Sharan Hashakal began her term in the 20th Knesset on August 27, 2015, replacing former member of the Knesset Danny Danon, who was appointed Israel's ambassador to the United Nations. She is a member of the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee. She is also the chairwoman of the lobby for medical cannabis, the lobby for UNRWA reform, and the lobby for combat bombings. Sharan Hashakal was born in 1984 in Toronto, Canada. She immigrated to Israel with her family in 1985. Shekhel enlisted in military service in the Border Guard, served in Jerusalem during the second intifada, completed a military training course and served as a recruit commander at the Machmesh base. She was discharged from the army with the rank of first sergeant. Shechel graduated and trained as a veterinary nurse in Australia, where she worked at an animal hospital and volunteered at WIRES, a wildlife rescue organization. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and international relations from the Open University. ...from Knesset page
