Bristol Old Vic Theatre School advanced fight test - smallsword 

S.42 you could get away with cutting little bits of sinew and tissue with a rapier but smallswords are pretty much edgeless sticks with sharp points on the end and a hilt so trying to cut with one is like trying to open a can of tuna with a wooden spoon, let alone slit a person’s throat.
