This is my new favorite episode 🥰 My sister is actually getting married next year, to a guy she has been with for 8 years. And... I don't really like him, but he isn't the worst. He is not abusive, I just don't love his personality. The moment I decided I didn't really like him was this: one of my sister's exes died while they were dating in a tragic car accident. It was a highschool boyfriend, and she had a picture of him in the house. He wanted her to get rid of it. That was years ago but I just can't get over how totally insane that is. But, she's happy and I'm happy for her anyways. But, it's also that he's just kind of a wimp with no real prospects or dreams, has been working at Little Ceasar's for forever and regularly ignores her for long periods of time to play video games. Videos games are cool, but just not really the way he does it. He's also a Republican, which is fine but it's like... His parents are also Republicans and he's only one by default and doesn't question anything and doesn't care at all about growth. It's just weird, man. But again, he isn't evil or toxic towards her. And they have been together so long. Anyways lol, this was long winded. It's so fun to "hang" you with gals every Tuesday. 😊💖✨
I wish we had arranged marriages my mother, sister and cousin would’ve done a far better job at planning a future husband for me than I would’ve done in my 20s when I was too busy dating pro snowboarders guys wouldn’t pan out. Dating has changed so much in the past 15 years and now that I’m just now jumping back into the dating scene, it sucks. Everything is online.
"My friends just keep going on so many dates..." Yeah, because they didn't find the right person. It's crazy how people the last couple generations have come to this weird expectation that the next person they date HAS to be the one that they marry. That's just not how reality works. You meet people, sometimes it takes longer for others, end of story.
Couldn't agree more. The idea that "some of these men could have worked" is so bizarre. Most women aren't getting married beause...they indeed haven't found the right person. And as a collective, men haven't evolved or stepped up to being a real partner - they continue the same gender-norm hell that women have had to deal with in relationships and marriages.
