in my house the sheite words diversity & inclusion are not allowed. its a fucking industry and the bbc are part of it and therefore banished.licence cancelled. they have been infiltrated by a bunch of bent wokes and therefore now irrelevant to the majority of decent thinking british people.
Let’s be real the tv licence made sense in the 40s,50s,60s,70s,80s and 90s cause there was no social media or streaming but in 2024 where we have all of that the tv licence is bloody archaic bbc when they issued the licence in 1946 the bbc were essentially the only broadcaster in Britain. But they’re not anymore cause there’s also sky and itv and channel 4 and e4 and other broadcast companies. They’re not the only ones anymore
Michael the BBC continue to pay the pedo's to keep themselves from being exposed of the same crimes, everyone who continues to pay the Tv licence & any taxes are supporting money laundering child & drug trafficking.😡
Problem is when the iconic BBC intro to the news doesn't sound all brits know the world is ending. If it is abolished well firstly Chaos as the news goes dark.
Here in the USA we have something similar to your BBC It's called, NPR/PBS/CPB the only difference is we don't have too pay a ''license fee'' instead they bug you for donations on their annual ''telethons'' the BBC should be dismantled.
It takes 8600 BBC licence fees to pay LINEKER ….it takes 3030 BBC licence fees to pay FIONA BRUCE……it takes 2003 BBC licence fees to pay MUNCHETTY. CLOSE IT DOWN NOW!
Oh dear. Are all three of them on the BBC...? A collection of the most sickeningly smug & repulsive characters on TV. Still, I bet they were close to Huw Edwards. Cosy. ☺️
Must admit I don't know which demographic likes Fiona Bruce so much not on current affairs anyway, so many better people pick someone from independent media
Never understood why the pay Lineker that much. Ignoring his politics all he does is appear on TV a few times a year and spout vacuous comments about a sport he seems to have lost interest in.
I haven't watched BBC for over 4 years, but I still pay the fee because I'm unsure of my rights? I'm scared to cancel, because of the bullying letters that I have read others receive. I do have Internet, does that affect me?
@@christinalock9937 As long as you dont watch iplayer or ANY live TV broadcast you don't need a licence. Catch up players for other channels are fine. It's as simple as that. Don't let anyone confuse or bully you!
@christinalock9937 believe me it's easy just tell them you longer watch " Live" TV.. We did 5 yrs ago.... they wrote after first year we repeated the first letter..... not heard anything since. But then again we only watch our extensive dvd boxsets . Don't be intimidated
How many times have I heard this, the bloody bbc are finished but it's still broadcasting so how can it be finished, if only it was, but iv'e yet to see it taken off air, then I'll believe it
It depends on when you believed in them, it once did deliver a public service. And it still does, provided you don't watch news or current affairs, and then you do have to choose carefully.
Yes! get rid of the BBC, get rid of the EU, get rid of the ECHR, get rid of foreigners, get rid of all those who cannot trace their ancestors back to at least the Norman Conquest... The French were more 'canny' than you all thought they didn't want your form of right wing government..Whats more the British don't want farages reform either...
What TOTAL MADNESS to still be paying Huw Edwards, when he doesn’t EVEN WORK for the British BIASED Corrp any more. That would be MY hard-earned Pension going to him - if I paid it. Does he feel any remorse for still taking it from the Licence payers I wonder ?
@@jeremysmith8035I think you will find pensioners no longer watch the BBC. All those ok my are stuck off the propaganda and have switched over. My mother actually watches other nations news to find out what really is going on.
A bit of prison time wouldn't coma amiss either. The infantile views promoted by Wimminz Hour alone should be enough to close Radio 4: dishonest, disingenuous and disruptive views aimed at little girls trapped in adult bodies.
@@cashkitty3472 UK Column still has real journalists. It's on YT at the moment but keeps getting booted off. They said years ago that private car ownership was going to end and that EVs would be a disaster.
For decades footballers have justified their high salaries on the grounds that their career is very short. Gary Lineker and others have proved that this is not the case so should players not be paid less since they can clearly go on long after their hair turns grey?
£1.39 million salary? And it comes with total lifelong job security. Not like our politicians and everyone else that has to earn a living. That other parasite Graham Norton (Irish) did everything to decry Brexit. Nasty, nasty, left wing Marxists one and all at the BBC, the Bullshit Broadcasting Corporation.
Bradley Welsh of The Chase has a personal fortune of over £20 million. Presumably earned from his TV salary. He seems to be a decent guy though and probably earned it, unlike Lineker and Graham Norton. Anyway, when REFORM take power the BBC will be history! 🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧
Champagne Socialists? Have you 'quantum leaped' in from the 1930s?? People with means can still hope for a more just society (and not vote purely on selfish reasons) in the same way that some less well off people vote Tory or Reform in the deluded belief that these party's would somehow improve their lives (possibly by deporting people of a different colour or faith). I drank two bottles of Champagne on election night, but it was Co-op Champagne (as recommended in The Guardian) so does that give it Socialist credentials and make it all right? I haven't laughed so much in ages! As to impartiality, the BBC seems to do a reasonable job, albeit by avoiding the issues and not challenging the views of the far right, for example Boris' dodgy Brexit figures. Hopefully the new government will force Ofcom to properly enforce the impartiality rules for other news channels, such as GBN, and fine them and/or revoke their licence if they refuse to comply. Chin Chin. 🙂

All their coverage during the Hamas terrorist attack was anti Israel, and Lineker was allowed to spout his anti Israel views without any warning from the BBC as far as I can make out. Where is Mosad when they are needed?
When you were a babe in arms all your parents would have had on TV was BBC... thats when everybody was discussing was an X Ariel better that a H type..life was so much simpler them no right wing social media complaining about everything and everybody....especially foreigners and Europe......
@@gekizai I'm still disturbed that people who are - rightly - angered by how Mr Saville was able to harm many young people are not made far more angry by the ongoing mass slaughter of children in Gaza by one of our closest allies, which the BBC and the rest of the corporate media fail to cover in any adequate sense. Mr S killed no-one.
@@robtheplod I done the 'No Licence Needed' Declaration thing 4 years ago, not had any begging letters or visits either. they just contact you every 2 years to check that your circumstances have not changed.
Your source for your 2m claim is? Even if it's true, it's just 8% of licence fee payers. Even more ludicrous is Heaver's claim that Britain as a whole is cancelling the BBC, when the 500000 he quotes is only 2% of licence fee payers. But, as ever, never let facts get in the way of a good trope, eh?
@@heathermcdougall8023 Have looked at the TV Licencing site, and can't find any figure of the 2m cancellations claimed On their website, it says "TV licencing data is reported on a monthly basis and relates to licences in force where the licence has been cancelled by TV licencing as a result of payment failure and by customers themselves. Consequently, these figures cannot be taken to mean the number of licences cancelled by customers" This means that the claims from Heaver and the papers about customer cancellations are invalid. Have also looked at the ONS site, and can't find any such figure. Can you help?
The Huw Edwards payment got me furious when I saw he was still paid when suspended. And he did get up to stuff with someone despite what the police said, they simply let him get away with it as they could not prove anything and he hid behind the mental health /illness escape clause, before retiring or whatever he decided to do. He should not have been paid while suspended. If he had done nothing wrong, he would have gone back to work and still be on our screens at the BBC. He was allowed to slither away quietly....
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx people have a choice with that, and aren't threatened to pay it with people coming around to the door or posting threatening letters through the door. Also I don't have to pay them a "licence fee" if I want to vape using products from companies that have nothing to do with them.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx no because they're an extremist left-wing propaganda channel that hates our country, hates our culture, hates our traditions, and most importantly hates our people.
If it was representative of the British people there would be no need to complain. However, it is no longer representative of the average English person or of English democracy. In addition, the programmes on offer are either of low quality or are repeats.
Speaking of bias; as a public service, wouldn't it be better if the BBC has to pay *a fine* every time they're not being objective enough? That way they would have to change dramatically immediately or simply go bankrupt within a month or so.
The majority of these cases do not have a judge present. An electronic form is sent to a group judicial inbox, where a Magistrate just presses guilty, unless, on the very rare occasion someone actually challenges it.
If he was guilty then no worries! Just because he has cancer doesn’t make him less guilty. He could die and escape his punishment. The fact that he was ill in no way detracts from the guilt. You do understand that I’m simply reacting to your stupid argument!
George Orwell/Eric Blair worked there during the second world war and found it a bit distasteful, although he considered it by far the lesser of two evils considering the enemy at the time.
@@StraightOuttaCrofton Orwell was a socialist, but not a totalitarian. He was writing about what he was seeing in his own experiences. The thing about being a socialist is that I think it inevitably leads to totalitarianism. 🤷♂
@@SG-js2qn yes, broadly speaking. His disillusionment largely came from his experiences with the Soviet-backed PAUM during the Spanish Civil War: particularly their totalitarianism and the infighting between republican factions. Whether authoritarianism is *inevitable* in socialism depends on whether you consider social democracy to be socialism, but with that exception I would agree.
@@StraightOuttaCrofton The only way to avoid totalitarianism is to insist on minimal govt and to keep it starved for funds. The whole western world is currently facing the totalitarian consequences of funding a massive govt. It's perverse incentives. When you make people want to have a govt job, they want to keep it, and they want a bigger budget, and they want to hire more and have more power to protect their jobs, and then they're in charge and the people have no voice. All bureaucracies must be small and powerless.
@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx 2 questions, if you had sole authority to elect a party to be in power who would you choose? Also, do you think said chosen party would remove support for isreal killing Palestinians? Just curious.
@@stephenmiles8473 Such a scenario is repugnant. Socialism is about the working class taking the political power that belongs to us along with all the wealth we create that is right now being stolen by the ruling class for its personal benefit. So my personal views are irrelevant.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx well socialism would say your opinion matters very much as with everyone else's. I fear you may be a little charged and have your wires crossed. If however you haven't and your opinion is irrelevant then would that not also ring true to everyone else's if we're equal? Meaning no one's opinion matters. I myself feel everyone who belongs to somewhere has a voice that should be heard and pondered. To close one's mind to outside perspectives, even if those perspectives are not accurate, is to enable one who would seize and abuse power (the aristocracy) to lead us to where we are now. So I think your opinion matters very much and is why I would value hearing it :) This is also true to those who disagree with you, there opinion also matters and should be heard. So I'd ask again, what would you do?
My dad moved into a Full Time Care Home, I proved that this was the case, however the BBC wouldn’t refund his money & kept making excuses whey they shouldn’t.
@DerekLangdon The total number of households not paying that tax is now approaching 4.5 million. As each households represents multiple people, the total population not covered by a licence is probably in the region of 10 million.
When my daughter left home I got rid of the TV and stopped paying the BBCs tax. I don't watch anything that is contaminated with the main stream media viruses and it has been liberating both mentally and financially.
@@Kakarot64.They were doing this for years nobody remember the things on TV trying to scare people in the 70s with TV vans and all that? The only thing is the vans did nothing so they have to get them to knock on your door
Cancelled mine during Brexit after watching a BBC reporter interviewing a Cornish fisherman. Thankfully a bystander filmed the whole interview on their mobile phone and showed how biased the reporter was and how they cut and shut the interview to give a totally false representation in support of their rhetoric. It’s probably saved me over a thousand pounds since too, so good riddance BBC.🖕
Their news cover of the Israel-Palestine war, BLM promotion, Islamic migrants, illegal immigration and the pro English marches make it clear what the BBC stands for...and it is not England or our allies.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx Yes but the BBC is supposed to be impartial as it's a public service, it used to be, and you clearly don't know what you are talking about, and talking about things you don't know about just makes you look dumb.
The worst I heard was when the Pakistan cricket team refused to take the field after a dispute with an umpiring decision. The Pakistani team manager spoke on Test Match Special and apologised unreservedly stating the team were totally out of order. Over the next couple of hours, the BBC shamelessly doctored what he said until it sounded like he was justifying the team's actions - absolutely disgusting.
I used to like Doctor Who, but seeing recent episodes [at a friend's who still has a licence], I feel that the writers are starting with a gay plot, then adding an actual sci-fi story around it! I'n not homophobic, they can do what they like with a consenting adult, that's not my business. I just don't need them forcing it down my throat!
Google cancelling it. You can sign a declaration saying you don’t need one (whether you do or not is irrelevant they can’t force there way in to check) and say your vulnerable so they don’t send round agents to check
I cancelled mine after my mum died. I don't even have TV anymore. I either watch RU-vid, play games or read. I just dont get enjoyment out of anything the BBC has to offer
Not before time, the salaries are absolutely disgusting, expecting old age pensioners to pay that horrendous payment is shameful to pay for the likes of Lineka and Edward’s and Bruse,
Once upon a time the BBC made relevant, well- made and thoughtful programmes aimed at a wide range of viewers... now we have biaised, poor quality, woke crap aimed at a narrow brainless viewing group. It is not worth the licence fee any more. I for one have lost interest now in the BBC's pro Hamas, pro Trans and LGBTQ stance and its poor quality of 'so-called' journalism. It has more in common with Al Jazeera than Britain.
@@angelofamillionyears4599 In what parallel universe is RU-vid any kind of replacement for the Beeb? YT has political biases just as pronounced; plus it provides only a fraction of the services that the BBC does. I've not seen the RU-vid logo broadcasting from the Proms, Glastonbury or other festivals, for example. While the licence fee is contentious and the Beeb's Establishment political bias is clear, there's a vast array of useful and worthwhile programmes and services that it would be stupid to destroy.
I cancelled my licence this week. It took 4 attempts on line, which wouldn't take input from a Samsung tablet, 3 emails and then asked me to phone. The young woman was excellent, apologetic and got the job done. I await their letter. I'm 77, so not all elderly are suckered. She said someone may check. I shall not let them in.
They start sending letters automatically after 2 years, but don't worry - you can ignore the letters. You'll notice that they are addressed to "The Occupier", not to you directly.
Cancelled mine the minute the Saville case came to light, The BBC Knew what was going on and covered it up. I miss live sports but its a small price to pay. SCRAP THE FEE...
Mostly due to unfunded pension liabilities, like pretty much everything else. Think we will see "Can't pay, won't pay" within the next few years. Also the water bills might be refused on principle.
Not sure that Americans know that the Brits pay $220 a year to own a TV. A year! The government assumes that if you have a TV you must be watching BBC.
It's not "to own a TV". It's to watch a live television broadcast. Which could, of course, be done on a computer or iPad, etc. I don't think there's any "government assumption" involved. The fee is administered and enforced by a company called Capita.
We abolished the license fee in Finland around fifteen years ago. In its stead, we now have a media tax, meaning that everyone has to pay, like it or not. My point being, be careful what you wish for.
@@mikitzwe get a new tax every month its past a joke now when I was a kid you could buy most stuff now for at minimum half the price and wages haven't exactly risen that much in 10 years, cans of pop for 30p or a load of bread for £1 now your lucky to find cans under 90p and a load of bread that will go off in under a week will cost you close to £2.50, my point being they can't raise taxes much more because the breadline is slowly creeping up on a lot of people
TheBBC has protected Huw Edwards for many months continuing to pay his enormous salary. But how quick they were just last week to show ManchesterAirport Police in the worst possible way by only showing an edited version of the video. Judging a policeman who was doing his duty and preventing an extremely violent thug from hurting more people.I also saw BBC presenters stirring for all they were worth. It's so simple: The BBC should just be funded by the people who want to watch the BBC. You're not forced to pay Sainsburys an amount every year even if you shop at Tesco. The only reason they argue against it, is that they know the grift will be over when they have to start _earning_ their money.
So... you also would like to defund our health service, fire service (back to private insurance) and roads? You can drive only on those roads you've paid to drive on. Happy now?
It should be a choice, to whether we choose to watch this awful TV station. I'm appalled that governments who were elected in pay no attention to their voters?? I might add I never voted Labour..
I cancelled my license beginning of this year and removed my tv cable. I have not watched live tv for years and could not see the point together with the fact they cover up sex offenders It’s just a joke.
Remove the licence fee from the BBC, They don't deserve it especially with all the stirring they've done in the last 50 years. If they were shelved 50 years ago this Country would be better place for everyone
Same here. Stopped paying 20 years ago after a decade of paying for a black and white TV licence. After a couple of visits they soon stopped calling although the postal payment demands kept arriving. Not only did I save by not paying for the licence but I also got free toilet paper.
It's "licence" in the UK btw. US: license (n), license (v); UK: licence (n), license (v). - similar rule applies to UK practice (n) and practise (v). Also: your comment is an imperative statement, so should end with an exclamation mark: "Stop buying a TV licence!"
We have reached a point that ruling by referendum is the only way forward as there are so many disasters we were never asked about. Our politicians think we are thick and they think they own the country to do with as they please.
