Franco should have liberated Gibraltar in July 1940.

Would have just ended the war quicker for the allies. Even Franco knew this and did not attack out of fear of British occupation of Spanish territory. Spain had no real army to fight with and would have immediately been embargoed for the decision. Spain was a bit like Italy in the war, and seeing what happened to them in the desert probably scared Spain away. They knew had they have taken 'the rock' that they would be the first to get invaded. Spain played it well during the war.

@@saldjkalskdjasldkja Churchill only narrowly survived the May 1940 War Cabinet Crisis, thanks to Chamberlain's support. If the Axis had taken Gibraltar it would have been game over for the Zionist traitor Churchill. Italy was winning in North Africa in 1940. The UK did not have the ability to invade Spain or France.

@@saldjkalskdjasldkja as you say it would have given the Allies the pretext to invade Spain , which gives them access to the southern french border, a more substantial foothold in the med. Also Spain would probaly be like Italy with a significant portion of it's population, i.e republicans seeing it as a great way to get rid of Franco, and join the War effort, (they where hardly friends of Nazi Germany) It could have negated the need for D-Day or at least meant the Germans had to defend the Southern French border, greatly weakening their defence of Northern France, Low Countries. The other altenative would be Germany would have to split it's forces more and bolster Spain, which again weakens all it's other fronts. Hitler was probaly relieved in a way Franco kept out of it and meant Spain was not in play

The Gibraltarians themselves don't want to join Spain
