So what exactly is the purpose if the indicator..?

I simply set my calendar to remind me in two months when I change our 6 brita pitcher filters. When it goes off, I open the reminder item and add 2 more months, as I change the filters.

After 1 month the bacteria inside multiplies so much that you're damaging yourself.

I just called Brita to order a replacement timer, and they said this information is incorrect. They do not sell or have a replacement parts. They only option is to replace the entire pitcher.

this makes me laugh as there are SO many USA only things that don't state that. You are just getting a tiny taste of what the rest of the world gets consistently

Okay, but does anyone remember how long a cartridge may sit in the pitcher? Is it three weeks? Four weeks? Help!

Agreed! There is no way that it can assess the state of a filter or ascertain how many water refills there have been. It’s just a joke!

This is how you are paying for the replacement Rob - they sell your data. The 'timer' is only an indicator which estimates when you should replace the filter. If you are a consistent user and normally replace the battery three weeks, then just continue to do that. Do we really need an electric gadget on the flippin' lid? 🤔

Buy a calendar or download a free one and place a 2-month reminder for yourself.

did the same with me....they would rather see a perfectly good pitcher go in the land fill than replace the memo timer.....so much for being socially responsibility!

Planned obsolescence, bad policy.

Maybe they have way to distinguish between a in warranty item and one that's too old for them to cover. A replacement outside warranty could cost to the user half or more the half the price of a new pitcher.

I had the same experience. They didn't offer an indicator. After complaining a lot, they said they would send a $10 coupon. But I don't want to buy another pitcher. I will just put the replacement dates for the filters in my calendar.

@@ArthurComegno It seems that they only send out free replacements in the UK. I rang the number given above, and a nice lady took my details and sent me a replacement free, and no postage. Knowing I was going to get a new one, I couldn't resist trying to open the old unit, as described in the other video. It worked! However, the "cage" over the battery was different on mine (and in the new one supplied hy Brita). No need to cut the plastic side of the case. There are 3 little "claws" over the battery. A single one, and a pair. Just lever up 2 of the claws with the point of your craft knife blade, and the battery will pop out. When you replace the battery, the 3 claws will pop back down into their little holes, using the tip of the blade again.

they dnt ask for any warranty or product code information, you give your name and address thats all. As i went through this myself.

Now, it's easier enough to just remember the change date through a calender or a reminder, but a user friendly way should have been a better manufacturer policy. Of course, IMO. 😉

It's not just about the battery, I replaced my one but turns out the chip is faulty. And there is nothing I can do, button in unresponsive. Keep your condesending comments to yourself or think if there is any value in sharing them first, the only value I see is making yourself feel like you're better than others? I do not know a single person who do not care about the planet, they might be uneducated or misinformed and make poor choices but they still care. In short -- keep your elitist gatekeeping to yourself, lad.
