Big thanks for this lesson! I have been putzing around with this tune for years but never really learned it properly. I saw Pat recently live (for the first time ever!) and was inspired to learn this after the played it. The lesson helped me to connect the dots and now I have the necessary "tools" on how to approach the song that no longer feels intimidating. Wonderful tune and lesson! More please using this format.

Wow! I've seen lots of your videos and they are always educational but this lesson has a years worth of practicing material. Such gems here! I love the sound of triad pairs especially when you can get that legato sound of a wind instrument. Beautifully done.

Something I've discovered over the years, is that usually, the more complicated a chord sounds, the easier it is to play. 🙂 Love your content by the way. Thanks.

Awesome vid, thanks for the insight. Just gonna mention 10:00 I like to think of them as fourths, the 5ths seem more like passing tones since the 4ths are one the strong beat

I have the pat metheny songbook, that also says Bb/A, but if you go to the record, jaco plays clearly Bb
@Mikkokosmos
@Mikkokosmos 2 года назад
If you listen to Pat you can clearly hear the voicing Bb over A. There is also an open E in there. Check out the video with Ulf Wakenius for example. The play A in the bass all the time. I hope that answers your question why I talk about it
