@@SanRemoMotelBar Except The Strokes were toffers with no message. I liked them,,, but they had no substance. Joe T. has deceptively brilliant lyrics... Julian?,,,,,,, *upper east side crickets...*
I've never been that into the punk genre, and when I first heard this on Jools, to be honest, I thought it was a lot of loud garbage. But then I listened to a few of their songs on Spotify and thought: "you know, they're actually ok". So then I bought their album in HMV the next week because it was on sale, and I have to say I'm fucked if it's not the best music purchase I've ever made. I can see why everyone is raving about it. It's brash without being obnoxious. It's loud without being piercing. It's meaningful without being pretentious. In a word it's perfect and I can't imagine it not being one of my favourite albums for the rest of my life. Buy it, urge you

None of you guys here (except me now, technically) went (mock authoritative tone) "yadda yadda yadda 😒..I THINK YOU'LL FIND UMMM this is _not_ punk, yah?..." 🖖🏾
That moment when 3 1/2 minutes of Idles make the entire BBC crew work more than in an entire production year... Even Jools gotta be active. ..... Well done!
Love EVERYTHING these guys are about. Love the fact they made it to jools and made the most out of every second. Love that they had this platform to deliver thier message of unity. Love that im 35 and new guitar bands are this exciting. Incredible band.
Can just about pip you as I'm 54 in March and these guys have got to be the best band to come on the circuit probably since nirvana when teen spirit was out. I've always loved most punky stuff and this is fabulous. I won't be jumping round at their gigs though as my knee is fucked !!! ( old git)
@Jayne Parrington I'm 54 and got to see these guys a couple of weeks ago, one of the greatest gigs I've ever seen, and they even had me crying at one point.
I knew these guys were white supremacists and your post confirms it. DGG = Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft: a German record company that produced records for the Nazis. You and your fellow bigots are busted. Search "Deutsche Grammophon nazi" on google to see what I'm talking about.
@@steven_uk not sure what you're talking about, but these guys aren't on that label, nor are they white supremacists. this is literally one of several songs on this record where they take explicitly anti-fascist stands
Joe Webb There was probably a conversation at some point that went somewhere along the lines like this, "We'd like you to play Later with Jools, you just have to keep your clothes on" "Then we don't want to play" "We will let you do anything else, just don't take your clothes off" "...Anything?"
It doesn’t matter how many times I watch them I live, I love seeing how free and expressive they are on stage. Quite enlightening and inspiring to see.
Hey checking in with you a year later to tell you to watch the KEXP performance with Idles and Heavy Lungs, where Danny Nedelko himself gets a piggyback ride from Joe and sings along to the song Joe wrote for him. Magnificent tears.
Saw them live in Dublin a few months back, Unreal performers, the two guitarists jumped the barriers and came out into the crowd and went crazy, Some gig!
They are my favorite band right now. This song was performed very........casually for this one. THey are just so awesome though. Cant wait for the US tour this summer! Got my tickets. Might go twice in PDX!
Brilliant. Very rare to see and hear something like this on TV. Notice how absolutely everything on the show is the same type of stuff they always have on but no one says anything about them being fake or done to death.
