The US is relatively safe if you're not stupid, I've lived here all my life never been robbed or the victim of any sort of crime...never seen a shooting and most Americans have probably never seen a gun in public besides the ones police carry. You can usually tell if you are heading into a bad neighborhood pretty quickly and they exist in every major city, even if you do find yourself there you will most likely be ok if you don't cause problems. While in the EU I was scammed, robbed, and taken advantage of in just a two week period, i loved the continent but I've never felt so unsafe and vulnerable in my life, i was happy to get back to the states. The situation isn't perfect but the media is out of control, most Americans live very peaceful lives.

I'm sorry you had such a hard time. I'm sure tourists here in the US find themselves in similar conditions often. Definitely some distinctive things about a place being sketchy.. a bunch of boarded windows in a small area is a giveaway. Really bad roads, empty strip malls. Then there's the other stuff, drugs etc. I see people carrying often in Virginia but usually side arms

Yep, sadly sensationalizing every random crime gets more views/higher ratings for the MSM. Many people think that something like a school shooting occur regularly, when in fact they are extremely rare... or that America is number 1 in mass shootings, when if fact we are FAR from number 1. But there is no money in reporting good news.

I disagree with you. I lived in Las Vegas and you must have gone to some high priced locations. My teenaged son could put away some food. Our neighborhood casino had a buffet that was great with low prices. I could set him loose and he could fill up easily. Their tried chicken was great. They even had a special for people eating in the early morning. Breakfast was .37 cents for two eggs, sausage, bacon or ham, home fries, toast and juice or coffee. Just stay off the strip, talk to the locals and you will eat for cheap.

Every governmental building has a flag pole (fire stations, post offices, city halls, police stations, etc) with an American flag and usually one other below it, like a state flag or a POW/MIA (prisoners of war/missing in action) flag. My little city near Atlanta has 3 poles: a city flag, a state flag, and in the middle and higher, the US flag. Something common you'll hear if the flags are at half-staff (half way up - not sure if that's a thing there?) is "who died?" The US lowers the flag to half-way up (half-staff) for the death of President, Congressman/lady, Governor of a state, Supreme Court member, and other deaths. Sometimes the city flags will be all the way up, but the flag in front of the fire station is at half-mast due to a death in the Emergency community has passed (like a firefighter or police).

Actually American flags have been everywhere as long as I can remember and I’m 76. I really noticed it when I was in my early 20’s and my first job after college. My immediate boss was from Canada and it was new to him and he kept saying there are flags everywhere …. lots of churches and he loved going to the malls for the selection of merchandise and better prices than Canada; he was a French Canadian from Quebec. Within 4 years he moved to the US and became an American citizen along with his immediate family and even his best friend’s family. I have ancestors who first immigrated to Canada and been to various parts and love Canada and happy they are wonderful neighbors! It’s a beautiful country. I mentioned it because it took a Canadian to point out to me how many flags we fly.

sports venues and theme parks mark up the prices of everything, astronomically!! You'll pay about 3 to up to 10 times more than the normal retail prices. Thats why we tail-gate before the events! (You should find a video of a proper tail-gate event, some of them get pretty massive).

You aren't kidding, there. I was looking at travel trailers and RVs for sale and came across one Class A motorhome that the seller listed as "Perfect condition. Previously used as a tailgate unit at KC Chiefs games." I'll hand it to them...they did take really good care of it as it looked pristine. I think they wanted a pristine price, for it, too, though. I will agree 100% with this statement. When I used to hang at bars to play in dart tournaments or leagues, I would often get a rum and coke. The rum was usually "house rum" meaning the cheapest they had. They would put about a 50/50 mix in a regular-size 12 oz glass and charge, at the time (~15 years, ago) anywhere from $4 to as much as $9.50! I'm sure they're a lot more, now. Now that I don't go out to bars, anymore, I buy my own bottle of rum. And I get the good stuff, too. A 1.75 ltr bottle of Bacardi Black, at most liquor stores near me, is $21.99. I have a glass that holds exactly 12 oz of rum and a full can of Coke - a pure 50/50 mix - and it costs me maybe about $3.50 per drink, and that includes the cost of the can of Coke! It's also about 100 times better tasting than the trash rum bars serve unless you ask for top shelf. That same rum and Coke with top shelf rum (Bacardi, etc.) would be $9 instead of $4 and $13-$15 instead of $9.50. Oh, and the "Coke" isn't real Coke, either. It's usually some cheap knock-off brand like Always Save or the like. 🤮Now that I know what a rum and Coke SHOULD taste like, I'll never order another one, at a bar, again.😋

Being in America is not any different than traveling anywhere in Europe that your not familiar with. Just keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings. And just look out for dodgy looking people and stay away from them. And don't go exploring where you have no idea where you are going inside any city in the world. Opportunistic predators exist in every part of the world. So just like visiting anywhere else new. Just make rational decisions about where you are going. And especially here in America. All you need to do is ask a local person and they will be more than happy to tell you if there's any part of the city or town you are in that you should avoid. You'll be fine.

There's a Don Henley song that describes what the media became year ago, The song is called "Dirty Laundry." A portion of it goes "We got the bubble-headed bleached-blonde, comes on at five She can tell you 'bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye, It's interesting when people die, Give us dirty laundry." -- The more shocking something is the more people want to hear all they can about it. It's the worst of things that people want to hear about. More viewers, better ratings, more money comes in --- it works. It's disgusting, but it's how things for the most part are.

Americans have always flown the flag but not to the extent that we now do. The flag all over every building and home didn't really start until the 9/11 attacks. It was our way of saying we won't bow down and you can't intimate us.From Time Magazine: One of the most dramatic swings has been in America’s sense of national pride, which became rabid after one of its worst days since the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Remember when demand for American flags spiked so high that the United States turned to foreign manufacturers to meet the need? On September 12, 2001, 88,000 U.S. flags were sold in Wal-Mart stores, compared to 6,400 on that day a year earlier

I moved here in the 80s and the national flag being draped everywhere was really striking even back then, too. My grandma always flew the flag when I was little in the 90s. She was the WWII generation. It was common then, but 9/11 really revived it. It's dipped since then and the current political unrest has brought it back. There's nothing totalitarian about it! That's the opposite of what our flag symbolizes. The people chose to fly it out of national pride and love of America. Nobody ever makes anyone fly it. It's a symbol of freedom!

The thing about American food. Tourists may think America is just McDonald’s, with burgers, fries, hot dogs, etc. but if you want real American cuisine. You need to go to a local place. Maybe drive to somewhere like New Orleans, or Maine. If you land near there, the drive may be long, but, a local restaurant’s food is really good. I've found that the best food, no matter where you are, can be eaten at three different locations - Diners, Dives, & Drive-Ins - just like Guy Fieri's show. The man knows where great food can be found, for sure! For the best "snack shack" type foods, drive-ins like Tasty Queens are the place to go. For the best "homestyle cooking" or "3 meal (breakfast, lunch, supper)" types of meals look no further than your closest (outside of the city, though, usually) truck stop diner. There's a place called "Beto Junction" at a 4-way intersection of two major highways, in Kansas, that, in my opinion, has the absolute best country chicken-fried steak diner. I get it with mashed potatoes, white gravy, green beans, corn, salad (caesar, usually), and homemade Dutch apple pie.😋 Damn! I just got done eating and now I've gone and made myself hungry, again! lol

My word of advice is if you come to visit and stay in a hotel. Pick a fairly priced one that looks decent. Stay away from hotels that look too fancy. You just need a place to sleep and shower. You're not looking to stay in at the hotel for your visit, so there's no need to waste money for features that you don't plan to actually utilize. Also, on the safety thing, yes, most of it is just the media blasting negativity every day because, after all, tragedies get better ratings. And also, yes, there are bad parts of towns and cities. But if you just ask around, which, as said in the video, people are willing to help. If you want to know if there's any areas to avoid, they'll tell you. No one here in the States likes to see foreigners visiting go through anything horrible while they're here. So just ask, and people will steer you in the right direction.

There are large flags flown by all manner of institutions. And by large I mean gigantic! There's a flag that flies in Olathe, KS. in a strip mall-style shopping center. I think it's actually the property owner's doing and doesn't belong to any one store or facility. The owner just happens to be a very patriotic person and wants everyone to know it, too. I hope it never goes away. It's nice to see it flying majestically as I'm going by on the highway. Aside from that, all banks fly the flag as do all hospitals and schools. I've seen flags flown at both Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's. Also, anyplace that is a National Monument has Old Glory flying proudly, overseeing each site. It's awesome how much this great country, of ours, loves its flag.

Yeah every state has it's own flag. Some have some pretty interesting history behind them as well. I think the best way to describe the individual states in the U.S. is to think of them more as separate entities each with their own government and unique culture rather than just a geographic region within the U.S. Great example would be the cost of beer granted that's what they paid for a craft beer at a hotel. A normal domestic draft would run about $5-6 in bar or pub in most of California but in the area where I currently live Northeast Pennsylvania a normal domestic draft runs about $2-3 at most bars or pubs. The fact that most of our population are descents of German and Irish immigrants also plays a big role in my opinion. Many of those immigrant brewed beer so we have national brands but we also have more local brands than most areas in the U.S.

13:53 anybody that tells you that America's not safe is crazy. There are locations in any city that aren't real safe but that's everywhere around the world. But for the most part America is very safe. It's been a long time since I've been to Manhattan in New York right now I wouldn't go there just because of things that I've heard but I don't know that the first hand. I spent a lot of time in New York back in 1999 and 2000, and while walking one night I got lost and I ended up in an area that felt very unsafe I didn't get mugged or anything so don't know. In Detroit I didn't feel real safe couple of reasons for that I'm not going to go into the huge long story I've already told that on this channel on another video at one point. But other than those two times I don't think I've ever felt really like I in danger unless I was going to a place where I knew I was going to be in danger. Like driving to Watts during the Rodney King riots, you kind of know that you're heading into a dangerous area. My friends and I got a glimmer of intelligence and didn't go all the way there We turned around, when we heard the story about the white truck driver getting drug out of his truck and beaten for no other reason than he was white and in the area.

Touristy areas will have high prices for everything. I don't drink beer, but the local bar I go to charges about $2.50 for a Coors draft. I only know that from buying them for my step-parents. Flags are a big thing here, and not just US flags. I have a flag pole mounted on the side of my house with a USA flag and two red-white-and-blue buntings under the front windows of my house. Two neighbors have those tall flag poles set in the ground. One has the Gadsen flag (Don't Tread on Me with a coiled snake about to strike), and the other has the US flag on top and a Puerto Rican flag under that. A neighbor around the corner has the US flag and the UK flag as the wife is from England. The city next to mine has a majority Dominican Republic population so you will see flags for that country as well as the US flag. Here and there you will see flags for various countries like Italy and Ireland bc the people are from there or have that ancestry. Also flags for the local major sports teams like the Red Sox and Patriots. I guess we just like flags. We like our patriotic t-shirts and baseball caps, too. Panda is ok for what it is. It really depends on what each location quality is. Some are good sometimes bad. It’s because each location isn’t owned by the company so doesn’t adhere to strict rules, they all are individually owned by someone who are licensed to get the stuff. Basically they get everything but the food which each owner has to get and it’s up to them for quality. Every Panda Express is different with its setup and decor but you see similar stuff like the tags and stuff.
