American here. It’s interesting that Brits, Europeans and Russians are so suspicious of smiling Americans, so sure that we can’t possibly “mean it.” As if it takes a big effort to just smile at someone. Believe me, if an American doesn’t want to smile, they won’t. Try smiling at each other, you might just improve your mood and that of the people you meet.

So, a fun fact about refunds here in the US: when you bring back a product like makeup, they will refund it. The store doesn't actually carry the loss for this. They give the reason why it was returned and tell the supplier. The supplier refunds the store, and they add the reason to the statistics for their profits and losses. If a product is being returned to the point of zero profit, it is pulled from the shelves.

There are a lot of options for returns. If it's in a salon, they can use the products for other customers--if they're not contaminated or anything. Not exactly. I worked big box beauty brand for more than a decade. The stores do take a hit, it’s just not cut and dry. It depends on the contract/agreements and other various things. Kombucha is a fermented drink made from tea and usually fruit juice with a culture that causes it to ferment after a few days. The longer it ferments the more alcohol is produced. The kombucha sold in most stores has a very low alcohol content, but the cultures are prebiotic. This helps keep the healthy bacteria level good in the gut.

A couple of things: 1. America's weather/climate is diverse and depends on geography. Even the climate of California is diverse. 2. Return policies are based on company/business policy. So, some businesses have more flexible return policies than others. Return policies also depend on the item in question and, potentially, the reason for the return. 3. Mortgage rates in the US and, I imagine, in the UK also, fluctuate. When she filmed her video in 2017, the interest rates were around 3-4%. Today, however, the interest rate is around 7%. However, this is just a national average. The actual rate for a mortgage depends on many variables and can vary from person to person.

One thing you folks not from the southern USA might find strange is, that if you see someone doing a hobby...like scuba diving from a beach, or flying remote controlled airplanes or cars.. or even ridding a motorcycle, you can just walk up and show interest in the said hobby and they are more likely to tell you all about that hobby. Even sometimes to the point they will invite you to try it!!!! Many times I have taken people on motorcycle rides and a few times I have took some folks scuba diving and let them breath from my scuba tank.

EVERY possible climate is available somewhere in the USA. If you want sun literally almost every day, here in Phoenix, Arizona is the place for you BUT the summers are extremely hot and we have to deal with monsoons and haboobs (look it up). Southern California is perhaps the “best” weather in the country BUT it has plenty of its own challenges, like earthquakes, droughts, forest fires, mudslides - and it’s expensive as hell! No matter what area you choose, you’re going to find both an upside and a downside case to be made, so choose thoughtfully and carefully.

I entered an accelerated program where I could take as many classes as possible at the community college to save tuition $ and university classes at the same time. It was a great experience to work with multiple generations as peers--very useful in the workforce. For a while I was hesitant to start so late in life. I told a friend i was worried because it meant being 56 by the time I was done and my friend said "You're going to be 56 anyway--you want to be 56 with a degree or 56 without one?" I live just north of Sacramento California. I get all four seasons. I am an hours drive away from the snow in Tahoe and an hour away from the beach in Bodega Bay. Yes, it cost more but it is beautiful!

Southern CA is almost great weather year-round. LA and San Diego have beautiful weather. There is a period of rain, but once in awhile there may be a series of big stores. They do struggle with water, which they get most from Northern CA, through the California aqueducts. About refunds, like her makeup cream, the supplier will take them back, and/or give the store credit. The supplier can/will write it off on their taxes as a loss.

Love all your videos! Just started watching you a couple months ago. You're so fun to watch, and I'm always laughing during them and smiling after them. You just make my day better everyday I watch. if after you visit here in America and you love it that much,you should consider moving. Family and loved ones are only a plane ride away to visit, or you can FaceTime . You have that can-do attitude like most of us here do and just watching your videos I can tell you would fit in well here! Go for your dreams and don't let ANYONE stop you from them!

We bought our home about 10 years ago and our interest rate is about 3.5% for a 15-year mortgage. 7% to 8% seems to be the range at present. NOT the best time for sure -- BUT a helluva lot better than 1981, when a 30-year fixed mortgage rate was 18.4% !!!
@rickalexander2801
@rickalexander2801 5 месяцев назад
On the flip side, if you were to invest in a CD back in 1981 and get 18%, you would effectively double your money in 4 years (compound interest) . A fixed income security would have been great back then but not on a mortgage.

Californian here: Regarding the 12 months of Summer claim, we don't have that unfortunately. Our weather by far is the best in the country, but we have "May gray" and "June gloom" which makes the early Summer months a little cloudy, although It doesn't rain during those months. Sometimes we don't see rain for 3-5 months depending on if we're in a drought or not. We also have our "Winter", which varies greatly by where you are in the state. I live in the Bay Area and our yearly weather stays around 15-30 degrees Celsius and we have been trending toward rainier winters from December-March. In LA and San Diego they tend to be a few degrees warmer and a tad bit drier with occasional "Santa Ana winds". The Central Valley also has mild winters, but they get extremely hot and dry Summers around the 35-45 degrees Celsius range. However if you go to the snow (Lake Tahoe, Yosemite Valley, Shasta, Big Bear, Mammoth Lakes, etc) you'll get long, brisk, and snowy winters with hot, dry, and windy Summers. We also don't experience humidity like the East Coast does, so even when it's hot--it's not unbearable. We really have every climate in California, so it's all relative to where you are, but overall it's usually warm and Sunny. Our diverse climates are part of what makes us the best state!

As a former business owner I can tell you that the smaller companies who are trying to make it, or compete with big players have a plan. They will go as far as they can to make the customer happy. The idea is that they win your loyalty and you will shop with them for the rest of your life. In the long run the loyal customers are the majority of your income, and the steadiest income. So long as it's not creating a big profit loss they will always attempt to win your loyalty. But please as customers remember the local owned shops that will do this to keep the customer happy. In return spend just a few dollars more to bring you business back to them whenever you can. It's what keeps the customer service high.

In the US retail is all about customer service, however each store has its own policies. Some are VERY liberal while others are not, some may only offer store credit. Obviously, they won't take back underwear that has been used, etc. Russia may have Alibaba which is the equivalent of Amazon in the East. Mortgage rates were down around 2-3% a couple years ago, but that didn't last. Avg rates run around 5-6%. Right now they are about 7%

Re: CA weather. Depends on where you live. Nov-Mar is the cool (50's daytime, near freezing nights) rainy (with occasion snow, depending on your altitude) season in Northern California, but often is sunny between storms. After April, its rare to even see a cloud in the sky.

Im from San Diego and we get on average about 21 days of rain per year! Our coldest months are Dec-Feb and the Average Temp is 66 F or 18.8 C. The hottest months are Jul-Sep and the Average temp is around 77 F or 25 C. It can get above 100 degrees or 38 C. But if you average the Temp for the entire month that is what you get. It can also get into the low 30 degrees or -1 C. But again if you average the entire month you get around 66 F or 18.8 C. You have to go to the mountains to visit the snow.

I lived in Riverside, California and one of my dad and I's favorite things to do was go up to the mountains in the morning (Big Bear like 40mins away) pack the bed of the truck with snow and then head straight for Orange County beaches. Nothing like snow and palm trees! My grandparents had a condo in Palm Springs so sometimes we'd end the day in the desert. To see 3 vastly different landscapes in one day was something I took advantage of in my youth but looking back I see how wild that was now. I live in Florida currently and the nearest mountains are the smoky mountains plus traffic has gotten so bad in California I'm not sure if you could still do that 3-stop trip but--wow. You really don't have to go far around here to be in another world.

@Debbi-fj9uf traffic is not great here, but no way to test bringing snow to the beach like I could once upon a time in Southern California. Honestly though I think you still could, but it would be a mission.

American who lives in Southern California here. it is not sunny all year round. It rained during winter a lot lol. Sometimes even get little snow. There are some places in California if they’re higher up in the mountain that gets snow in the winter. right now since it spring we’ve been getting 70° to 80° weather but in the beginning of spring it rains a lot. Summertime is super hot. Expect 100+ every day. I remember when I first moved here it was 116°.
