America was fortunate to have founding fathers heavily influenced by the philosophers of their home country, Britain. Most of them were creatures of the enlightenment and they understood that people are naturally corrupt and prone to tyranny. That is why the US government is divided into three sections: the excitative, the legislative, and the judicial with checks and balances to keep any one from getting too powerful. Of course, it never works perfectly because people are seriously flawed. The understanding of the flaws of people is absolutely necessary. I think that since then Britain has evolved its own governmental institutions along similar lines because, after all, they had the some philosophers.

"Amendment One" is commonly shorthanded as "freedom of speech" and generally agreed on as most important due to it being first. "Amendment two" is usually shothanded, as you said, "the right to keep and bear arms." It is often considered second most imortant dur to allowing for self protection from threats in general be they from simply the wilds of nature or human in origin. It is what is being refered to in the many variations of the joke "it's there in case the first one just doesn't quite work out" sure, but is there for more than just that reason.

Numbers vary, but from all the different sources I've read, I think there's somewhere around 80 million legal gun owners. They have pistols, rifles and shotguns. Probably plenty of ammo too. You can order it in bulk and get a discount. It's not weird to do either. Some gun ranges charge by how many guns you bring, but you can stay all day. Others charge per hour. I've seen hunters with two rifles and their ammo reloading gear sit all day to perfect the best 400 yd target round. I've also seen a guy breaking in his new pistol and fire 400 rds in one hour. This doesn't even count the ILLEGAL gun owners. Gang members, felons, domestic violence offenders, formerly mentally institutionalized, drug users, etc. Think about it this way: On your average suburban street in the US, there's 10 - 20 Armories with firearms to pass out to willing neighbors. The rural areas you say? I've seen a 12 YO girl kill a running feral hog with a .22 from 60 yards.

Yes, the 2nd Amendment is the Right to bear Arms. This is the major answer to so many people who ask - "Why are Americans "obsessed" with guns?" We are NOT obsessed with guns , we are obsessed with FREEDOM. And our Constitution states that the government is not allowed to infringe upon our ability to remove said government. I know we have a reputation for being arrogant but the fact of the matter is that America IS an exceptional nation. We are the only country in earth's history to have written into our foundational laws the right to overthrow the government. (there were at least 2 other nations with the right to bear arms but these days you can't get guns in those places unless you're some kind of drug cartel or war Lord) My statement about overthrowing the government is a bit simplified but even Abraham Lincoln acknowledged our "Right to Rebel" during the American Civil War, or the War of Northern Aggression as it was called in the South. But still, ....... where else on Earth ........?

This is a relatively new narrative developing out of the old debate between self hating Americans or American detractors and jingoistic self promoting Americans as to the origins of seeming American 'exceptionalism'. The former said it was purely the luck of geography and the latter some mystical, inherent, unexplained deserved blessing. More moderate academics tended to point out that the American rise and predominance came about purely as a result of being able to fuse disparate groups together into one united national government at least as far as a military force. Instead of constant internal warring on national, ethnic, religious basis as has been the case throughout European history the U.S. managed to limit warfare on a vast landmass to one conflagration in more than 200 years. The European Coal and Steel Community, the predecessor to the European Common Market and later the European Union was created for a similar purpose. It was felt that if coal and steel, the two natural resources that European nations most often fought over and most needed to fight, were collectivized then wars inside Europe could be limited. It has largely worked within those boundaries almost as well as the federal union in the United States. Access to abundant resources and at least a common language and general common culture help to ease internal conflicts and reel in imperialistic tendencies but a strong but loose federation of smaller states and the resultant decades of peace are the real.power builders. The U.S. federal system, while maddingly slow and cumbersome in addressing some grievous injustices, is the best on earth at maintaining unity....so far at least.

The use of "Executive Order" in the US in this context is misleading. The original purpose of the EO was to allow the POTUS to manage the Executive Branch of the US Government. "Article Two of the United States Constitution gives presidents broad executive and enforcement authority to use their discretion to determine how to enforce the law or to otherwise manage the resources and staff of the executive branch. Unfortunately, Presidents have abused that authority and have been using EOs to pass a much broader spectrum of laws. Examples of this include, foodstamp expansion, student loan forgiveness, and so on. None of these examples fall under the perview of managing the Executive Branch of the US Government.

Do not be fooled by the explanation of an Executive Order. It in no way resembles a law. An executive order ONLY applies to the Executive branch of the government. It does not, and cannot, apply to the Judicial or Legislative branch. It is, basically, an order from the head of the Executive branch (the President) that applies only to members of the executive branch. A great many of the citizens of the U.K. cannot understand why America is "gun crazy" or why there was a need for the 2nd Amendment. Well, you can blame yourselves for that. Good old King George III and his army are responsible for that amendment. After just having run the British redcoats out of town on a rail, the last thing our founders wanted was for another tyrannical head of state to have unchecked power. Hence, the right to bear arms. Many anti-gun wackos point to the "well regulated Milita" part of the amendment to argue that there is no Militia so there is no need to bear arms. The Amendment does not require a militia; it provides for a ready supply of armed citizens to organize that "well regulated Militia" in case the nightmare of nightmares happens and we are forced to take up arms against our own government. Too many democracies around the world have a mindset reflected in the ways their laws are written that basically state "that which is not allowed, is forbidden." Our philosophy is one in which "that which is not forbidden, is allowed." Our founders believed, and so do a vast majority of Americans, that all the rights we have were not granted to us by the government, but are natural, human rights that every human on this planet are entitled to. The only thing the Constitution does is codify those rights. Also, through the 9th and 10 Amendments, it restricts the reach of the government and limits it to the rights and duties granted to it by the Constitution.

Actually as a political scientist I would say in national politics the US Senate not the President is the most important. Because the US is a Constitutional Federal Representative Republic with most of day to day life governed by state and local law if your talking about 90% of things a citizen deals with.

It may have been harsh but let's face it, the places the UK went are still more successful than the surrounding places they did not once occupy. I think there would be a lot more third world countries stuck in the past and starving without the structure and ties to the bigger world. We now have an extremist in that has did his best to break this place and bow down to China and send money everywhere but to the people that paid for it. I remember no wars, peace agreements in the Middle East, a banging economy as industries started coming home with the last guy, but now it is a cluster from top to bottom with so much violence in five of our biggest cities weirdly controlled by the democrats for decades making it look must more violent by far. If you drop the five cities we go from the top 5 to around 100 in gun violence. You get high profile alarming cases of these terrible shootings ran constantly if the shooter and people shot fit the narrative and the others fade quickly and the people doing them are mentally unwell and usually highly medicated. The weekly gun violence in Chicago with some of the strictest gun laws in the country has spiraled out of control but the mass shootings there are classed as gang violence or other titles so they do not posses the trigger word and fall into another class the media avoids like the plague. Memorial Day had over 50 people shot and 12 killed but the people and media do not care about these people because it is hard to maximize profit from it. Never believe anything from the media here until you triple check. Sorry in a hurry so probably bad grammar above.

Canada also has the shield. A permanent dome of cold air that just refuses to budge anything north of say Toronto and it’s a literal glacier most of the year. Even Calgary is stuck in the cold. It’s near impossible to invade as your equipment would freeze and then lose people would start dying because nothing can get in or out. Canada really only has three decent cities Toronto, Calgary, and possibly Niagara Falls. Edmonton is a business city and a hub area. Other than that not much is out there except some small towns and wilderness.

Unfortunately, Canada is a socialist extreme country these days. The fact that they keep voting in the fool PM is what they are all about. If you want to be a criminal with minimal consequences, and liberal, go to Canada. Check the facts.

That ending was a bit... misleading. Yeah, we have the right, and in fact the duty, to band together to overthrow a government that's become tyrannical. And we have more firearms in private hands than any military on the planet. But that glosses over the fact that we wouldn't ALL be united. Some people would support the tyrants because it would be in those folk's best interests. The deciding factor would always come down to how many civilians and military would support the tyrants, and how many would oppose them. That's a test I hope will never come again. The US Civil War already proved that people will pick sides, are willing to fight and die for what they believe to be right, even if they are very much in the wrong. It'd be an ugly thing. I doubt there would be any winners, just survivors. I pray that never happens.

This video is so inaccurate now. I am a 60 year Old Citizen and I have seen many Presidents come and go but America has almost been destroyed in the last 3 years through Government Corruption, Subversion and Treason, which was started during the Kennedy administration and his assasination by the CIA and industrial military complex and then excelerated during both Bushes and the Clinton Obama administrations. Come and ask the average "honest non programed" Non-Communist Socialist American citizen and see what they say about America. You couldn't pay me enough money to leave Texas to visit Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Seattle or many other Liberal hellholes. These videos are Great for fun and past education but they no longer paint an accurate portrait of American Day to Day Life and if you do come to Visit America Beesleys don't go back to any Liberal Cities you will NOT be safe.
