Love your greyhounds. My ex racer was the same, found the TV really strange and using my stairs was a challenge to start with. I can tell both of them are having such great lives with you. Greetings from England.
This was such a special video to me! My first Greyhound was a brindle female who came with a purple collar, and my second Greyhound, who only passed away a couple of weeks ago, came from Florida, and may have raced on the very track you showed! I thought that was pretty cool! I can't wait for the border to open up between Canada and the US, so I can start the adoption process for another Greyhound (or two)!
Congrats! 6:43 when she's taking in all the smells from the open car window = cutest thing ever. I have a male grey and I'm pretty sure he's never done anything that cute.
@@smkauthor His name is EQ. It's short for Equuleus, which is a constellation name and Latin for "Little Horse." I guess he decided to raise his cuteness game today because he was roaching when I woke up, which is rare for him.
Hi Steph :) My daughter is Steph as well. I was introduced to Greyhounds by my Steph who has a Greyhound called Chester. I grew up with German Sheperds and never relly new about greyhounds. Chester is just gorgeous ! One of he sad issues is that he has arthritis in his right legs - caused by racing. As a result I really do like the racing of Greyhounds. I have learnt they are such a beautiful companion. Can we stop the racing bit? Bet on the Rabbit maybe lol
Greyt video furiend! Congratualtionz Tosh! I thinkz you adopted a greyt human! Watchin' them racez makez me a little nostalgicz fur the old dayz when I wuz racin'. 😊 Sendzin' big tail wagz! ~ Xander Greyhound 🐾
Very Fun Vid to Watch. I've Fallen in Love With These Adopted Greyhounds. I'm Seriously Considering Adopting 1 When The Time is Right for Me. Please Give Mack and Tosh a Hug For Me !!
We are meeting a few hounds tomorrow to foster, in additional our 8 year old boy! 🥰 Love seeing your videos. Do either of your girls use a crate or kennel?
How fun!! Enjoy it! It's always a treat to meet new greys! I actually made a video about my dogs use of a crate: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-myAsmDWSHZM.html
Thanks! Yes, I have seen the love and care that is put into these dogs while they race! I try to education people they say I "rescued" my dogs. I explain they don't need to be rescued, they just need good homes when they retire. And they have no trouble getting people to adopt greyhounds. They are amazing dogs!
When I adopted Mac, I spent hours at Greyhounds as Pets in Jax, FL. The woman running it had worked with Greyhounds most of her life, on the racing side and adopting side. I saw with my eyes how well the dogs were taken care of. I was allowed to look all around, no doors were closed off to me. She explained that greyhound racing in FL is highly regulated, and they have government officials come weekly to check that everything is being done correctly. While I was there, a few trainers of the racing dogs came by and told me all about the dogs, and knew all about the dog I was adopting. He explained she had been hurt, and they took care of her until she was better and thought about retraining her, but decided not to, and put her up for adoption. She had only been in the adopting building one week before I met her and took her home :) I am know this is not the case everywhere, I have heard really bad stories as well. But from what I have been told by people in the industry is that a lot of those stories are from many years ago and not the norm now. All I know is my two greyhounds love to run, were born to run, and both are very competitive. There were very well taken care of during their careers, and are the perfect pets now in retirement.
I adopted her through Greyhounds as Pets in Jacksonville. They are unfortunately closed now as greyhound racing has ended in FL. There are still a few states that have racing and adopt out those greyhounds. This is a great place to see where the adoptions are: www.ngagreyhounds.com/Home
The everyday collar (which is breakaway if they were to get caught on something) is from Hollywood feed and is their brand. The walking collar is called a martingale collar, which they have to use cause their heads are smaller than their necks and other collars could fall off. The brand of this one is Lupine pet. I think Tosh has the collar from the adoption agency on in this video, I don't know what it is. I swapped it out with the everyday collar when I got home.
I make DIY videos for a living @motherdaughterprojectsdiy on youtube. I make video every now and then here. Are you looking for more videos of the greyhounds?!
