You definitely need to wash your whites separately from colors! Even an item you have washed many times, particularly if it's a bright color like red, can turn your whites a funky color.

I was born in NYC, and moved back to live here permanently more than 40 years ago. Unfortunately, we rarely get much snow these days. Over the last two winters we have had less than four inches total. In addition to a large upscale shopping mall The Oculus has a large underground transportation hub with 12 subway lines and PATH trains to New Jersey. I was trying to figure out where she lives. Looks like a really nice 1 bedroom duplex with an outdoor terrace on the Lower East Side. I'd guess her rent is around $4-5k a month.

That apartment must be at LEAST $5000 per month. She has an expresso/cappucino machine. The outside fire escapes are common all across the US. In many cases, they are required by law. In case of fire, there must always be an alternate way of escape.

I grew up in NYC and always recommend visits during Christmas because while it is tourist-packed, it's still the best time of the year to be in New York imo.

Former dermatology nurse here. All you really need to do for skin care is to wash your face with a gentle non-soap cleanser and use a moisturizer with sunscreen every day. A little retinoid couldn’t hurt (for acne/wrinkles) but that’s really it! Love your videos!

The oculus was mostly dug out from the ground hence the price tag. It’s a shopping mall and a transportation hub for the subway system and the trains to get to New Jersey. The topper is steel and glass. It’s fricking expensive to dig anything in New York City not to mention the work it takes to create a tunnel for the subway. It’s the work unions there as you have to pay the Sandhogs who build the tunnels, the port authority who approve the land, and transportation officials. The oculus was not supposed to happen as the land was earmarked for something else until this project fell into their lap and it got built.

Paying the phenomenal prices for a tiny apartment, watching the same old building slowly fall apart, constantly hearing sirens, ambulances, and loud "music" from neighbors you have never talked to, whether it is night or day, is just amazing. Once you learn to filter out all the people and noise you are living the dream. Just you and the pigeons. I feel sorry for those people that live outside the city where they pay the same price or less for a large house and land that they can call their own in peaceful quiet and cinematic scenery with green trees and bustling nature. Sure it takes them 5 minutes to get to the stores in the same amount of time your taxi takes to get 2 blocks with the knowledge that you still have 30 minutes to get there 8 blocks away, but that is because the city is where the action is and everyone lives here and the streets are always packed with honking cars. Sure they have deer and all matter of birds and other animals, but we have animals too. We have squirrels and pigeons everywhere, that's about all the nature I need. Very few places in the city allows pets, but who needs the smell anyway? A lot of people in the City do not even have cars, you just use the taxi's to get around, or walk. And for those that only work in the city, cars won't necessarily get you to work on time because of the constant traffic. For instance people living in Long Island that work in New York City simply pay the fare and ride the train system into the City, for two hours. Of course , you obviously have another 2 hour ride back home every night, but that beats the three hour traffic jam every day.. I love the city. There is always action. You can walk down the street and see a couple muggings, some tires being stolen off a parked car, maybe a stabbing or two. The last time I watched some old lady getting her purse stolen from her shoulder and she actually looked at me like "Why aren't you helping me?". Obviously she has not lived here long enough. I just could not imagine living in the country where everyone knows everything about their neighbors and are dumb enough to get suckered into helping them do something. They don't realize that people will just expect it again at another time. I can only see it as a unnecessary burden like having to mow your green lawn all the time. Then, you have to fill that big old house with more furniture, larger beds, and wall hangings than you could ever need or would fit in a city dwelling. Yeah, some country folk have swimming pools in their back yard with their patio BBQ and lawn chairs, but we have city pools and a BBQ restaurant a few blocks away we can walk to. Imagine having to clean those? No thanks, I stay safe here with my brown and gray cement sidewalks and buildings, oh, and my pigeons. (Watch your step). >> Obvious satire.

They sell laundry sheets for putting in the washing machine called "Color catchers" if you can find them online you can just throw one in the washing machine when you have colors that might run. It stops it very well.

I went to NYC in December and it was so pretty. Went to Niagara Falls and the spray was ice hitting you in the face. There was a protective barrier to keep the ice out of your face.

The "outdoor stairs" are common across cities and even towns. That's a fire escape, and they're often required by code because fires were devastating back in the day, when there weren't easy escapes from upper floors and city buildings were so close together fire would spread rapidly.

Born and raised in NYC, haven’t lived there in 40 years. I still go for museums, theater, etc. It has a special vibe and I love it but unless you’re doing really well, it’s a tough grind on the daily. Life was easier in Philadelphia. I could afford to buy a house there. Lived there 30 years. Now I live in New Jersey, close to Philadelphia. A little slow but quiet and pleasant for my older years. Love your reactions!

I have lived in NYC since 1978. I like pizza, but I would rarely eat it out with friends. When I get it, it is almost always just one slice for a snack. She says that this is her first time getting pizza at this very popular pizza joint. Coming to NYC right before Christmas will be fun but expensive. For less expensive lodging, get a hotel in Weehawken or Jersey City, New Jersey, and take the train into Manhattan in the morning.

I live 5 hours from NYC. I'm 55 and haven't been there since I was 11. Nothing against the place - it looks like an awesome place to visit - but it's insanely expensive to even visit, much less live there. I can literally fly to Portugal and spend a week (maybe two!) there for less than driving to a couple of days in NYC. And the flight to PT is about the same amount of time it would take to drive to New York. I understand that it's at the top of the list for foreign visitors because it's a bucket list level trip, and basically it's the same to most of us, but it's hardly representative of the rest of the country.

As a New Yorker I think your idea of visiting around Christmas time is a good one, nothing beats that kind of winter magic with the Christmas markets and beautiful store window displays. Just beware it can get very cold during that time of year. But another good time would be mid-late April/early May, before it gets too hot. The city just feels more beautiful with the spring flowers and trees blooming and the temperature is perfect during that season. I would not recommend summer-time, it's unbearable in the heat and humidity.

When you wash clothes especially new ones that you just bought. You have to put them with the same colors because the residual dyes that were used will mix with the other clothes. Only after the first few washes you can mix them all together. Also another thing to consider is that if you sweat often and wearing a white shirt. The sweat will turn the shirt pale yellow. So you'll need bleach to keep it white.

Oculus isn't a statue. It's a shopping mall and transportation center. That's why the $4 billion price tag.

Also, NYC can be overwhelming in size and feel rather like running around a beehive (depending on area and time of day). The good news is it's actually pretty easy to navigate because everything is numbered and if lost, you only have to go to the end of the block to see which direction you're going! Walking NYC is a great way to get extra steps in lol

I've been to New York many times. It's a great place to visit. I even did Times Square one New Year's Eve and watched the big ball drop at midnight. It was absolutely jam packed, but it is fun to be able to say that I did it once!

I was there and it snowed and omg it was unreal. I went to Central Park and there were kids in a snowball fight that looked like it could be from a movie. A lot of it is that the snow covers the grime and other unsightly things ;)

There is a product called color guard or something like it that looks like a dryer sheet but you put it in the washer of you’re washing whites with colors or jeans with other clothes. Something that tends to bleed its color, because it’s new or just loses color with each washing. The color guard sheet will keep that from happening. I use them a lot!

I've lived in NYC my whole entire life. I grew up really lucky because my parents got a really big house in Brooklyn. I really recommend you visit NYC during the winter as it is the best time of the year. However, I do warn you that it will be very packed.

I have friends in NYC who haven't left a 5 block area in about 30 years. The 4 Billion also includes the transportation hub under that she didn't even show. You saw maybe 20% of the building. Colors get washed in CLOD water. Whites get washed separatley in hot water. Also, don't expect any snow at Christmas. Last time was back in 2009.

The stairwells outside the buildings, are fire escapes. The last floor does not have stairs from outside. The last flight of stairs, is spring loaded and only works if you come from above it. This keeps unwanted visitors from climbing up it.

There is a product called “Color Catcher”. It is small sheets that when used when you use washing machine it grabs any loose color that gets into wash water. Not 100% but does work well. Check your laundry section in supermarket.

Spent many years in NY and NJ. Now back in PA mountains. A world of difference especially in finances and housing in the positive. direction. You can actually survive here on social security alone in own home even. I do.

You need to come to NYC at Christmas time. We love Christmas and the whole city is decorated from the store fronts, to the houses, to the trees. NYC is a special place during Halloween and Christmas. We do it up big for both holidays. Also, walking around in the chilly weather is perfect. I hope you come visit us soon!

The stairs outside on buildings are actually “Fire Escape “ stairs which have been around for decades. Surprised you didn’t know this. You see them in many movies especially movies made in New York. 😊

Fire escapes are a NYC metro thing. Apartment buildings by law need 2 stairway exists. Those old buildings were only built with one internal staircase. So to retrofit the second stair they added them to the outside of the building. They are no longer used for new builds (or renovate d buildings), cuz they build 2 internal staircases, or they install a sprinkler system now.

Many cities have fire escapes (the metal stairs outside) and our place in Boston had one and once we locked ourselves out and we had a friend, who was limber, hop up onto it and go into our bedroom window ,which we knew we had left unlocked, thank goodness. haha.

You should go down the whole east coast. You will see a huge difference in the southern states. Then fly out and visit denver, las vegas, las angelas and seattle

The best time of the year in NYC is fall. September can still be pretty hot but October and into November are my favorites. Take it from someone who has 20+ winters here.

The WTC transit center is a giant subway/ train station. That’s just the main hall you saw. That’s only 1/2 the building complex.

Having family that lived for 40 years in a loft apartment in Tribeca, in obviously great jobs; their routine was more of waking up early, one biked to work and one took the subway, work work work, gym, work at home, then time for anything more fun/cultural much later on. They also cooked most meals. It's just normal life in a very busy place, but where you might have an accidentally magic moment. :)

It's hard to really tell how big the space is at ground zero fountain. Some nut actually went down there and then intentionally fell down into the center of the fountain and it's a big freaking fall. It was all on video you can probably look it up on RU-vid and you can really see how massive it is. The west or maybe it's the east village I haven't been there in years and just don't remember exactly but it is a super cool, mellow, and also now super super expensive place part to live in. It used to be tenament buildings and it's where little Italy is and all the Italian immigrants moved into in the early 1900's. My great grandparents lived there and luckily my family still owns the same apartment there and it's also rent controlled so rent is only I think it's now $1500 a month but typically rent for 1 bedroom there is gonna be like $3200 to $4500 a month. It's kinda crazy the bakery my great grandfather opened up across the street from the apartment is still there as well.

Every city that I have been to has fire escapes on the outside of buildings built before the fire codes required indoor stairwells to be fire rated. Any building over three stories that has been grandfathered in is required to have a fire escape. As new buildings replace old ones you will see them less and less.

Those are fire escapes on the front side of the apartment buildings and some buildings have them on the backside too , i remember as a kid me and my friends would climb outside of our window to go on them and just sit there joke around while listening to music from our boombox , growing up i seen people that would bring out their grills and bbq some food on them and just chill with friends on a hot summer day

When I was young I worked in Downtown New Orleans. I saw the same people every day , day in and day out, because we had the same schedules. No matter how big the city people do have routines.

My Skin care routine. DON'T WASH YOUR FACE. ONLY CLEAN WITH WATER. That's it. Haven't had a zit in years. But then again I'm 61. Use moisturizer once in a while if face feels dry. (Its usually my forehead though) If you do by chance have zit problems clean face everynight with Noxema and if a zit pos up in the morning (a whitehead) don't pick at it just scrape it off with your fingernail.

I can tell you to plan it out and book your hotel as soon as possible when your plans are solid. It's hard to find a hotel in NYC around Christmastime and especially during New Years. Some people book hotel rooms around Times Square just to watch the Ball drop in comfort (bathroom, warmth, and food lol) on New Years eve. They book months in advanced. See watching the ball drop in person in the crowd on the street is fun but not what people expect. It's obviously crowded you have to get there hours and hours before to get a good spot and once you're in you're in, no leaving your place to go get food or use the bathroom until after the ball drops and people leave to go elsewhere (home, parties etc.) a few days after the ball drops you see tons of confetti in the street. It's cute until it's not. LOL.

Well I guess you could call it a stairwell, But it's one that you do not want to have to use. These are known in the US as fire escapes. If the building has a fire you use these stairs to get out of the building, They're usually right outside your window so you pull the window up go out and run down the stairs to get away from the fire burning in the building.😎

Those "outside staircases" are fire escapes. They're there so people can climb out their windows & grt down to the ground in case of fire.

Coffee grinder is usually a different machine than the coffee brew machine. Though I think you can get a combo machine.
