The Florida Keys are a chain of islands that stretch south of Miami towards Cuba. Key West is the last island, about halfway between Miami and Cuba. The Overseas Highway connects the islands. Some form of this highway has existed since 1928. It was mainly railroad back then. Key Largo is the largest island in the chain. Humphrey Bogart made a movie called Key Largo where they were trapped there during a hurricane, among other things.
I agree. His enthusiasm is what made me sub in the first place, and his reactions to the US really do remind me how mucky I am to live in this country, even when I start to forget. 😄
White paint on buildings is popular in Florida because colors fade quickly in the Sun. I do have a white car because it's cooler. White cars are pretty common as well in Florida. I suspect the same is true in Arizona.
I thought everyone had white cars here in Florida because they cost less money than other colors. But maybe they cost less because so many are brought here.
My late wife and I did Key West as one of our first dates. We rented scooters to go all over the island, and it kept us cool. We were together for 20 years. Lots of great memories, and I miss her dearly.
American here…Your love and admiration for the US is so much fun to watch. It’s absolutely endearing! Reminds me to love my country, sometimes we forget how lucky we are! Thank you!! ❤
There are feral chickens all over Key West. They're smaller than your average chicken, and they're protected by law. So, you're gonna hear roosters crowing all the time, and in the morning, it's a cacophony of noise.
@@andycristiana1043 there's a few breeds of naturally small chickens that aren't considered bantams but modern convention has renamed as dwarves (tho, they truly don't possess a dwarf gene either.). critically endangered in their countries of origins in europe (sweden is one of the primary nations for these breeds) but whose lineage has spread across the americas and caribbean in the 1600s-1800s, also endangered in both of those places (save a handful of islands lacking human populations) because later mixing with commercial fowl. tho, they had first spread throughout europe centuries earlier.. in both cases, following the slave (the centuries much earlier within europe itself and later the trans-atlantic we're more familiar with. mini-chickens pack light.)
@@Steve-hq4fm They were brought in by settlers from caribbean for food. Escaped or released. As a kid, I have seen a couple but far and few between. Now, they're everywhere.
@JasonEllison Those chickens have been there for over 1oo yrs brought in by early settlers. I was born there, think again. There weren't as many when I was a kid, but have grown in popul. Yes, there was cock fighting but it's illegal since 80.
Answering a few of your Brit questions - The Keys are not islands with beaches, they are the remnants of Coral Reefs from the Ice Age - generally, the ground is made of crushed coral not beach sand. The average water depth of the blue/green is about 5-7 feet for 1000s of feet out. It's so clean because the local pants on the keys drink and purify it. There are 3-4 keys that were man made after Wealthy people had the ocean floor dredged down 40 feet to allow their yachts to dock at their homes. Currently, there are over 1700 named keys, but some estimates suggest that there may be as many as 2000 or more unnamed keys in addition to those that have been named. There are 42 bridges from the mainland (Florida) to the end of the Keys. Key West, the southern most key can reach temps of 100+ degrees, drinking a bottle of water per hour is normal. The Smathers beach is man made from sand brought over from the Bahama Islands. There are sharks, mostly harmless. It's the giant sea turtles that you can bump into on a Jet Ski and injure. They have hospitals dedicated to saving them as a result. Duval Street is basically, drink everywhere until you cannot stand up anymore. Finally, the marker in the beginning of the video is 90 nautical miles from Cuba... in the 70's we almost entered into a nuclear war (within hours of) with Cuba when Russia was hanging out in our USA backyard.
@@alicesullivan4089He’d really freak out if he was in the water and they started playing “Fins to the left…fins to the right.” 😂 Don’t feel bad at all…you’re wisened by age. This guy is pretty young and ignorant.
@@EricT3769 haha! Is this a back- handed compliment? Are you a Parrot head too? Either way - gotta get this young man to the Keys! The raw bars, tiki bars, fishing, snorkeling, just being on Key West! Greatest place in the USA. And being Memorial Day - all the men and women on the naval station there keep us safe. What’s not to love?
I Live in South Florida. I have been to Key West a lot of times. The best thing is what happens on the dock each night. There the residents come out and perform. One guy has trained cats. The cookie lady is there selling her cookies. Everyone sets on the dock and drinks and waits for the sun to go down. Everyone yells and has a drink saying bye to the sun setting. It is a nightly thing.
It is like a mini bazaar every night. You have performance artists working for tips and people hawking their craft wares. The sunset is the main attraction.
I'm a pilot and own a small airplane. There's so many advantages they have over big planes. It's kinda like the difference between owning your own car and riding a bus.
Key lime pie is a sort of a cream pie flavored by a tart variety of lime. The crust is usually a graham cracker crust made with crushed graham crackers, sugar and butter. The pie is usually topped with whipped cream. You must taste it for yourself. It’s many people’s favorite pie.
I'm blessed with Amish restaurant where I live, that serve great Key Lime pie 🥧. Many yummy pies, even peanut 🥜 butter pie (sounds gross, but the best I've ever had) 😋
Key lime pie, is just key limes (golf ball size limes, grow on island , eggs, sweet condensed milk and graham cracker crust pie shell. That's the OG recipe. I have a key lime tree so getting them it's just grabbing them off tree when ready of course. You can also use bottled key lime juice from grocery stores. No, u cannot use persian limes that are much bigger. Then it's just lime pie!
This was their first visit to Key West, so they didn't know that it rains, for a short time, every afternoon. It's just how the micro -climate is there. Personally, I love Key West!
It's 5 o'clock somewhere 😂 My family was friends with Jimmy Buffett. This is where he lived. My family lives on Clearwater Beach but we would drive down to the keys. My aunt owns a travel agency for people who just want her to figure out the details of their trips 😂!! Sadly, my Dad passed from ALS but his favorite person ever, was J immy Buffett ❤ Rip to both!! My favorite thing in Florida was when it would rain while the sun was still out, so peaceful!
Hurricanes have been known to spin off tornadoes. There have been tornadoes in all of the 50 states. However, not all states get equal types/strength of tornadoes.
Tornadoes are usually F-0 or F-1 on the tornado strength scale in Florida. It’s not something Florida residents worry about too much in comparison to hurricanes.
Florida is famous for getting mid-afternoon thunderstorms. Almost like clockwork...around 3pm. It's insane. It's just the climate down there that spawns these storms. They're usually not that strong, and they come and go pretty quickly. You'll be somewhere and it's sunny one moment, raining the next. And then sunny again.
TDay, I read years ago, that these predictably...unpredictable afternoon storms, is why Major League Baseball was late, in giving Miami a franchise (Marlins). Even though almost ALL of the teams and players, couldn't wait to get there in February.
@@TheSkyGuy77 Florida weather is just sometimes insane. When we moved down the first day... it rained hard in my across the street neighbor's yard while ours stayed perfectly dry.
If you look at a map of Florida, there are a string of islands stretching out from the southern tip. Each island is called a "key." Key West is at the end of the island chain.
Well, there are a few more islands, but no road getting you there, I think the Dry Tortugas iis the last one which is 70 miles off of Key West and has a very old fort there. I'd love to visit there one day and go snorkeling/camping
In 2021, I drove to Key West from Naples. Rented a bicycle to get around the island. Climbed to the top of the lighthouse, saw Hemingway’s house, saw the little White House, went into the butterfly house, watched the sunset, ate a delicious key lime pie, and snorkeled off the coast at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park where a Spotted Eagle Ray swam beneath me. It was awesome!! My last day there, I took the Freedom Ferry to Dry Tortugas National Park. That was an amazing experience!
I am a pilot of those types of planes. As long as it’s not a turbulent day, they are nice and smooth and safe with great views for passengers. Great way to get a different perspective.
When we visited the Bahamas we went in a small plane. On the way back, landing in WPB there were storms in the area. That was my scariest airplane experience. I had no idea that the plane would be coming in sideways. Scared the bejesus out of me. I discovered after that it was the safe way to land in a strong crosswind, but OMG.
It’s a tourist area . Really laid back . Also known as margaritaville . It’s small . There are several keys south of Florida . The bridge is a 7 mile bridge that you saw. you would love Florida ! Best months are October November and December. The winter months are cooler high of 70 degrees.
October through January is a lot windier than the rest of the year so going on a boat or jet ski then is iffy, you’re really lucky if you have an awesome day around that time. (From Hollywood Fl)
In case you didn't see the marker behind them at the beginning of the video, Key West, Florida, is the southernmost point of the continental United States. In fact, it's only 90 miles from that point to Cuba. My family went on a cruise to Key West and the Bahamas back in February of 2018, and the temperature was 28.3 degrees C there in the winter while it was closer to 10 degrees C back home in South Carolina. Key West is like a small town tourist trap, but fun. Just FYSA, I have found that most islands in the Caribbean have chickens just roaming around freely. Also, the white theme of the buildings and houses is done not for looks, but for comfort. Here in The South, it gets really hot in the summer, especially in South Florida and the Caribbean. White reflects heat whereas darker colors absorb it. This is the same reason that cruise ships are often painted white - to reduce heat. Additionally, if you ever travel to Florida, if you were wise you would pack lots of light-colored clothes. 😄 Yes, Florida definitely gets tornados, especially when there are hurricanes, but it can also get them from regular thunderstorms, too. Florida is also known as the lightning capital of the world. 20:40 You're thinking of Everglades National Park, which is just west of Miami on the mainland of Florida, not The Keys.
Key West is my favorite part of Florida. The water is gin clear and the seafood is unparalleled. The six toed cats are descendants of Ernest Hemminway's cat who lived on the island and had six toes. The cat , not Ernest. Well they both lived lived on the island. You get the picture. Anyway the cats are everywhere and are very friendly. If you go take the Conch Train Tour. Very good for first time visitors. Islanders are very friendly and helpful. I just love it.

When I was in Key West, my partner and I took a sea plane to the Dry Tortugas to Fort Jefferson. It was amazing!! It was built during the Civil War and was where they imprisoned Dr. Mudd, who was the doctor that helped John Wilkes Booth after he assassinated President Lincoln. We went snorkeling, had a picnic and toured all day. Blast!
Key west is not only the southernmost point in Florida but also in the entire United States. Key west is a very fun place to visit. Tons of museums, art galleries, shoos, historic homes and buildings, lots of history to discover here. I've been down 12 times. We live in Largo which is about an 8 hour drive from key west. Such a fun & unique place to see and explore.
I live in a gritty Northeastern U.S. city. My neighbor grew up in Key West, Florida. She hated it and much prefers her current location. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side! I loved visiting the Florida Keys. Hurricanes are common in Florida and islanders are evacuated to the mainland. Most beach communities have white roofs to keep the houses cool. Key lime pie is my favorite dessert! (Key limes are a type of lime found in the Florida Keys)
RICH??? I am a "native conch" from key West, maybe u mean tart as key limes are tart but Key lime pie is not rich in flavor, it's a sweet tangy and citrus flavored pie, not rich.
Fun Fact: Key West is haunted! So, a lot of the porches have the ceilings painted a specific shade of blue as spirits cannot go across water, so it “tricks” them from entering the house. You can get the specific paint color at the local hardware stores. Kind of a cool fact. I lived in the Keys for about 6 years and it was amazing! Expensive…but amazing!
We travel to the Florida Keys every year for three weeks in January. The Florida Keys are a string of islands that end at Key West. We usually stay in Marathon Key, which is about half the distance from Key Largo and Key West. We love the great beaches especially Sombrero Beach, the great seafood, the Turtle Rescue Center and Dolphin Research Center. I always take the time to spend a day in Key West but the parking is horrendous and when the giant cruise ships disembark it's wall-to-wall tourists. So many great restaurants along the keys route that you can eat your way to heaven and gain way too much weight....but it's worth it!
Here you go Lewis, Key West, a U.S. island city, is part of the Florida Keys archipelago. It's also Florida's southernmost point, lying roughly 90 miles north of Cuba. Famed for its pastel-hued, conch-style houses, it’s a cruise-ship stop also accessible from the mainland via the Overseas Highway. It’s known more for its coral reefs - destinations for diving and snorkeling - than for its beaches. They said it better than me.
Not just in Key West, polydactyl [six-toed] cats are also common in Northern New England and neighboring Canada. Supposedly, they're also common in Cornwall and Wales.
I had one for 13 years. Best pet I ever had. He passed 4 yrs ago, I really miss that cat. Went outside like a dog, no litter box in the house. Would come to you if you called him.
yeah it’s popular especially in the south where it began now that flavor shows up in yogurt cups and all sorts of desserts 🍨 and breakfast and brunch food
Here in Tampa anyway, we rarely get tornadoes but they do swing through occasionally. In central, more rural Florida gets more tornadoes than coastal cities. Most of us are mostly worried about hurricane season which runs from around June-November. Some hurricanes can cause 20ft storm surges and flood entire neighborhoods and small cities.
@JessieGirl3 🤣🤣 nope! My brother recently moved down too and he's always like "get water! Get a flashlight!" And I'm just like meh 🤷🏾♀️ I'll still have to work because neither the power nor the wifi is even going out.
The keys are actually in the Florida straights. Caribbean is south side of Cuba. My wife is from Abaco Bahamas and it’s funny but we debate this all the time. I’m from south Florida and her island is 100 miles straight east of me and say’s Bahamas is Caribbean. I say Bahamas is in Atlantic Ocean.
@@mrkmcdngh I thought that too. People don't know what they're saying when they use the word "literally" as they do. Makes me think of Weird Al Yankovich's song "Word Crimes" 😀
I piloted those small planes a couple decades ago. They are a bumpy ride for sure but so much freedom! Since I did all the checks and made sure the maintenance was updated, it was very safe.
Key West started as a refuge for pirates, smugglers and shipwreck salvagers. It has become a tourist area, so I guess it's basically the same as it's start.
Pirates are still here. Avoid Christmas Tree Island unless it's during the day and you have a big group. Even then... People get tempted by the great snorkeling and empty beach then get ambushed. You could probably get away with snorkeling and fishing during the day if you don't actually make landfall but they will raid nearby boats at night. The island is in a sort of legal black hole where nobody has jurisdiction so no policing of the pirates unless someone gets shanked or hijacked. Classic Key West. lol Avoid the island and you'll be fine though, the pirate know full well their legal protections and won't risk it by messing around where the police and sheriff have authority.
Key West has changed so much throughout the years. I lived on Big pine back in the early to late 80’s. Yes, drove over the OLD 7 mile bridge everyday as I worked at the Winn Dixie on Marathon. I was there when KW became the Conch Republic. Yes, I went through the BS border security. The keys are and have always been a unique and wonderful way of life. I miss it terribly and it will always be in my heart. ❤️
the biggest event on almost any day in key west is going to the square at dusk and most of the city stands on a doc and watched the sun drop into the sea. and everyone cheers. I can't believe they skipped that.
Key West is a major tourist destination. All year-long tourists are visiting. Making parking a nightmare. I was there in February, a bit cold, and couldn't find parking anywhere. Chickens and roosters are the mascots of Key West. They roam free all over the island. They now impose fines if you are caught feeding the birds. 6 toed cats are called Hemingway cats. It's gennitic. Hemingway was gifted a 6 toed cat that reproduces, and now there are tons of them. Drinking and eating are the most common activities on the island. The homes are well over a million. It is a cruise stop on many itineraries. It's a fun place to visit at least once in your life. I've been twice now, spaced 25 years apart. Oh, Key lime pie is the state pie. Sweet, tart, and delicious!
Been to key west a lot as I live in south Florida. It’s a whole other vibe and so fun. The sunset cruise is all you can drink (been on that a bunch) and a must do.
Florida is a lot like Jamaica in the summer. Rain every afternoon is very common but it usually only lasts for an hour or so. And it brings down the temps which is very welcome.
I lived in Key West for a couple years. There are about 25000 residents plus all the tourists it can get crowded.😁. It is the southern most point of the Continental US andyou have to cross 42 bridges to get to it including the longest which is 7 miles long. Very fun place to visit.
The feral chickens are mad!! We arrived in Key West late in the evening after a very long all-day drive. Rolled into our motel room totally exhausted and fell into bed by midnight. Next thing I remember was being awakened by a rooster outside our door doing their morning cock-a-doodle-doo to greet the sunrise. I woke up feeling just as exhausted as when I went to bed and grumbled holy xxxx it feels like I only slept one hour and it's morning already! Rolled over and looked at the clock. I had only slept an hour. It was 1:30 AM! The crazy feral roosters crow at random times all night long / all day long. They're kind of like the town mascots.
Better have a lot of money if you want to live there ~ ~ ~ ~ Housing costs are typically the most significant expense in the Florida Keys, with median home prices of $999,000 and median listing home per square foot of around $869, depending on the island and proximity to the water. The average cost of a one-bedroom apartment is $3,475 per month.Mar 1, 2023
Famous for Hemingway's house, Jimmy Buffet, a lot of gay people (it's their thing), a TON of tourists, and hurricanes. Key West is a straight up tourist island. It does have residents full time, but most of them work the businesses on the island. The 7-mile bridge that asked how long was it, well, it's 7-miles long. I am not into key lime pie, but it's a huge thing down there, and probably most of Florida. It tastes like lime.
@@TanyaQueen182 Polydactyly (extra digits) is an incredibly common mutation in cats, and there are a number of places in the world where it's become the norm in the local cat population. In addition to the Florida Keys and northern New England, there are also regions of Wales and Cornwall that are known for their extra-toed cats.
Yes Key lime pie and lemon pie 🥧 is really big in America, you will find it in many stores at least here in Texas and Florida as well. I think is more of a Summer dessert tho. It’s delicious 🤤
The Florida Keys are a long string of islands connected by a single lane (each way) road Rt. 1. It takes a few hours to go from Key Largo which is the beginning of the keys down to Key West. Your video reminded me that I need to give my old next door neighbor a call who moved there. I saw her last summer in key Largo. As for the small plane, I'm with you....too chicken to go up in one of those! Just finished the video and the place they went to dinner was where I had gone with my old neighbor when I went to visit. Lots of fun and great food!
key lime pie is huge in the keys and south florida, not sure if its as big everywhere else... also to answer your question, geographically the keys are just south of south florida, they are a string of islands just off the mainland interconnected by bridges the longest being the "famous" and aptly named 7 mile bridge (about 11.3 km)
Key limes are small, tart limes that are specific to the Florida Keys. Key lime pie is basically heaven on a plate. Rain is a regular thing, even when the sun is shining. Yeah, Florida does get tornadoes, but Key West you have to watch out for Hurricanes. Tons of history. Lots of fun. Totally laid back.
I was teaching in Tampa when us group of teachers went to Key West for a week. I was ready to have my landlord pack my clothes and ship them to me!! I was seriously contemplating staying. I Loved It. But it did rain everyday, with and without sunshine; hey! That’s Florida. And there were power outages daily for a couple of hours around the time we were getting ready for the night.
Key West has a wild pirate history! It was also known as an island for fugitives. It used to be a wild place. In the 1980s, they half-heartedly ceceded from the US and established the Conch Republic. One of the most unique places in America.
I grew up in Connecticut in the woods and we took in a stray HUGE, orange, tiger cat and he had 7 toes and 8 claws. On the "thumb" was a claw that was like a lobster claw. Our vet guessed it MIGHT be a hybrid of an orange tiger cat and a bobcat or lynx! He also couldn't meow. Very strange cat but awesome!
Key West is absolutely amazing. Beautiful- PLUS the Fanatsy Frst is held there. I go down every summer to visit the extended family. As a Floridian, it's my favorite area. Tends to get devastated by Hurricanes, tho.
The overseas highway is 113 miles long and goes over 44 islands ending in Key West, you should check out a road-trip video there are so many interesting things to see along the way, also look into St. Augustine in north Florida, another huge tourist destination. If you want to see sharks and alligators watch videos of Florida springs and aerial videos of the beach, you’ll see just how close people get to these creatures.
Yes, The Florida keys are below (but attached) us. Key west is the last island of the keys. Key Lime Pie is Florida's state desert. Although they changed it recently to Strawberry Shortcake (for some strange reason), but us locals & natives still consider Key Lime Pie King. Yes, we get tornadoes but not a lot. Yes, you can swim with dolphins. Yes, you can snorkel with contacts in. Yes, Key Lime Pie is that good.
Key West and the other Keys are amazing. I go there all the time! Its the Southern most point in America, 90 miles from Cuba. They are islands and Key West is where Florida and the U.S. mainland end. One of my favorite things to do is go to restaurants where they have the tables and chairs right on the beach, I order some incredible seafood and dig my feet in the sand while watching the sunset. Heavenly ❤
It’s the great place to spend my summers and weekends, when I went to university down there back in the 80s. That being said, most of the roofs are white because it reflects the most sunlight and makes it easier to keep the buildings moderately cool inside.
When they started talking about the chicken fighting, your reaction was hilarious. Every time I went to key west it was wild chickens everywhere just wondering around, on side walks, shops, restaurants. Just watch where you step. Best seafood I’ve ever eaten there at key west.
I would look up the Florida Keys. I lived in the Keys for five years, 25 miles from Key West. There are a couple of small beaches and one at Fort Zachary. I haven't lived there for almost seven years, but i know that if you are there on your birthday, you can show your ID and you can do some things at places for free. You need to explore all of the Keys. These islands are over 100 miles from one end to the other.
Lewis- about 20 years ago, my friend talked me into a trip to Key West. I had visions of roughing it in the wilderness. I even brought my own toilet paper! Imagine my surprise when we finally arrived and the first thing I saw was a MALL! LOL. Then I refused to leave without some key lime pie!
A friend in Church, many years ago, took my mother and I for a ride in his 4 seater. He was a very experienced pilot so I had no qualms. But weather, pilot error and scanty maintenance can be big risk factors for small planes. Especially in foreign countries. At the end of the day a lot of things are out of our hands, anyway. But yes, small private/corporate/commercial craft are more risky, statistically speaking, than large commercial craft.✈️
She wasn't saying a lot of the cats in Key West have six toes. She was just saying that a lot of the cats around Ernest Hemingway's home are descendants.
Off the Florida Keys There's a place called Kokomo That's where you wanna go To get away from it all ..... Beach Boys song "kokomo" The Keys are Island paradises according to the song, I don't doubt it they never were cheap to visit as I understand but they sound amazing. And to answer your question about Key Lime Pie it originates from the Keys the actual lime used is the Key Lime grown there and the key lime pies when done right are absolutely delicious, I'm not a huge Pie fan but when there is Key Lime Pie I can't ever resit.
Key West is awesome, laid back, interesting landmarks and history, fun shops, snorkeling, jet skiing, great food and drinks and party atmosphere. One of my favorite vacations and my hubby and I drove from Miami. Long drive but extremely scenic. Planes land on Key West, so there is that. Key West is quirky and unique and it's worth a trip! Go snorkling! It was great and we saw nurse sharks but they were laying on the bottom and snoozing. Nurse sharks don't bother with you if you don't bother them. No problems, only great fun!!
We had our daughters destination wedding there in October. It was awesome at a resort that was beautiful. Had her rehearsal dinner at a rooftop restaurant and it was gorgeous. It was over 100 degrees the day of the wedding. A great memory for all of our family who came in from all over the USA
I really love Key West. I visited when my daughter lived there. The chicken sound that you hear is because chickens wander all over Key West. They are everywhere. I think you might have to be a tourist to love it. My daughter didn’t love it there. The jobs there don’t pay enough for the expensive cost of living. Everything is geared towards tourists. She didn’t have a car but rode a moped. That meant that she was island bound because mopeds are not allowed on the highway that goes through the keys. When I visited I rented a car and that was the first time she had been off Key West. I drove her to some of the other keys and she loved the turtle hospital and deer refuge.
Key West is one of those places that's absolutely amazing to visit but very challenging as a place to live. It's true of many of the most appealing tourist destinations.
I went to Key West a few years ago highly recommend!! Yes Lewis the Chickens and Roosters have free run of the island and it is against the law to harm them. So while you’re eating you may have a chicken or 2 at your feet. Mallory Square has a sunset festival every night where you can go sit and enjoy the beautiful sunset shop with street vendors and watch live performers. Amazing food, museums, shops, nightlife literally something for everyone. Also they have a glass bottom boat tour that takes you out over the coral reef 🪸 🐡 🐟 🐠 absolutely amazing!!
Lewis you weren’t listening at the beginning where Nat said they were going across the 7 mile bridge to Key West, an island 8 miles long, the most southern island. They key islands are south of Florida. Key Lime Pie was invented there made with limes and meringue or whipped cream. I’m not a fan but lots of people love it.
My father was an F-4 pilot and used to take my sister and I flying in little Cessnas and gliders. He would pull acrobatic moves that turned us green! I loved it, though. Now that I'm older and have seen how many of those little planes go down, I couldn't be paid to fly on one again.
I lived in South Florida from 59 to 88. The Florida Keys were empty and wide open I loved going there all the time with my friends in high school.Late 60s, early 70s. Talk about fun. I moved away because Fl was getting way too crowded. Wonderful memories, though.
Any bar that has a sign on an oak tree that says "Ernest Hemingway pissed on this tree" is my type of place. Next time be sure to check out Sloppy Joe's Bar.
Key West is beautiful and very historic. The polydactyl cats are adorable! They really only live on the Hemingway property. There are over 60 cats on the property and they have fullyime cat care people. The roosters are all wild and roaming the streets. You just keep walkin', they don't bug you!!!
It’s so fun! You would really enjoy it. There’s so much to do snorkeling and diving and swimming and so much good food to eat. We have the best food down here
