The last surviving purpose-built Glasgow Corporation bus garage. Opened in 1965 but closed only 11 years later with the decline in bus travel as more and more people owned their own car. The garage is now home to the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust and its collection of over 120 vintage buses and commercial vehicles. The Trust run many events during the year allowing visitors in to see the work underway. These events often involve the old buses working on free services about the city. A range of different video tours will let visitors experience the building and vehicles form many different perspectives. This will include guided tours and some bus trips around Glasgow!

I used to work in Bridgeton bus garage in mid 70s ...although my main bus garage was Ibrox. We took turns in doing a week at bridgeton doing C.O.Fs and general maintenance.

My father was a night shift fitter at Maryhill Garage and on his days off if he was working on his car or friends my brother and myself would go with him and play on the buses, sometimes we would find money that was lost inside the destination screen, the conductors when changing the destination sometimes lost money from their pouch and our smaller hands and arms could reach where they couldn't, I remember my father saying that LA1 knocked down and killed someone on its first run out, whether anyone can confirm that or not but its great to see the old buses still running, I have membership but have still to visit.

Glad the premises were bought, securing the future of this important facility! Those buses sounded so strong and healthy, like they'd run forever! These people certainly know their stuff. Respect is due.

Having had no previous experience of a Volvo Ailsa I wasn't expecting it to sound like a series one Leyland National!

The old bluebird bus colours! We had two run from Airdrie to Falkirk, one via Camelon and the other via Slammanan! Both ran from the old bus station ,where Airdrie Sheriff Court sits now!
