'm a fan of the R11 tire and recommend you give them a shot for racetrack applications. Take care! - Nic

Bridgestone Battlax Racing R11 VS DIABLO™ SUPERCORSA SC, Which one is better?

Hey Nabeel, That's a tough question, as we haven't done a direct comparison of these two tires and it's been a while since we've used the Supercorsa SC. The two tires certainly have a different approach and that's something we can talk about a bit. The Pirelli Supercorsa SC is a soft, race ready compound, just as is the R11. However, the characteristics of the tire are still in line with the Supercorsa SP. You can expect a soft rubber compound that heats up quickly, but has a "softer" feeling, due to the less rigid carcass. There is a good amount of feedback coming through the chassis, and the Supercorsa SP or SC has always been a confidence inspiring tire, in my opinion. The profile is also something to consider and lends itself to quick tip-in rates. In contrast, the Bridgestone Racing R11 seems to strike a good balance between carcass rigidity and tire deformation, allowing for great flex and a uniform contact patch. I found that I was getting great feedback and I feel that the R11 leads in that regard. Both tires have aggressive profiles, so they'll want to snap into corners, however the R11 is extremely predictable, which I enjoy. I'd recommend giving either tire a shot and seeing what is right for you. Since both tires are DOT tires, we're not inclined to recommend them for street use and always remind our readers that these tires should be paired with tire warmers at the track. Hope this helps! - Nic

Is it true you can only 20 laps at most?
@ultimatemotorcycling
@ultimatemotorcycling 2 года назад
Hey Red Dot Rider, 20 laps on a single set of R11 tires? I'd say that's pretty low and well below what you'd do at your average track day. I've used these tires for full track days and beyond with a variety of motorcycles. Unless you're setting a lap-record pace, I'd say you're good to go. The front stands up especially well to wear. Take care, - Nic

@@ultimatemotorcycling whats the average laps on a single set of rs11
@ultimatemotorcycling
@ultimatemotorcycling 2 года назад
@@missingrider4551 Hey Red Dot Rider, That is a difficult question to answer and depends on numerous factors: Track conditions, ambient temperatures, suspension setup, PSI, motorcycle performance, and most importantly, your pace. That said, I've always managed to get a full track days use out of the Racing R11, which would equate to something like 70 laps. Depending on the bike I'm testing, I might have a lot, or a little rubber in the rear to spare. The front wears exceptionally well. Hope this helps, - Nic
