Brigette was never going to be as bad as Mercy 2.0, by simple virtue of shield bash being in no way shape or form as desirable as resurrect or pre-nerf valkyrie. You NEEDED a Mercy to win before she was nerfed, and OWL teams knew that it was team suicide to not have that res ready and able for huge and instantaneous value. Brigette's stun really only works for certain situations, and while its annoying to get shield bashed, a lot of that comes down to just how bad your positioning was in the first place. Most OWL teams (not all) are pretty good about not being tricked into getting into her range. I've noticed, at least in my games, her kit is less anti-dive, and more anti-greed. The real interesting thing is going to be just how much worse Brigette is going to look in the OWL when she does get those nerfs. I can imagine that she'd pretty much occupy the same spot of Mei, Doomfist, and Moira; an occasional stall pick to hold the last point.

Pocky Styx people wouldnt complain if brigitte could not heal and was moved to dps category. Im not saying shes perfectly fine but alot of the complainers are dps mains who think supports and tanks are just aimless losers and they dont want any non dps being prominent. Tl;dr people change criteria of criticisms based on dps vs non dps making it a doublr standard

Man, I respect your opinion, but I think you have the balance standard all wrong. Heroes being good on some maps and not others is EXACTLY what Blizzard wants; the only way you can have a diverse roster is by giving everyone highs and lows. You might be able to overcome niches with skill or team synergy, but there shouldn't be a universal option. And I think a lot of people have the idea of heroes not being effective at certain ranks backwards. Bronze should have the lowest hero pool (because the players are the least flexible with mechanics and strategy), with other heroes entering the ranked meta as you go up, until finally you hit GM/T500 where most/all the roster works in the right hands. This incentivizes people to get better and learn more heroes as they go, instead of "you'll never be a better player unless you play ABC dps or XYZ tanks", causing the ranked meta to narrow as players progress. Basically, you have to balance everyone around their highest potential and let the players work out who goes where. So what if Brigitte, Junkrat, or Bastion dominates Silver? That's for those players to overcome, not something to patch out in order to make room for next week's witch hunt.

If overwatch wants to be competitive then I think they have to balance around the highest tiers, after all that's where everybody wants to be eventually. The people who are willing to adapt to every meta and learn how to play around new meta changing characters should be the ones to climb not the people who stick with the same character or who only learn how to play a singular comp and only one playstyle and definently not the ones who cry for nerfs when meta changes and thier character isn't as strong as they used to be in a previous meta, instead of adapting thier playstyle or take the time to learn a new character or new team comp style.

The reason Brigitte is god on ladder is because she can easily dominate all the dive characters especially the 1 trick Tracer/Genji and offensive Lucios that all the edgy geeks love to play

Ive been loving brigitte ever since she came out but had to stop playing OW and take a break because i was sick of people being toxic to me seemingly every time i picked her. I honestly cant tell if she is OP or not because a lot of people seem to treat her as this invincible goddess who can spam stun and just walk up to reins when in reality snipers one shot me, tanks outbrawl me, good tracers are as untouchable as ever and fliers just laugh at me, so hardly feels like im dominating. But if im able to consistently stun genjis or divers when they jump in yolo, those players cry foul and whine she is broken and she ruins the whole game...

libertinarey its cuz they"re the kind of people who were used to dominating games and shitting on those players they beat to feed their own egos. So when someone can get the drop on them they cant deal. Like if a genji beats you you need to git gud but if u beat genji the game is broken. Alot of dps mains get all needlessly political and shout i worked hard to git gud Jeff needs to stop giving handouts to these no aim support plebs -_-

You say dps mains say 'I worked hard to git gud' but i think supports should also be able to say that they also 'worked hard to git gud' to counter those dps main and right now, I don't really need to be good at all as Brig to counter them. I think more higher skill cap supports would be great, since there's just Zen and Ana right now.

Make a suggestion on how flank heroes would be more efficient to counter as support.I mean, you're saying that support heroes need to be more skill relliant. However you do realize that eaven aim heavy characters like Mccree and soldier have a very hard time in dealing with Genjis and Tracers due to their mobility and small hit zone. People even complained about Moira and her beam even though it needs aim (tracking) and has actually very low dps. Her ball as well needs good placement to give her value and is easy to dodge most of the time. So tell me what design in your mind would be good to deal with Tracer or Genji. All of the tanks have problems with them and even in the pro category Genji and Tracer most of the time were countered with Genji and Tracer in which case the better Tracer/Genji would dominate the game...

In my opinion just reducing her movement speed a little bit will make her feel a lot less oppressive to play against. I honesly don't know what to say about shield bash, and I feel that talking about it is honestly very redundant now. Overall Brigitte is a little bit on the overpowered side, but support mains are tired of getting destroyed by snipers and flankers and Brigitte makes them finally feel powerful instead of helpless.

RadialPilot exactly. The game is balanced only when its convenient for dpsleague mains. Support/tank mains get nerfed and shat on and told to uninstall all the time. But many of us perservere while dps mains take the ball and go home the instant they dont get their way.

I agree with you 100%. Fix comp over esports . Even though I wish I could load up some comp and it be as organized as esports but maybe one out of 50 games is some what close to esports.. as for brig as a zen main , I enjoy playing against her . Play against her long range and we are good .

Well, the comments are already flaming so: I think balancing around skill is a bad idea. People forget that players pick heroes because they like them, not because they are hard or easy. I bought the game because people kept comparing me to Junkrat and I thought it was funny, I don't want my hero need to suck so Genji or Doomfist or Tracer mains can be happy with the meta. Junkrat isn't even my only hero, I play Zen when I want to.

The difference between OWL and Comp Brigitte play is the new Hanzo. He is so OP that running a Rein / Zarya combo is significantly more powerful. Brigitte hugely enables that comp. If new Hanzo was in OWL, we'd see a lot more Brigitte.

Well I started to try genji again in comp and use a different strategy of poke 'n' dash and I find that Brigitte hasn't given me much trouble at all. Using spam from mid range and a keen eye, you can whittle down dash low HP targets and then dash out quickly before a brigitte can catch on and then resume the mid range spam. It's also good because this strategy forces me to stick to my team a bit more and I've noticed that I'm getting healed a lot more. If the brigitte dies early on in the team fight, I can then go for an agressive approach and quickly take out the rest of the enemy.

Brigitte has a bad case of Hanzo Syndrome, in which she has one really powerful ability that wrecks uncoordinated teams (which is most of the ladder), but has an otherwise sub-par kit.

No hero can ever really be OP in a professional organized league, everyone knows how to play together, everyone has had elite training and game sense, I don't ever expect the same kind of synergy in random ranked. She's not infallible, but she can be oppressive on ladder, because unlike pros, casuals make mistakes, very costly ones, the most annoying heroes are the ones that punish those mistakes.

It feels like her stun and her dependence on it and her other brawl skills may be a large part of the discrepancy. In most comps, the threat of entering melee range is just too large against skilled players, but her output is next to nothing without it. Consider a spectrum ranging from support characters that in some way need brawling or proximity vs. those who don't, with, say, Brigitte on one end and Ana on the opposite. What practical benefits could be gained from Brigitte moving a little bit away from her extreme? And at what identity or superiority-in-niche costs? Would reducing her stun to a daze mechanic, but maintaining its original speedy cooldown (usable also for mobility) and maybe reducing the E heal by a second do her some good without doing anywhere near as much bad? Trading a bit of stun-kill Flail power for another 5-10 damage per LMB?

Her main use in the OWL seems to be for stacking armor. Since that got already nerfed, she might already end up in Low Tier as soon as they play on that patch.

I see another way to look at this. What overwatch needs it is to try to make the competitive experience more relatable to OWL. Overwatch is far too teamwork dependent and that is why we have this huge gap, team queue and a gild/lfg system will definetly provide a better competitive experience more close to owl (which will make owl far more exciting to watch also).

Crazy, your case is that one trick tracers should be able to play around a hard counter pick. The biggest skill in the game isn't aim, mechanics, positioning or even game sense. The biggest skill to learn is adaptation and Briggite's inclusion proves it. Before Brigg we had dive for nearly 2 yrs, ppl got used to they got better at dive, after Brigg Dive gets countered and hardly anyone wants to adapt and instead calls for nerfs. Metas will always change, if you are unwilling to adapt to every new meta that comes out, then your just not playing right and you really do not care about improving in the game.

I've been playing against her, and as a Genji main, it isn't TOO bad of a matchup considering that I keep my distance. But the point isn't about Genji, it's shield bash's interactions with certain heroes like Doomfist and Rein that are the problem. I can adapt, but the fact that shield bash is just so superior is a bit too much for a support.

ReaveIdono disruption or more accurately crowd control is not support specific. Road hog hook, Orisa halt, sombra Hack, junk rat traps and explosion, doomfist stuns and boops, reinhart charge, Mei freeze, Zarya Grav. Those are all CC abilities just like sleep dart, shield bash, and lucio boop

People can still get around her with doomfist, phara or an adressive Reinhardt. A fire strike and one or two swings usually takes her out. People just get frustrated because they get out of position and end up in her range. She was hard to play against at first because no one knew how to fight her.Now a days her heal isn't enough to keep her brawling because of the knowledge people gained on fighting her.

Brigitte isn't even OP in competitive. Currently she's the 6th most played hero in GM, but even that's misleading because there's a 4.51% difference between 5th and 6th so her pickrate isn't particularly high at all. Even her winrate in GM this week isn't out of the ordinary and is less than 1% higher than comparable heroes. I'm honestly scared for her PTR nerfs, they might start pushing her into troll pick status. Brigitte is balanced where she is right now why are they tweaking her at all?

I am hardcore of the opinion that you should not balance a game with incompetent play in mind. So obviously I don't believe she should be nerfed on the basis that competitive is flawed and people have a harder time playing competently. That's treating the symptoms, not the cause. There are problems with competitive that have nothing to do with hero balance, those things should get adressed. Also it's almost like Blizzard said they wanted Brigitte to be strong on a select few maps. That's only showing that Blizzard succeeded in their goal.

we have houston outlaws on record saying everybody on their team needs to learn brigitte because it does not take much time to be decent on her and , depending on the situation, she either fills the tank , dps or heal role. Also the meta is drasticly changed, to the point stage 3 10-0 Boston will probably be on the bottom stage 4 because they only can play dive. Doesnt sound trash to me.

Perso I would say Nerf her HP to 175 whit 50 Armor (AKA 225 insteed of 250) And increed her Range on her ATK (this would help her in larger area of the map whitout really changeing much for small range combat (only really reduceing her HP by 25.)

She is actually in a good space with a bad future prospect. It seems like the matchmaking system is punishing groups much less than it was. With proper team play Brigitte is actually pretty weak and as people catch on to this matchmaking buff competitive will more accurately reflect OWL.

Overwatch as a game does a terrible job of teaching its players how to actually play the game. Everything about the game hinders a new player learning how the game works. People still believe that you should always run straight to the point no matter whats going on.

Pharah is a hero that requires long range hitscan to focus her down easier, everyone's okay with that. Brigitte is a hero that requires long range spash damage to take her down easier, everyone complains instead of counter picking

It's because Pharah has been in the game since day one. I bet if it were the other way around, where Brigitte was there since launch and Pharah was the newly added hero, it would be Pharah that everyone was complaining about: _"omg! stupid fara bich just fly above ur head and spam u with rocketts that dont even have aim and haves splash damage - shes emposseable to hit way up inthe skybox... such a op braindead hero, jeff plz nerf!!."_ It's all a matter of perception. Pharah is just seen as status quo, whereas Brigitte disrupts it.

Her damage output is way too high, considering rein swings a damn tree sized axe with both hands dealing 75, yet this little tyke half his size swinging with one arm does 40 a swing, swings faster, and has more range than rein... Explain that?

Brigitte is never going to be a good hero because her hero design does not fit her role or any other role for that matter. The only way they can fix her is by reworking her to be an off tank.

a higher/pro level OW it is a completely different game. you will never see niche chars like torb, sym, doomfist etc. but in solo ladder play? all of it is unorganized. so alot of shit goes unpunished and you get alot of closed minded players on your team who never want to play around chars or counter pick. brigette is good in ladder Because no one knows how to properly fight her as a team with randoms.

SuperAmazing3443 Brigitte: has basically 900 health, a quick and hard to dodge stun that is usually followed up by a 150 damage combo, has a large AOE heal, which heals herself, and a health pack that grants health and armor. Ult gives players around her regenerating armor and speed buff. Hanzo: shoots projectiles. Has 200 health. Abilities: can see through obstacles in a limited area for a limited time. Can shoot faster at the cost of damage. Ult is a large, slow moving dragon that deals about the same DPS as Soldier 76. HaNzO iS sO OP gUyS!

this sums up brigette in a nutshell. Against players who don't know how to play against her or uncoordinated teams, she's OP. However, once players know how to deal with her, she's decent at best. I even predicted this would happen when she comes out in Season 10

Icon Those weren't close matches. Boston and London are both struggling a lot lately. They'd have won with pretty much whatever they wanted to run. And watching muma bm and main tank with Brigitte when he already knows he's going to win doesn't mean she's suddenly a viable option for main tank.

You do realize they are struggling because of the meta especially in Boston's case as they can't play dive into every map anymore because of Brigitte while London was doing well near the end of Stage 3 with dive but because they can't run it all the time they are screwed.

Stop suggesting to nerf heroes because players are bad. You keep contradicting yourself just because its Brigitte. Junkrat is still in the game and he is the most recognized frustrating hero in the game. It's also harder to play around him as his damage isn't as telegraphed as anyone else esp if it's raining over a wall. Encourage bad players to be good. To be adaptable like the game itself is built around. There are times where heroes are obviously too good. Yeah adjust their numbers, but for the fact that even in maps that she's really good at, junkrat and pharrah are also pretty good picks to counter bunched up comps, Brigitte can be fought out of being viable anywhere. She's not that game changing, she is just really fun to play as. When I die to Brigitte I just know I was out of position or whichever damage dealers on my team aren't coordinated enough to deal with her coming at us. That's it.

see I told you she was fine.. people are just too quick to whine and moan. she doesn't need to be good on all maps or all parts of a map. there are other heroes to play. on teams like Houston Outlaws, Brigitte is flexed to by all players except Bani who is a mercy one trick. everyone else on the team flexes to brigitte if needed

This is proof that she is not OP. She is just fitting in. Besides, her numbers are high because she is the new hero... everyone is playing her and she’s in every team. Of course her number is going to be high. Teams are both winning and losing with her simultaneously.

The problem is that people are just... dipshits. Instead of focusing her as a team and bringing her down in no time, people just ignore her or run away when they see her. At first they ignore the team and dont focus her and when she picks everyone up in 1v1 hey start flamming, baguttta so op nurf 1111 instead of focusing her down with the team.
