thetruelie You're God damn rigtht, like saying "I once played Guitar Hero" to a guitarist, I mean it's not bad but it's more of a imitation than being the thing...
+thetruelie I get the impression when she says she's a Marilyn Manson fan what she means is she once heard 1 of his songs and thought "this is alright".
I thought he was decent at those growls. I think the judges and the crowd need to accept that basic pop music isn't the only genre in the world. They're just pressing the button because it's not their taste of music?
The X Factor/Got Talent audience are the lowest common denominator. It's hard for people with the IQ of an onion to grasp anything outside of 4 chords and a catchy vocal hook. In saying that, this wasn't a tremendous performance by any means. It wasn't bad at all, but because it's so out of place on a show like this, as a metal fan, it gives a kinda illusive effect that makes you believe it was better than it actually was.
This dude wasn't amazing but it was still pretty good. It's fucked up how most people don't understand that metal vocals actually take some fucking talent. This is also why I hate talent shows.
Troy Baker Of course he did not have the ideal of the original better. But this is my favorite band and I can forgive him for that. I did not expect that his throw. Every pop pass only. And so in all around the world show the same pop.
Troy Baker I know! The shows are all the same songs and no new talent has actually come through them. They all sound the same. This guy wasn't brilliant but he did far better than I ever could and I wouldn't blame hi if he slapped that simon dude with a frying pan. At least that would be more amusing than his commentary.
in here, Hungary it were a guy who sang Blessthefall and a girl who sang Asking Alexandria :D ps: sorry for my bad english, i've never lerned in school -.-" ... must lerned to german language, but i hope you understand this :D
why are these people so horrified ?! This is a normal music genre ? And the audience looks at him like he killed 10 people with a banana on stage .. Ignorant world.
+Drummer4Liife They are the usual ignorant idiots, so used to the brainless generic pop that comes out of the radio over and over and over again, with mostly only one line and sound repeated endlessly. The same face i make when i hear some (most) of the "popular" pop/rap songs in the radio.
+Lou Dicks im not a fucking singer, in guitarrist, but i can see that is not easy, and maybe isnt special do it, but is difficult, and also sing pop or other things like that arent special, and the most people who go to this program do it, but that is the comercial shit and people like it, and like i said is nothing special, a lot of people do it, but what? the fact that is nothing special doesnt means that is not difficult do it.
+papakfmcnados king Agreed, he needs to keep working on it but shit... he wasn't bad. Idk what he was thinking trying out on this show though, lol. Maybe if he knew how to sing...start off with the metal vox and surprise the hell out of the judges with clean singing.
+Christopher Phillips He probably went out on to this show and performed Parkway Drive to point the middle at this sorry excuse for entertainment, in a figurative sense.
this makes me cry. talent shows are literally nothing about talent. his cover of parkway is great but just because of the genre of music, its not accepted sigh
Jakob Flores stop being a fucking emo, firstly that was deathcore, not metal. secondly the world doesnt 'hate metal' its actually pretty popular. thirdly if your going to go on a POP show then dont expect to get threw when you dont sing pop, its a simple as that, sick of all you emo's trying to act different and act like every fucker on the face of the earth hates the music you listen too
This guy is a champ! He got up there and did his thing, not giving an F about the judges. He knew all too well that the judges would sack him. I am a bit disappointed that the judges didn't respect his work at all, they were just making fun of the lad. It shows how they don't know sh-t about how focking hard it is to master a decent growl or grunt or whatsoever. I liked the performance, especially his choice of song ;) Parkway Drive is my favourite band of all time so thumbs up for this guy! F-ck the haters
1:28 look at those faces. I feel so bad for the guy, at the same time, he carried the flag into battle, that's Metal attitude. Thank you man. And for these assholes brainwashed people, thank you for show your ignorance, prejudice, you make me feel more proud to be a metalhead. Keep living your life as a cattle, your son of a bitch.
+Sean Ellis dude what ass holes fuck that whole audience and judge panel because its not the music they like lol what are they judging on pop only how sad the world is to not open the horizons to metal great job man keep doing what you do parkway drive 4L
Simon V. V. One of my favorites that people say is "Oh they're just yelling into a microphone, that takes no skill" but the reality is that if that were the case, which it is not, metal singers wouldn't even finish songs live before being completely mute. They would permanently damage their vocal chords. It takes patience, and developed skill to do that.
It might not appeal to the judges but that was fucking good, obviously done by a professional. They should've at least acknowledged his talent even though it's not the genre they're looking for. Idiots.
it just shows how this world and how reality TV is very biased towards something that is "normal" and that it is filtered towards the type of genres that does really require much talent at all. they should just rename the whole "...got talent" franchise to "...got mainstream" or "...got Pop" or some shit. this is just embarrassing the poor guy in front of millions of people brutally instead of being fair on talent.
Alan Flindell I agree, You have to remember that these people are all about money in the end. They do not care about actual art, They like artificial songs that have 27 writers.
Alan Flindell I think that in order to break through to other people he would have needed a full band. Its hard to sell just the lyrics you need the whole package.
Honestly this just makes me love metal even more. If the judges sat down and looked at the lyrics of this song compared to all the other crap that pop songs have then they would realize there’s a million times more emotion and passion in this song than some stupid love ballad that’s been done a thousand times. This song talks about real issues that are happening in the world and it makes me sad that nobody takes him seriously or realizes how much thought is put into this music rather than just random screams.
Soooooo they all laugh at him but then when he leaves everyone applauds? Such a hypocritical program, damn, and talk about little to none musical knowledge. It's like they heard an alien sing. They consider themselves musical judges? In order to judge one must know what he/she is judging. They are not professionals, they are utter ignorants.
That's the problem with talent shows like this. They're accustomed to hearing mainstream music. Pretty disgraceful as far as I'm concerned because there are bands out their that could make a statement on one of these shows but then you have gobshite judges sitting behind the table expecting you to sing If by the off chance that a band performs on this show, plays a Parkway Drive song, does it really well but they still get turned down....then that is an absolute fucking disgrace to music! You have these people who call themselves "judges" but they don't even know what to look out for within this style of music. They only listen for the sound and nothing else. It's a joke!
"My ears are bleeding" *Everyone laughs* If she said that to a pop singer she would've gotten boo'ed lmao. Gotta love the double standard. This is why I stopped watching Got Talent shows. Regardless this dude was awesome, confident the whole time. If it was me I would've had 0 self esteem left lol.
They are so ignorant, they don't know anything and there they are rolling their eyes like this guy is crazy. Not a fan of Parkway Drive but I rather my kids listen to then than some rap crap full of negative messages. Also, Parkway Drive are some of the nicest dudes in the business, super down to earth and cool.
This is where the world of music and music industry is going. Refusing everything new, every new sound. Laying in their dust-filled armchairs listening to the same kind old shit pop. They didn't even tried to ask him what genre was singing because they had none interest in selling his music. They prefer little teenagers like 1D to sell their music and gain billions. They keep polluting with their anti-emotional shit.
I don't necessarily listen to metal or enjoy it, but I understand the effort that goes into it. Besides, people that win on this show don't even go very far. Also when the judges like someone they always say, "That's the best voice I've ever heard on this show." They say it every year, it's pointless.
TV just keeps sinking lower and lower in my eyes. The guy was genuinely good, and the choice of song was spot on. Indeed, what WILL they tell their children?
XLilMansonPeepX that goes to show the ABSOLUTE lack of knowledge that these fuckheads have about Metal... if they even cared to do at least a little bit of digging into Metal they might appreciate the art a bit more.
Bro thats the best audition I've seen in years lol there needs to be more of this lmao props to the man for having a pair to go up there and perform to the pop world
It takes talent to scream like that, but the fact that he put himself out there and the judges made fun of him. A label will see this and will probably pick him up. Because it obviously wasn't about making on bullshits got talent. It wants to do metal core, it's not about the fame or the money it's about the music. People listen to it and he can make a good living doin it. So good for you my friend.
I agree, like I said in an earlier comment; most people that even win on these types of shows don't even go very far. A few song here and there on iTunes, but that's it. People forget past winners anyways, but because he put himself out there with a different performance than the usual acts I'm sure he'll get noticed by the right crowds :)
I think if I were him, I would've politely asked their reasoning. Regardless of whether they like the genre of music (which I presume they most likely don't), the show is Britain's Got Talent. Again, even if you don't like the sound of his vocal style, to actually perform like that takes control, practice, time and skill. The judges' reasoning would probably be that they can't make his voice appeal to the masses and so they won't be able to rake in money generated from the show or any resulting record deals with this contestant. I'm interested at how they would hide that reasoning in their responses.
These judges are hypocrites! They're supposed to be open to all kinds of talent yet they refuse to accept metal core as a serious genre. They didn't even consider the difficulty of screaming in pitch. If this vocalist had been a homosexual man dressed in drag they wouldn't have hit the buttons.
Its a genera and life style for that matter that just doesn't belong in that world. Music that has feeling..real emotion...and a true meaningfulness....where the fuck is the money in that?
This stuff is amazing, keep on going lad! Much luck wished upon your journey to become a badass vocalist of wich i'm sure u have everything u need to get there. It makes me sad how much people dislike the genre and true, it's not for everyone, but for the people that do appreciate it, as for myself. It gave me the chills in a good way! Hats off!
I Am i agree, to be honest i found his growls not bad but his 'normal' range to be a bit under developed the judges shut him down for the wrong reasons though
Winston seemed to like it, said he had a lot of balls to take their music to a show like that =P
4 года назад
Went on stage and shut the shit down. The audience was shook. Didn’t know what hit them jaws dropped. The dude killed it. So sick. He’s got major balls
I hope a band sees this and picks him up to be their vocalist, because he's actually not bad and has the stage presence. Too bad BGT is so biased and ignorant against different music acts that aren't pop.
Yeah not everybody likes the music people sing on these talent shows. I am just disappointed that somebody can get kicked off of a show for singing different. I am not a vocalist I am a guitar player but I know enough about the vocals to say it takes more mastery than any of the other genres anybody on the show was singing.
I cant understand why the people in the audience and the judges find this so shocking ;O Well I kinda do understand because NO music on the radio is like this but like comooon its not THAT fkn "surprising". like yes this is what some people call music and yes it DOES exist. This guy has much more talent than a person who can sing "normally". This is so hard to manage, so well done to him :D
actually he has a good performance (only his highs need more work) but i think he's wasting his talent in that shitty show when the judges don't have any fucking idea about those kind of vocals... in my opinion what he should do is start a band or make some covers on youtube
Mark De Laak honestly they wouldn't even know who he is I gurantee it nobody on this show would they wanna see the same shit covers of adele and Rihanna to them thats music apparently lol
He’s a great one, he doesn’t care at all about what people think. Gg to you, respect for singing that kind of music in front of all of these fans of pop music
This is honestly stupid, these people have no idea how much talent and skill it takes to scream, his tone actually reminds me of Mitch Lucker formerly of Suicide Silence (RIP buddy, we miss you ❤️)
Look I don't love Metal, don't dislike it either. I'll listen to a song or two and then leave it at that. Not my kind of music but I can appreciate the music if it is good. I generally prefer Alternative rock, good ol' Psychedelic, Progressive, Jazz, Soundtracks/Orchestral, and Pop. I do not approve of any talent contest reality shows. They are nothing but schemes to create more revenue for the label that runs it by making contestants sings songs they own the rights to so they get paid by television stations but don't have to pay royalties to other labels. In the end the naive contestant gets screwed over and 9 times out of 10 never amounts to anything. Having said all that, it is amusing how narrow minded these judges are. They are supposed to know music. Well it turns out they don't know shit. Why would anyone subject themselves to this treatment from people who don't even know what they're talking about? Just to give you some perspective here, it could be much worse. Remember Nicki Minaj was a judge on one of these types of shows, and so was Jennifer Lopez. A great representation of "TALLENT" there.
Abandoned Elysium Haha, technically speaking I am involved with the music industry. I work as a session musician in Australia. Also working on getting a masters in education so I can teach. I do write, record and perform my own material in a group, mind you we aren't that successful... yet... fingers crossed :)
***** Again mate, I'm not too into Metal. The only band that comes close that I like and know songs of is Karnivool. They are a pretty sweet band. Personally as far as Aussie acts are concerned my top 5 choices are: Birds of Tokyo, Powerfinger, Kate Miller-Heidke, Missy Higgins, Vance Joy.
Macconator2010 if you are into progressive music but have trouble getting into metal, i would recommend opeth and their album watershed, i think you might enjoy it.
I would have given this man a round of applause if I was there. That took a lot of courage to get up on that stage especially on a show like Britain's Got Talent.
Not only do I commend him for doing this in front of a bunch of people that will obviously not appreciate metalcore vocals, but he's pretty damn good as well. The people in the audience didn't even give him the time of day, and people have the ignorance to say metalheads are assholes.
it pisses me off when they take the piss of this cuz I'm a vocalist myself and it took me 5 years to learn and that pretty much says they know nothing about music apart from pop or opera type of music. they should study metal
Nick emo4evershall love the others I think Corey Taylor should be one of the judges on a show like this, I think it'd be fucking awesome and at least he'd give guys like this a chance.
I remember this. I couldn’t even finish watching those “judges” just out him simply because they don’t like the style of music. It’s the best genre in my opinion and it definitely helps relieve oneself of a whole lot of aggression, especially as a young teenager. You’ll sure pass if you look and sound like a Barbie though! #metalcore4lifeee
I'll never understand why people will try to bring alternative music on a show that celebrates pop mediocrity. The whole point of most aggressive music is that it rejects societal conventions (like this show) and shows we don't need them. When people do this they're doing it for a reaction, and that reaction isn't "look at how cool and different and interesting this music is" the reaction is "look at that freak, let's have a laugh at them and how offended and uncomfortable all the normal people look".
He knew he was never gonna get through no matter how impressive his deep growls are but he was there to make a point and on the brightside, he could get noticed by some random band looking for a vocalist. For example, Dragonforce first noticed their new drummer because they saw his RU-vid cover of Through The Fire And Flames. Or he could just have lost a bet...
God that vocal is amazing to have I’m impressed and m8 doing a parkway drive cover big move I love it also that dude got a better chance on his own band and be better then the judge most metal bands are more popular then the judges 😂
I love all the peoples reactions, like this guy is the devil in disguise. Why are people looking so shocked? He didn't do anything wrong.....Conforming at its finest, makes me so irritated.
Mad props for doing this on national TV, knowing full well it'd be hated. As a side note, I think he covered it somewhat well, with the exceptions being on the high screams, but good on him regardless.
It wouldn't make a difference. If he's going to cover a song with those type of vocals he needs a band to back him up. It'll likely come across less awkward for the audience. Plus I think if you're ever going to cover a Parkway Drive song in a competition like this, you need to choose a song by them that has a guitar intro...at least then you'll probably be catching the audiences attention. Even though the chances of making it past the auditions with covering Parkway Drive songs are slim, I would've chosen songs like: A Deathless Song, Horizons, Alone, yes- Vice Grip could of been another one, The River or Destroyer.
Too bad the actual Parkway Drive lead singer posted this on his instagram saying, and I quote "he did an amazing job". But I guess you're a famous singer aren't you? =]
Pedro Wagner Pedro, I think he was talking about the 6 years old girl who was screaming too on America's got talent one year ago, and the jury found that really cute just because she was a little girl (she had 3 yes), which show the stupidity of these kind of shows
Your a Deadset legend mate, me and my mates where young but parkway had just came out and we would go to every gig we could when they played near us. But back then you stage dive and the energy they brought out of everyone was insane I loved it, they are legends in Australia 🤟🏻🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
