They go beyond "deep south." Their "Helplessly Hoping" is soulfully done, and they have fun humor, like their "Butts Remix"

Today is 2/12/21 and I enjoyed your reaction to Home Frees' cover of Man of Constant Sorrow. It's and old song - written in 1913 and we call it "Folk Music" here in the States. Folk music is indeed what led to Country Music. I just love this group.

Others have filled you in on the basics of "region/genre." All are professionally trained. All can adapt their own natural accents to match a song. Austin's just plain LEANING on this to go all out, and he's a Southern Boy. (grin) Basically they adapt to suit a piece quite a lot, but maintain a light, casual touch of Southern/Midwestern as their own natural ambiance. They understand that dialect and accent affect how a song is heard, and they make good use of it without getting phony.

Home Free is truly amazing. Tim, the bass, has a five octave voice range. Austin, high tenor, who sang lead here, has an amazing voice. May I suggest, Country Roads, My Church, Love Train, and Mayday, just to name a few. You're going to love this Home Free journey, into their music. Great reaction.

They're recognised by being the only Country accapella group. They do a lot of covers, but do have originals. The bass Tim is from Texas, First tenor is from Georgia,, the baritone is from Alabama. The beat boxer and the guy with the beard are from Minnesota. They sing all genre's of music and the did dress for this video. Hope you'll do more. Going to subscribe. One more thing .... They don't take themselves to seriously and love having fun....that's not to say they can't be serious because they can . Thanks for the reaction.

Few suggestions, Love train, End of the Road, How great thou Art (gospel), Do you hear what I hear (Christmas). If you want to see Tim's 5 octave vocal range watch Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust cover of Misty Mountains for Tim's low range, and the watch Homefree doing Mayday cover for Tim's higher register. Thanks for your reaction! Stay safe and healthy and have a blessed day!

This is the music of the Appalachian mountains. The people were poor as dirt. They had only their voices, and maybe a "mouth harp" if they were lucky, so this music is born of their souls and their poverty. It is wonderful that these guys are bringing it back and letting generations of people all over the world understand and appreciate this music.

Loved your reaction. Yeah Tim has that effect on people. He has a 5 octave range so he can sing tenor along with deep, deep notes. Three of the boys are from the south, Texas, Georgia and Alabama. Two are from Minnesota. They are an amazing a cappella group and do a lot of country songs but that’s not all they do. They do pop, R & B, religious songs, parody and country. They have a good sense of humor too. They do a lot of covers but also write their own songs. Their harmonies are amazing. Try Helplessly Hoping, Seven Bridges Road, Country Roads to start. The beatboxer is amazing too. Oh and Tim has been known to break speakers with his low notes. You can see him go real low in Misty Mountains (from The Hobbit) with Peter Hollens (another amazing a cappella singer). Folsom Prison Blues is a good one too for low notes. You can’t go wrong with Home Free. Keep reacting!

.All of these guys have amazing voices and they spread around who sings lead or they share it or they all do harmony like in How Great Thou Art, Auld Lang Syne or Helplessly Hoping. Tim is their bass singer with a 5+ octave range. To hear him in lead, try My Church or In the Blood. Chance sings baritone for Home Free he has a 4-octave range and use to sing bass in his previous group. To hear Chance sings lead try I can’t outrun you or Some girls Do. To hear Austin (high Tenor with curly light hair) who sang lead here try Meet me in the middle or Love Train. Rob (beard and glasses) try Blue Ain’t your color or Dreamer. My suggestion for your next song would be Take Me Home, Country Roads (Rob sings lead but everyone has their moment). It's a good one to help you get acquainted with their different voices.

These fellers are (bass) Tim from southeast coast of Texas, (lead tenor) Austin from south Georgia, (baritone) Chance from the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, Alabama (alligator swamp country) where this video was shot. He was the one imitating the mouth harp at the beginning and and of the video. Sounds like a swamp bull frog to me, but with a rhythm. What surprises most people hearing this for the first time is that the five Texas boys are not using a single instrument. All the instrumental effects are made by human voice alone. The two Adams, one beatboxing and the other emulating a jaw harp, make the song wonderful. I have emulated a harmonica with my voice before. Let me assure you it is not easy!

Jaw harp is vocal by Adam Chance. I've seen others say that in their live shows the use a loop for some of the beatboxing and the jaw harp because the song requires 7 voices and there are only 5 of them. If you enjoy bass singers check out Geoff Castellucci Black Bird. This is a cover of the Beatles song. You will be shocked.

@@davidwiger6024 True they can also use reverb, bass boost, and various other electronic conditioning, but that's about it. Never auto-tune or synthesizers. They definitely do editing, sound equalization and looping in studio, everyone does that, they just keep it to the minimum.

I just subscribed...... I am looking forward to your journey down the Home Free rabbit hole. You will most likely become a Home Fry....the name for their fans. You ought to look up the videos of people who are at a live Hime Free concert and Tim actually “breaks” the sound system. They say the building shakes when he his those sub-woofer (?) notes. Absolutely amazing and unbelievable at the same time.

The group when formed was originally from Minnesota. Later additions come from Texas, so not entirely deep south but well able to cover that and many other styles.

They are country music based originally, but they have a very wide range of music they perform. Have fun going down the rabbit hole. Also if you want to hear more Tim Faust bass, watch him team up with Peter Hollens in Misty Mountains

New here!....loved your reactions to their great talent! Tim...the Bass, is totally AWESOME, & is one great, funny guy! He’s written some really funny songs, they’ve done some fun videos to! “Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget” is a great fun one. “Ring of Fire”, is a great one with Avi Kaplan as a guest singer along with Tim !!! Great Basses in that one & it’s Tim doing the last Low Note 🙃🙃

Tim is featured with Peter Hollens(sp) singing Misty Mountains, he will challenge everyone's manhood. Tim has destroyed speakers with the lower range and power of his voice on stage.

Greetings from Norway. Great reaction, and as you may have understood by now Home Free has a couple of fans in here, and I believe doing Home Free reactions is a great way to boost your subscriber numbers. Please do their cover of On the road again, and for Christmas Grandma got run over by a reindeer, I guarantee a good laugh.
