BRITANNIA TO INVEST ALMOST 400CR INR IN BENGAL | TARATALA FACTORY OF BRITANNIA IS SHUT DOWN

Britannia is a old FMCG company head quarter in Kolkata, recently it has shut down it's 2nd old factory of Taratala in Kolkata but it's not that the company is gone away from Kolkata,
Company has changed it's manufacturing strategy from single manufacturing to contract manufacturing.
Britannia has a contract manufacturing deal with Ganges Valley Foods in Dankuni West Bengal,
Dankuni is the recent time's food production hub with lot of manufacturing hub such as Kaventer and ITC,
Britannia is not only shutting single oparetional their unit in Kolkata only the same thing happened in Mumbai and Chennai too.
At present probably Britannia in dankuni dealing as contract manufacturing with Bhagwati biscuits.
At the end it's contract manufacturing.

ছোট থেকে বীটানিয়া খেয়ে বড় হয়েছি। তাই তার সম্বন্ধে কিছু বললে গায়ে লাগে। এখন ও দোকানে গেলে আগে গিয়ে বীটানিয়া বিস্কুটের দিকে হাত চলে যায়। কিছুদিন আগে কানাডা থেকে ঘুরে এলাম। ওখানে ভারতীয় দোকান আছে। কিন্তূ বিদেশী দোকান গুলো তে ও বীটানিয়া পাওয়া যায়। তাই তার সম্পর্কে কেউ খারাপ বললে গায়ে লাগে।

Besides kolkata, they have closed their factories in Mumbai and chennai as well, its part of business restructuring wherein they are closing down old units across the country and going the contract manufacturing way. They have given vrs to their employees of these units

I just do not think the WB government should focus on industrialization at all. Even the few industries that are still left in the state should be shut down in the near future. The government will win elections without any development, and their voters do not expect any industry from them. Moreover, as we see big companies like Micron, Tesla, and Samsung investing in India, WB is nowhere in that scene, not even as a prospective state for negotiations with these companies. I just don't see the point of all the hue and cry about whether a small company like Britannia operates in the state or not.

The Taratala unit was the 3rd unit to close after Britannia shut down its Mumbai and Chennai unit as well. Britannia is focusing on closing down older, less efficient factories near city centres and establishing state-of-the-art facilities with higher production volume. Britannia is opening a new unit in Dhulagori and has existing contract manufacturing unit in Dankuni.

You are clearly bypassing the real problem and trying to suppress the fact. One of the employees of the company has commented that Ganges Valley is closed for the last 5 years. Why the present employees are being asked to opt for VRS scheme instead of shifting them to their new organization.? Try to admit the truth. You are requested to make research on 1) closed Dunlop Tyre manufacturing company 2) closed car (Ambassador) company 3) closed jute manufacturing companies 4) closed Bharat ophthalmic glass factory 5) Rupnarayanpur Cables factory 6) Bridge and Roof Company 7) Pilkinton Glass factory 8) Sen Raleigh Cycle company 9) Bengal Paper Mill 10) MAMC (Mining & Allied Machinery Corporation etc. in thousands of people have become jobless.
