The manufacturer responsible for this is Zhongyi Optics. The actual physical aperture is not f/0.95; it's around f/1.1 because the rear element does not receive sufficient light to match the front element rated at f/0.95. That's the trick.

You’re getting confused between f stops and t stops. F stops are a physical measurement, t stops are the amount of light reaching the sensor🖖

I've only just caught up with TT Artisan being the new kid on the block and now everyone is talking about Brightin Star lenses - I can't keep up!!!! Wow, f0.95 is a fast lens, and pretty well priced too. I don't love the bokeh as much as I thought I might, but that's only when you're going out of your way to make bokeh balls with points of light, it may not be so obvious in more normal situations. Nice review/overview video David.

I only heard about Brightin Star in the last year and they seem to be making some great lenses. I have a 12mm apsc lens from them too but haven’t had much chance to give it a proper run out so far 🖖

Well! That was all a bit disciplined and organized and Proish for a short review video. Without the visual of our Narrator i would have been tricked into the impression that i was in the presence of a bona fide Grown Up. (Don't like that insult?, i have others....). More relevantly, i really liked that photo of 'Next Door'. I was pretty impressed by the vid footage quality too, especially considering the conditions - and a nice touch having the walk-through guy teleported from the eighties in black jeans and crisp, white trainers. The prospect of a lens that fast is very attractive, but i'm really unsure about the bokeh once you start to stop down. Have you tried it in, for eg, dark woodland? Somewhere where the light sources aren't so pointy? Have a good one. Cheers.

Yeah the aperture blade design isn’t my favourite and I’m not sure how it performs in the woods but it’s definitely worth a look. Grown up? Me? That’s a sure fire sign we never met in the real world 😂 It’s a solid lens apart from the nasty blue fringing. My 25mm 0.95 does the same thing wide open but looks great in even light. I know, that surprised me on that traffic clip. I expected it at maybe f4 or higher but not at f2

What do you mean when you say it has a full stop over a 1.4 etc? Great video yet again.

It lets in a stop more light or twice as much light as an f1.4 lens. Thanks for watching mate🖖

@GarNiteGaming There are lots of charts online you can download for reference, but a simple way to remember it is that doubling your current value is 2 stops so for example f4-f8. To find a single stop you just go in between so approximately f5.6-6.3. In terms of this lens f0.95 doubled gives you approximately f1.8 and so 1 stop is f1.4. These numbers are all approximate and the actual light getting to the sensor varies from lens to lens, but hopefully you get the idea. Thanks for watching🖖
