It's well documented that people who make negative comments and cast doubt seem much more intelligent than those who are actually making positive contributions. He just kept repeating "why?" and "how?" with nothing to offer when asked how HE will get his Theresa May's deal through even though it is THE most unpopular position in the country. You’ve got to realise the EU bosses will be watching this, they want to know who they are dealing with and how to react accordingly when the next PM goes to Brussels. it’s a game of poker, that is why you’re seeing 4 out of 5 saying no deal has to be there, to try and obtain a better deal than the UK have so far. Dom Raab is not saying let’s close parliament, but he is effectively saying to the EU, we are leaving whether you like it or not and it is in your interest (EUs) to start negotiating a realistic FTA with the UK. If the EU does not take the PM seriously, no more negotiating will take place. To publicly say on national TV, I want a new deal and I will definitely not walk away if the EU says no, the EU will be rubbing their hands as the UK PM will have their hands tied again like T.May, its suicide for negotiating. You HAVE to play your cards close to your chest and say we ARE walking away if we do not come to an agreement, once you start saying ‘we want a deal but we wont walk away’ you’ve lost ALL bargaining points at the table. To assume the EU want to help us as Rory thinks, it’s nonsense. This is business and the EU will never budge if the PM has no backbone as we’ve already agreed to the horrendous Withdrawal agreement.

@Keith Panton ah, the social democracy model where you can't buy a car since its taxed at 300%+, live in social housing and never own your home, and that are deregulating and engaging in austerity measures because the social democrat model is failing (this is the current state in Scandinavia) or do you mean the German one which exports a net 300 billion while the UK imports net 100 billion that has a system based on private ownership and near monopolies with government backing. Investing in the country and its people are buzzwords. @@James_Haskell I think voting to leave was the wrong decision but now that that's happened you need to get out. As much as I like Rory Stewart's ideas and messaging I can't see that being a good plan. Might be a decent PM if you ever get out but not before. Boris is hiding so no idea where he stands on almost anything. I think he'll say anything without meaning it just to get elected. Hunt might be ok, even if he is as boring as a potato. Gove speaks well but doesn't seem to have any concrete ideas on how to get the EU to change the agreement. Javid also doesn't know what to do but at least he's not an old school conservative brought up in a house with connections. Honest opinion: I think you're headed for a general election before the end of the year.
