Brent Lane is a professor of Heritage Economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Brent works with several local, national, and international organizations on the importance of natural and cultural heritage in conservation, education, and the economy. He is particularly involved in research and education on the cultural heritage of his home state of North Carolina. He has served on the NC Department of Cultural Resources' Roanoke Island Comission and is an active memeber of several historical and archaeological research groups. He holds graduate degrees in science policy and business administration and undergraduate degrees in both physical and social sciences.
