Nobody with dual citizenship should be allowed in Parliament, and i would go further to say they should be banned from holding any positions of power, including within the judiciary or financial system
100% agree. I’d go even further and demand that their family who they directly descend from have at least 100 years of UK citizenship. They need to represent and be loyal to UK citizens, first and foremost. It is a direct conflict of interest with dual citizenship.
If he has got dual citizenship then he should be removed. If you are in parliament then you should be for the British People. You cannot have one foot in one country & the other foot in a different country.
agree. A citizen of one country cant logically be also a citizen of another country. It is easy enough for the authorities of the day to check the nationality of prospective people of this kind.
We actually *bought* those islands off of Mauritius, we didn’t just not give them back when the rest of Mauritius became independent. It’s already bizarre to give them back for free, it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the current government is actively trying to impoverish & disempower the UK by paying “compensation” for us having purchased something.
@@NormanCollier-nf7nu Yeah. It’s a perfectly common turn of phrase in colloquial English. I’m so sorry I offended your grammatical sensibilities by not using the more formal “from”… Pedant 🙄
I didn't know this so I looked it up. We paid three million pounds for them in 1965. We should at least get that back plus inflation! I expect the government don't know we bought them since they're seemingly ignorant of many things.
The Brits forced the natives off the Islands during the 60's and 70's so it's only RIGHT that the Brits hand the Islands back 👍 Would you like to be forced from your home?
Exactly ! The WHOLE woke movement is to erode the nation from within, while this lot wreck the economy from ever recovering. And I'm sure its just a coincidence that the Leftists in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, have ALL been doing the same. Wreck the economy and brainwash the gullible that it has ALWAYS been that way
@@ShimaKiyoshiIn truth this is crazy, ceding those Islands is enormously harmful for England and its allies, especially in the military field, it is pure and simple treason and on top of that the British government will pay India millions of pounds until 2123, it not only hands over British territory, it establishes a long-term commitment.
Lammy is a disgrace, his party are an even bigger disgrace. In short we should expect nothing less from them. This country is amazing at giving money away to other nations.

And where would certain criminals retreat to once they'd committed their crimes in Europe and could go 'home' to full immunity? Does anyone remember a gang pretending to be French ministers and conning millions out of French citizens? Even the French couldn't get justice as I recall. They gained a complete pardon from their government who grants automatic citizenship to them. I'll have to research that story again now. Serves me right. Edit. found it. 29th August 2015. In the publication I read, it served as one example of many. It was Africans they conned, not French.
Totally agree, us in the UK have had people go back to place's like Iran (dual citizenship) then arrested and their families going on TV crying for help. Then complaining it took four or five year's. The Chinese don't recognise it either, if you are stupid enough to travel on one and that country arrests you tough
Everything Mr Webb says here is true. Someone of Lamy's profile is never going to be proud of Britain's colonial past, nor in favour of promoting her prestige and unique, historical identity.

Lammy is embarrassing to Britain. Chagos has nothing to do with Mauritius. It is nearer the Maldives and India . First settled by the French in 1770. It was uninhabited before.
@@Occident. Simon’s favourite bunch actually do get that if they are born in America or Israel. They are the only ones who get dual citizenship automatically.
A minister with dual citizenship. Dual allegiance. A recipe for the downfall of any nation that permits such a folly. In the words of the late great Enoch Powell. We must be mad. Absolutely mad.
@@MarjorieDuncan-lk7lz Most certainly. For example if you were to immigrate to the USA. After jumping through the considerable amount of hoops and obstacles. You are finally asked to renounce citizenship and allegiance to your former nation and pledge allegiance to the USA. Then sign a document to that effect. So there is no conflict of interest and no confusion pertaining to the fact. You have effectively no loyalty to your country of birth. Including being willing to take up arms against them. Should they become a enemy of the USA. Effectively pledging you will kill if necessary the countryman of your land of birth.
sadly the very first thing Blair did after he got into govt was remove the death penalty from the crime of treason ... they knew exactly what they wouldf be doing
Unbelievable- China pretty much owns Mauritius. It is also incredible because Chagos territorial waters are huge and classified as a marine reserve (biggest in the world) . I suspect the Chinese will be hoovering up everything that has been safe there for years
The Chagos islands were uninhabited before the French claimed them. There was no native population, workers were brought in when the French set up coconut plantations. They lived in accommodation provided by the company and owned no land or property. "By 1964, 80% of the population were Seychellois under 18-month or 2-year contracts". The British Government paid £650,000 for compensation to the 426 Ilois families [those of third generation descendants] displaced to Mauritius. The British Government gave a further £4 million to the surviving Chagossians on the express condition that all Chagossians sign a "full and final" document renouncing any right of return to the island". In 2012 the European Court of Human Rights ruled that as they had already been compensated, the case was inadmissible. The islands are a British Indian Ocean Territory since 1965 and been under continuous British sovereignty since 1814. Mauritius has never held sovereignty over the islands.
I would say that they should be of English, Scottish, Northern Irish or Welsh ancestry, as the term British has been watered down to include anyone that just turns up here.
It would be better if anyone standing for public office was ethnically English,Welsh, Scottish or Irish. And I don’t mean Scottish like Hamza Yousaf!! British citizenship is handed out like confetti…..

Every fully British left winger who asserts that anybody born in Britain is asBritish as themselves, always also quickly admits that if their parents had moved to India when they were pregnant with them and they had been born there, that this would not make them Indian. As I stated just the other day, Lammy is a real 'Foreign' secretary. Also, to claim someone is a national of any country they just happen to have been born in, is nonsense. We all, including Lammy, look back on our ancestral heritage to determine who we are, not the accident of birth.
I mentioned exactly this about David Lammy, on two other sites yesterday, that other countries do not allow, any non-indigenous of foreign origin, in their governments. Also mentioned it about Dawn Butler, that she should repatriate herself to where her loyalties lie! Have been saying for years, we should ban dual passports, you are either in or you are out!
Our leaders want to prove all their ancestors wrong n to prove the world is full of kind trustworthy people, thats why our country is getting trashed, imo.
Lammy is not qualified to be Foreign Secretary or any other Secretary for that matter. We are witnessing the beginning of the end. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Sunak, Lammy, Kemi etc, are all international citizens and not British Nationals in the true sense of the word so dual interests are the future in British politics I fear.
The example of Sunak justifies the point being made - his actions post election - his noticeable absence from presenting the opposition to Starmer leaving it to his potential successors is spot on
Im not sure of your example of Kemi B she does seem to have Britains interests at heart in the absence of any other Tory or any of the imbeciles in Labour she does seem to speak passionately and factualy ? However i will be voting Reform

Here are some points 1. The area isn't called CHAGOS it is called THE BRITISH INDIAN OCEAN TERRITORY 2. the population were not native to the BIOT but were indentured slaves brought to the area by the FRENCH 3. Mauritius is nowhere close to BIOT 4. Only 1000 BIOT workers were relocated to Mauritius and the Seychelles, all were compensated 5. The BIOT is one of the largest wildlife sanctuarys in the world and once Mauritius gets its greedy paws on the islands expect total destruction of these rare sea and land natural wonders. 5. Why doesn't France get pressured to give up its huge Colony in Guyana or the huge Pacific and Caribbean areas it controls? SAVE OUR BRITISH ISLANDS 🇮🇴 BEFORE THE INDIAN AND CHINESE GET THEM FROM A ROGUE SEMI INDIAN REPUBLIC CALLED MAURITIUS
Yes it was uninhabited when discovered by the Portuguese in 1536. Mauritius was uninhabited when discovered too. Despite being near the African continent.
Why wont they disclose the amount after they have done the deal…? I thought the days of throwing taxpayers money into the abyss was over ? It’s not the price of a cup of coffee is it ?
He is without doubt, a simpleton. He is anti-British and therefore, a traitor. It is worth noting that James Cleverly, who was Foreign Secretary under Sunak's disastrous reign, was the one who proposed this, which was then passed onto David Cameron, who became Foreign Secretary briefly, before Sunak jumped ship. The spectacularly dim-witted Lammy has simply "dotted the i's and crossed the t's". Who among us do not think, "hmmm.....Indian Ocean - China - what could go wrong?!
More importantly he's stolen actual strategic land from us and given some tax money away for a century...no consent from any uk human being. How the f can that happen???!!! We thought we were in a democracy. That land should stay strategic, and our pensioners have our money!!!

It has long been a "hobbyhorse" of mine that nobody who holds British citizenship should hold citizenship in any other country and certainly not be a member of Parliament. It is noticeable that these people are not solely loyal to this country, always thinking what will mum, dad or grandparents think of me or even worse they see another country as their homeland.
If you can trace several generations of your ancestors in this country then you are British. You will automatically share culture and history and a love of British life.
Well we've already given away large parts of this country so what difference does a few Indian ocean atolls make?? Don't give them any cash though, and lammy should not even be an MP not only on grounds of nationality but STUPIDITY as well!!!!
The BBC did not report that we would be paying Mauritius money for 100 years, how much, (the pensioners winter payment? ),and why aren't the Americans paying they have the base????
I'm no imperialist, but the fact is the Chaggos island was uninhabited when discovered by the Portuguese in 1535? We should have held onto them? They could be valuable.
To be fair, the Tories started the process several years ago. Britain is clearly in terminal decline not just externally but internally as well. As for Labour, they seem determined to speed up this process with breakneck speed

It is proposed that a debate will be held in Parliament on Tuesday, followed in by a vote on the Chagos Islands. I anticipate that the Speaker will attempt to block it. If it goes ahead, and there is a vote, every Labour MP will be ordered to vote with the Government, or be expelled from the party.
