Cities should have never been built were there were no resources to keep them alive without disturbing the natural flow of water. If there is no sufficient water for cities in CA then those cities should die and have people move to where there are resources to thrive.

Sand is an efficient place for silts, nutrients, leaves, plant parts, woody stems, tree boles, and other vegetation to uptake nutrient, where hardpan-compaction occurs plant communities nutrients flow by quickly and uptake is minimal or lost, there these willows will take root if the efforts to get them into the substrate at the right bends and turns lay down silts, sediments, nutrient pulses, and with receding waters laying down their goods to the nutrient cycling of original riparian. They will try to root and thrive with special qualities that readily help to re-establish themselves.

After years of drought and unexpected floods from an earthquake that damaged canals and soiled all the water passed the border Mexican government asked the us to store more water behind the dams of the Colorado like glen canyon which holds 23M acre ft cubed. Second largest water reservoir in the world. After years of environmental impact both governments can now see how water conservation needs a different approach!

I agree with the last guy. Too much demand on the water. It's a part of the country that should never have been settled, way too arid.

Big prob getting residential users to scale back consumption...In the big 1977 drought in CA, we N. California's used 30 gallons /person per day. We made it work.. But S. CA peeps wouldn't cut their consumption down by even 5%, while ours was close to 60%. And they complained about it.

Will this detrimentally effect power output in az? Will it lessen the water supply in the areas that use it? This river and its current makeup are directly connected to the well being of many areas in the southwest.

We need better policies from the US Government. This is a very sad reality: Not only does the U.S take over half of Mexico's territory but also chokes them off the Colorado River. Think about the ecological disaster that this has caused. I mean, the US goes around the world telling other countries how to treat its neighbors. When you take a deep look into how the US treats its neighbors you become appalled. One of the first words that comes into mind is hypocrisy. How can a country that seeks justice for ecological disasters and a country that represents itself as the "world leader" and "promoter" of nature conservancy not look in the mirror an see that an entire ecological ecosystem has been destroyed NEAR its land. it is because of its arrogance and feeling of supremacy over Mexico. You already took over half its , at least let have its river. DO IT as a good neighbor, as a leader of natural conservancy do it, for ecological justice, and most importantly, do it because your concern of the Vaquita marina is also the concern of the Mexican people.

Simply too many people on the land. Nothing will happen. Soon they will build desalination plants and pile on more people.

Colorado River Delta was destroyed by waste . Water wasted on Los Angeles . All the water wasted during irrigation of crops , north and south of the border .Every canal that leaves the river sends water as a perverse offering to the sky , every canal that is not a pipeline , is a waste . Flatlanders cannot comprehend how dry the Colorado basin is , folks should come down in July or August , go for a walk . Validate your 2nd Amendment Rights . Carry .

"wasted" on irrigation? A LOT of the food you eat comes from that valley and those hard working farmers.

When sea level rises, the Colorado River delta will become salt water flats.
@CH-pv2rz
@CH-pv2rz 3 года назад
Sea levels are not rising. No coastal areas have higher water levels. The idiots in California need to stop stealing the Colorado river for LA and instead build desalination plants and gain their own water from the pacific. That alone would return stability to the river.

What about when your corrupt U. S. mining companies steal gold and silver from us Mexicans? And don't worry, I'm a Mexican living in México, and by the way, God is punishing the U. S. with drought because of the greed. Here where I live (Guadalajara) there is plenty of water, it rains more than California. And you are not a person of nature, don't be a liar, because you know that the U. S. keeps almost all of the water and it doesn't reach the its natural flow to go to the Sea of Cortés. By the way, did you know that México lost the war because the ones in power were just U. S. puppets (sea the real story). In my state, Jalisco, the U. S. supported president Calles in the killing of tens of thousands of Mexican Catholics, but as we all know, the U. S. genocides are hidden, just like the ones were the American Indians were almost killed completly (that is why there are few of them), while in México, most ot the people have Amerindian blood (in my case, my family is from Los Altos de Jalisco, mostly Spanish of Sephardic origin, but Catholic in Religion. I hope the U. S. repents of it sins, because if it doesn't than they are going to hell. Hatred like yours is one thing that leads to hell, so be careful of what your mouth speaks. P. D. Think to talk, and don't talk to think (piensa para pensar y no hables para pensar).
