James and Millie, the ball at 3:05 was tipped over the outfield fence in fair territory without it hitting the ground, so that one was a home run. The ball at 7:12 was also over the fence, but that play occurred in foul territory, so it just counted as a strike. Fair territory is the area between the white lines that extend from home plate, past first base to the outfield fence in right field, and the similar line that extends from home plate past third base to the left field fence. Everything outside that area is foul territory.

7:09 That is called a foul ball. And yes the fans can keep a ball hit into the stands as well. Home runs only occur when the ball is hit over the fence in fair territory. (There's also inside the park home runs, but I won't get into that) So unlike cricket, or what I know about it, where fair territory is, I believe a 360° playing field, there are foul lines in baseball. This play occurred outside of the foul lines, therefore he was trying to catch a foul ball and not a home run.

Reno only has a minor league "Ace's" but it makes for a damn good time on a Summer night. During the 'stretch' there's always contest where the whole audiences section win prizes (AKA food/drink). My favorite is where people race to see who can put on a tee that is frozen solid wet; and the prize cannons that shoot into the crowd. It's a nice break from all the casino glam.

They're one of the most gentle breeds of dog in the world. So while they may look intimidating, they are almost always really sweet and friendly. When a ball goes into the stands the fans are permitted to keep the ball. If they are in home run territory all runners score. If they are in foul territory it just counts as a strike. If it bounces off the ground and into the stands it's a ground rule double
@chrisjohnson1599
@chrisjohnson1599 Год назад
If it is in FAIR TERRITORY and goes into the stands without hitting the ground, it is a homerun. If it hit the ground in fair territory and bounced over the fence or anywhere "out of play", it is a "ground rule double". If it lands over a wall or out of play after being hit by the batter, it is a "foul ball" and a strike is added to the batter's count except you can only strike out on a foul "bunt". If a throw goes out of play, all runners are allowed free passage to the base they were running to, plus one additional base.

7:25 Fans can keep home runs and foul balls over the wall. Home runs are hits over only a certain part of the back wall in which you and your runners score. Foul balls are hits that are in the out of play area and count as a strike for the batter also potentially an out if the defense catches it in the air. Hence why he dove into the stands for it.

You should react to "MLB Inside The Park Home Runs Compilation" by Made the Cut and "MLB Players Stealing Home!" by MLB! Inside-the-park home runs and steals of home are two of the most exciting plays in baseball! I was at the Chicago Cubs vs. Detroit Tigers home game on July 4, 2018, and Javier Baez (of the Cubs) stole home after the pitcher threw to first base with runners on 1st and 3rd - it was an exciting play, and one I will never forget!

@covewatcher Год назад
Hi James... you were both right and wrong in the same sentence. The fans do in fact always get to keep the ball that goes into the stands anywhere in the ballpark. However, it is only a home run (run around and touch all of the bases) if it goes over the wall in fair territory. The clip you mentioned that about was a foul ball that went into the stands in foul territory, thus it is a strike and not a home run. BUT... you are definitely getting way better at understanding baseball! Cheers to you for that!

A home run is only when the ball goes over the fence straight ahead of home plate. If it is anywhere back or to the right on the right side and left on the left side of the foul poles/lines then it is a foul ball and it counts as a strike for the first 2 strikes. Once the batter has 2 strikes, a foul ball doesn’t count as anything. The players try to catch it if it is a foul ball because it can still count as an out if it is caught, but the player can’t get on base from a foul ball
@christophermckinney3924
@christophermckinney3924 Год назад
If the ball is hit into the crowd the fan who catches it can keep it. If it’s hit in fair territory (between the foul poles) it’s a home run and all the players on base score. If it’s hit outside the foul poles it is a foul ball and no players can advance on the bases.

Yes, if a ball goes into the stands, the fan that ends up with it gets to keep it. What’s beautiful is when that person gives it to a kid, nearby! The variables are when the ball is in the stands because of an important hit; first home run, a remarkable home run like the one that long time great player Albert Pujols recently hit that put him in the 700 career home run club…in which case, the fan is not required to give it back, but they are encouraged by being offered a signed bat or other signed equipment, and/or to meet the player. In the case of the fan who got the fore mentioned Pujols 700th home run ball, he stands to make a lot of money by selling it on the open market….so Albert and the Saint Luis Cardinals have their work cut out for them trying to get it from that person!

The one clip of a first base player trying to catch a foul ball about seven minutes in; Millie asks if the fan gets to keep the ball (See Summer Givens reply) James said "Yes and the runners get to go around the bases." Sorry James. You're thinking of a Home Run (which can occasionally happen even if the ball remains in play.) What was showing was a foul ball - a ball hit outside of the lines along the side of the field. In that case the batter can not advance and might have a strike called against him (her in most junior leagues now) if the batter does not already have two strikes. Normally the runners already on the bases may not advance either. Yeah, it's a simple game.

Hello Beesleys, In one of your other videos you asked about sales tax. First you have to understand how our government is set up. The states have all the power except those granted to Congress. Both Congress and the states have taxing authority. Some states have income tax, some do not. As far as sales tax, each state controls its sales tax. Some states have sales tax on everything. Some states exempt some things, like drugs or food. Each state sets the percent of the tax. In Virginia, it is 5.4%. In some states they let local governing bodies add to the percentage. As far as a national sales tax, there was an idea for Congress to pass such a tax, but there was a big push back. When you ask why there is not a national act for something, remember how our Constitution sets up our government. The states are sovereign. The police powers are vested in them Congress only has the powers listed in the Constitution. I hope this helps you understand why things work the way they do.

7:30, not quite James. If the ball clears the outfield wall, it’s a home run and any runners on base score as well. What Beaty was chasing down in that shot was a foul ball. The baseball diamond has the two long straight lines going down the 1st and 3rd base lines. Balls inside of those lines are fair, outside they are foul. Any ball in the air is in play, regardless of fair or foul territory. By dropping the ball, the play ends, the batter tries again, any runners that attempted to advance return to their original base. No scoring happens.

I haven't been to a Dodger game in years. My Mom and I used to go to games. The games I got really involved: With my baseball glove for any possible foul balls, my ballcap and/or team appeal, a radio to listen to the Great Vin Scully calling the Dodger games, a program/scorecard (I actually kept score), keeping my head in the game, buy an occasional Dodger souvenir, eat a Dodger Dog/peanuts/soda/Cracker Jack's/cheese nachos/hamburger (Not all at once or every game.) Good times. Before she died she was starting to have mobility problems that could've been worked out in hindsight. She did listen to the game on the radio or watch it on TV. But we stopped going. After she died, I really lost interest. My single Mom raising a son. Oh, I better stop I'm starting to get my "ALLERGY" again. (With the watery eyes.) Some clarity: Dodger Dog (An extra long hotdog), Cracker Jacks ( A box of Carmel coated popcorn and peanuts with a toy surprise inside.) Cheese nachos (Corn torilla chips aka Crisps covered with melted yellow nacho cheese sauce and extra toppings if you like.) Vin Scully on the radio/TV calling games (He told what kind of pitches were thrown, told funny stories, information about the players lives & stats, come up with colorful descriptions/words, he KNEW THE GAME. How to call it. Not a talking head. Yes, baseball is slow at times. The game is not just about scoring runs or the hitting a home run. Sometimes the pitchers are pitching so well that the other teams hitters aren't able to get a hit. That is exciting as well especially when both pitchers are having a pitching duel. You hope and anticipate someone will get a hit. Baseball anything can happen. A foul ball, a hit, a strikeout, a runner stealing a base, errors, a homerun, some special event between innings, etc. It not boring. Perhaps the it's you who are boring. You can find ways to get over the slow parts. Like learning how to score a game. That way you're more interested in every play.

1.2K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍. Thanks for the fun, digital video recording! 🎬🖖✌️🖐️🙏😀😄⚾🤔👍😺😎🤓🤠 Notes: The video that you viewed was new to me, so thanks for that too! Spam callers kept interrupting though, so there was some difficulty there. I had to undo an unintentional "Dislike", and start over a few times,😣.

Yes, MLB stands for Major League Baeball, which is made up of two leagues, the National League and the Amercan League. There are 15 teams in each league, who play a 162-game schedule from the beginning of April until the end of September. The league championship playoffs and World Series are played in October. Baseball is our oldest team sport in America, with the National League beginning play in 1876, and the American League in 1900. If you're wondering why they're not named the National or American Baseball Leagues, it's because the National League's name when it was founded in 1876 was the Natonal League of Professional Baseball Clubs. The American League followed suit when it started in 1900.

The more baseball reactions the better! 🙂 I highly recommend watching this one, it's Lou Gehrig's FULL "luckiest man alive" speech, very emotional and inspiring. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4DWNOa6dJ6o.html
