With the 1sts' game away at Bawtry cancelled due to a wet outfield, Wheatley TV headed to the Wheatley Oval to see our 2nds take on Bawtry 3rds.
Our youthful side, marshalled by a few experienced performers, are a developing outfit, learning to play adult league cricket in Division III of the Bassetlaw & District League.

Hello Wheatley, just got home from my first game of cricket as mentioned last week. Dropped a (hopefully) difficult catch but was responsible for a run out, got into double figures (just) but that was the second highest runs on the team, and scored one of only 2 boundaries in our innings. Most importantly had great fun and only a strained calf and a losing feeling to worry about. Onto next week, up the yickers(haydock CC) and up North Wheatley. Allt’ best!

@@WheatleyTV not get back into, literally picked up the bat for the first time at 31 and have a go in time for winter training in jan! Lovelly people, lovely sport and getting a bit fitter/healthier as well, except perhaps for my liver! Thank you again!

@@WheatleyTVIn our league(which is Saturdays) when the drinks break comes the home team(who I play for) get pints of beer run out to us instead of orange juice (unless we have kids playing then they get orange and the rest of us get pints of beer)

Greetings from Poland A very entertaining game. Using the twos as a development channel I think is a great idea. The youngsters in the team are first team players of the future. Despite the washing being out, a loss this time but upwards and onwards to the next game.

Hello James. A quick comment and thanks for the highlights from the seconds. Am up on the baltic coast for a while, with no wifi, but couldnt go without watching Wheatley. Lovely cricketing weather, funnily enough. Hope the weather bucks up for the 1sts next weekend

My first sighting of him bowling since he was knee high to a sparrow and I was delighted with what he did - loved it! As for the washing line, it did get a mention but in the middle of one of my MANY long and tedious anecdotes which didn’t survive the editor’s scalpel

Always good to see a youthful 2nd XI, nurtured a by a mini-parliament of owls sharing their wisdom on the key facets of the game; building an innings, bowling to a batter's weakness, how to dodge buying a round etc. The club will always be better for it in the long run.

Spoke to Mr Bates during the interval and he said the rule’s existed for a while but has been “reemphasised” to Bassetlaw League umpires recently

Never heard of dead ball if it hits them on the head aha! glad he was he alright, in our team it would've been a 6 and a heavy fine after hhahahaha, lovely to see the 2's though and some cricket more my level xD

Same here! A new one on me. And this is very much my level of cricket too. Miss playing for the 2s hugely, but it has been gently suggested that I am offering more to the club with the YT channel rather than my maddeningly inconsistent off-spin
