Two hundred and three new members of the Gurkhas are celebrating the completion of their initial training at Infantry Training Centre Catterick.
It follows nine months of phase one and phase two infantry training, during which time the recruits have learned everything from digging trenches to complex section attacks.
They have finessed the art of Gurkha infantry under the watchful eyes of the permanent staff, since the process began in February upon their early-morning arrival at Manchester airport.

They also love us and our country. My older retired Gurkha friends love Britain and are so proud to be British I can tell you first hand. When they have their community meetings where they wear traditional dress, sing and dance they always play the national anthem. Even at their family weddings they invite members of the armed forces and I’m on about us white people. Because of the Gurkhas in Derby I’ve been to Nepal and can speak a little. What other people invite you to stay in their house with their family in Kathmandu eh? They treated me better than family and looked after me. Yes it’s hard in Nepal we have it easy here in the UK I can tell you. So there is an element of doing better for them and families, but at what cost? Potentially their own life as I know from stories fighting for us many have paid the ultimate price. It can also be hard maintaining what everyone expects a Gurkha to be as those before them have lived up to be. Thulo respect Gurkhaharu ko laggi 👍🇳🇵🇬🇧

I have 👍 I told the guard on the camp gates to tell them how proud we are of them in Britain. I’ve also seen the mountains they run up, all I’m going to say is in the UK our hills and mountains are like a toy set compared to Nepal. They are just so steep and tall.

@stever456
@stever456 9 месяцев назад
@@malcpaul996 I went in February and stayed with a retired Gurkha and his family in Kathmandu before going to Bandipur and Pokhara. I only got to know them through working at Rolls Royce in Derby as they are on security. Chatted learnt and spoke some Nepali for what around 2 years. So the guy I stayed with (was in Gurkha engineers) I only knew through work. They must have all spoken together as when I was speaking to another who was the guy teaching me Nepali the most even he said well we can tell your a good guy when I said how honoured I was to be staying at a Gurkhas house in Nepal. I was going to hire an off road bike in KTM but crapped myself when I saw the driving there. Even as an ex supermoto racer no way did I want to ride in that traffic 😂😂 But I quickly got used to it and could cross the road faster than Durga, he laughed about that. But I hired an off road bike in Pokhara, and yes the roads can be so rough it was a crazy fun time that was dangerous too, the road up-to the World Peace Pagoda has no barriers and is so steep and twisty and in places like an off road dirt track 😂 Respect to them all. They are all clean, have some colourful houses and amazing food. Yet some clean clothes in streams, I felt so safe no one ever bothered me or messed about with my motorbike or helmet I would leave on the handle bars either in or around Pokhara. It was great, they didn’t even watch me the only white guy riding and walking about in their areas. I didn’t really go to tourist places only local ones as I can speak some Nepali 👍 They made me happy and I made them happy being able to chat and order food in Nepali and tell them I don’t want it to spicy as I’m white 😂👍🇳🇵 There is a pot hole on the main road around Phewa Lake, it’s north near a bus park just after Bishnu Homestay (which is amazing). It makes our pot holes look like small indentations, this one you can fall in to. How no one crashes into it at night I don’t know. Amazing country amazing people. It’s a shame I didn’t have longer in Nepal, the owner of the Mount Everest restaurant in Derby wanted to take me to his village to see but there wasn’t the time. That’s the thing isn’t it? You speak to one and before you know they all know of you and want to chat and ask if you liked Nepal and invite you to their homes. Check out my review of Derby Rickshaw Indian street food on Google. I went there recently and the head chef who is Nepali knew who I was but I didn’t know him, he is in the same family of those I stayed with in Nepal and had seen pictures of me in Kathmandu! He’s asked me to come to his house one day for a Nepali meal, it’s like you join a huge family where everyone is welcome. I’ve told all the guys I know they are special and should be respected and they do like it. Just love them all amazing guys, years ago they were elite fighters. Now relaxing and teaching us anything we want to know about Nepal and their culture. I get messages now and again inviting me and saying their wives are cooking me some food and to come and pick it up. Ma Nepal miss garchu 🇳🇵🇬🇧🥰
