Scots Guards Caterham Company 89, Sgt Smith Grenadier Guards, LSgt Fernie SG, LSgt Williams WG LSgt Gonzo Mcewan SG & LSgt Jones 90 WG absolute beast masters on the square. We screwed up on the square in No2 dress absolute shambles then beasted up & down the Sand Hill.💂‍♂️🔵🔴🔵💂‍♂️

I went through Pirbright 20 years before this was shot, 1978, this brings back some memory's sure it was 26 weeks training not 11 weeks back then, things I remember most is that drill square that looks still the same, as a Life guard the other foot regiments didn't like us especially the NCOs and trained soldiers they were very sadistic towards us Household Caverly guys, on the final live shooting thing you did before passing out Parade ( as I found out later ) a Coldstream Lance Sergeant went into the arms store and messed with the sights on our LSR sights, ( I still Rember your name Lance Sargent (Oli***) never have forgiven you for that, of course we couldn't hit anything, can't have a tin head donkey Wolliper beating you with your own weapon, anyway of the 50 or so who started I think about 34 made it to the end, broken leg broken arm (back squadded) and other reasons, of the ones left over the years I have found out some have departed early, the Falklands, accidents, especially drink driving, even a Murderer who got locked up for life. Glad I went through it, though I hated it, like to think it has made me a better person. Ex Caterham Company Spring 1978.

Takes me back to the guards depot 1986, started off as a rabble then got turned into smart soldiers by the end of it all, hard work and I wouldn't want to go through it again.

Not that I realised it at the time , but it was the making of me. Still never understood why they put a cavalry man through it.

I recognised Dean Speke, Chris Cook, Steve Allen, Chicken Hughes, Chris Oldfield and I think Smudge Smith as L/Sgt instructor on the square.

This brings back memories way back in 1974. Your pond looks awesome, I had to fill mine in when three grandchildren appeared 😂 still miss it.

I'm sure that was l/Sgt Hardy Alma platoon, this brings back memories beyond belief
