For the best fish and chips in Edinburgh go to the City Restaurant, next door to The Festival Theatre on Nicolson Street (do NOT make the mistake of going to the similarly named = and also close by - City Cafe). I recommend that you sit in (it's also a "takeaway" establishment). And be sure to ask for Haddock, not Cod. Please do this or I'll burst into tears!

Loved this video. I cried when I seen you were in Anstruther for the fish and chips and visited Pittenweem. I recently lost both parents and they got married in Pittenweem, it was our yearly holiday and always went to Anstruther for the fish and chips. Loved the reaction from you both. It really is the best you'll ever have 💙💙💙

Well, I've been to Whitby so the bar is pretty high but, when I lived in Dublin (Phibsborough) there was a "world famous" chipper just round the corner. Can't remember the name and it's closed down now but it wasn't very good and very expensive. Must've been good marketing.

If you ever get to North Yorkshire, and you should or you will miss something special, there is a small fishing town called Whitby. I think you would both love it. Whitby is mentioned in Bram Stokers 'Dracula' and there is a Gothic festival every year where people dress up for the occasion. Whitby is also where you can get, (IMO) the best Fish n Chips in England - there are plenty of places to get fish & Chips and the one to look for is just over the little bridge in the harbour, however, the most popular one is called 'The Magpie' people queue for their fish & Chips you can eat in or out - Whitby is a great place and there are many picturesque villages and towns to visit. Hope you do get there as it would be a shame if you missed it.

I don't normally watch travel programmes because the big TV productions fail to connect, but I have to say, you two are brilliant! "The Endless Adventure," is my one and only travel programme. I love you're style and what's really great is that even in my own country (Britain), you've shown me loads of great little places I'd never have found if I hadn't watched, so thank you. If you love Scotland and you have about a week to spare you should walk the West Highland Way. It's 96 miles long but which for us was about 8 day hikes. We wild camped because we did it for charity, (Cancer Research UK) but you can day hike from hotels and B&B's along the way and they bus your luggage for you to each location. I can honestly say I have never walked anywhere as beautiful. We went mid May, the weather was hot but we avoided the midge season. Keep it up you two, best travel show there is. Jason.

The best rule is to have your fish 'n chips as close to the sea as possible. When I was younger, we had our fish 'n chips as a family at Skegness. However, we recently went to a seaside town called "Westward Ho!" And the warm gulf stream and white sandy beach made the fish 'n chips the best I ever had. I wish I could have some right now, and then go play with my family and friends in the warm water.

It's more of a North/South thing actually. Go anywhere in Yorkshire or Lancashire and I guarantee you're getting haddock. Although I met some Scottish people in the Lake District a year or so ago and when we told them we were from Yorkshire they said that we were alright by them because Yorkshire people are basically honorary Scots who just happen to live in England, so maybe that's why. 😂

Rule of thumb; if the queue for a chippy is out of the door it's a good one! Had the best cod and chips ever last night at Pick Ups in Crowborough, East Sussex. Had a medium portion of cod and chips and it almost beat me. Cod was cooked to perfection and just fell apart, batter crispy and the chips were light and fluffy but firm. 3 medium portions for about 15 quid. Perfect! Shame that I live in Eastbourne.

Best fish and chips by a long shot was at a little hillside fish market in Malibu, California. It was super fresh cod, the batter was puffy-crispy fabulous and it was cooked to perfection. That is true. Unfortunately many chip shops nowadays sell the soggy limp chips that have been sat there all day. There is an art to getting perfectly fried crispy chips. PS as a northern monkey I would have to put decent gravy, almost, on a par with the quality of the chips as a necessity. Is gravy common up in Scotland?

(There's also a cycle/walk route on a former railway line further inland that will take you even further to Clackmannan where you can check out the tower and stop for a drink, etc., then cycle back along the coast to Dunfermline. It's a very long walk or a decent day's ride.)

Looks like great fun. Keep traveling while you can because once you have kids, they really kill your mojo. I don't have any but I've seen it. Thanks for the great wildlife shots too.

Just stumbled across your channel from watching Kara and Nate, so I'm watching through all of your UK vlogs as I'm planning a trip there this summer. Thanks for sharing! To answer your question: the best fish and chips I've had was in Scotland, out on the Isle of Skye, at the Taigh Ailean hotel pub. So. Good.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day from Springfield, Missouri! You two undoubtedly really enjoyed your Scottish fish and chips! I just had fish and chips for dinner myself, to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. BUT both the battered fish fillets and the fries were frozen, and I bought them both at Walmart.

Etty Bay in Far North Queensland, Australia. The best fish and chips, but i am a local. Still the best I've had and have travelled Australia. I'm travelling to Scotland and Europe next year. My first time out of Australia, so hopefully i can try Scotland's fish and chips. Please visit the far north Queensland when you come over if you haven't already. Recommend from Cape tribulation through to Townsville stopping through all the places, waterfalls and beaches, sanctuary parks (kuranda markets) along the way. It's truly beautiful. I cannot forget you should visit the tablelands aswell. You'd love the tropical rainforest up here.

Glad you enjoyed the Fish n Chips. If you venture down the East coast of England, to Bridlington (East Yorkshire) then try Fish and Chips 149. They are also award winning and rather nice! Take away only though and reqular queues out of the door!

Anstruther Fish Bar no doubt, firsh went there in the late 80's when it was down the road where the other chippie is now. North Berwick Fish Bar also good in East Lothian near Edinburgh, you can get there by train or bus from the city and it a great little seaside town with nice beaches.

best fish and chips I've ever had is in Hunstanton, in Norfolk England. The batter was so crisp and tasty and the fish is sourced locally. Plus had it whilst sitting on the beach in the sun with my fiance! perfect!!!

It’s not really a place someone can go to but...When my dad was stationed at RAF Alconbury, with the USAF, in the early 80’s there was a truck that came though our village (Alwalton) and it was delicous! All they had was fish and chips and mushy peas.

It has to be 'The Magpie' in Whitby, North Yorkshire. Try not to go too much out of season, however, as I think was the mistake you made last year?! Everything was closed then... but its a great place if you hit it at the right time. Goth weekends during the spring and autumn (the next weekend actually), are good! If you like a walk... try the coastal path linking Whitby and the small fishing village of Robin Hoods Bay.

Whitby is the place to get fish&chips (NE coast England), you should get mushy peas with them also, maybe with mint sauce on the peas. The're supposed to be the best in Britain...

Mark Smith Is that Hodgson's Chippy on Prospect Street by any chance? I grew up in Lancaster (lived close by on Bowerham Road) and that was our regular. Always fantastic. I'm lucky that my new local (Clock Tower Fish Bar in Kingswood, Bristol) is also great!

The only meal I genuinely ever genuinely crave for is good old fish and chips. If done well, you just can't beat it. Living on the south coast near Brighton, there are lots of really excellent chippies. Having enjoyed your video, you can probably guess what I'm having for dinner tonight! All the best guys, keep up the great work. :-)

Southern chips....pah! Nothing without a fine gravy on top. Ketchup? No way. Go to McDonalds for some Yankee 'French Fries' if you want ketchup on chips.

What do you mean about southern chips and ketchup? The chips down here are from spuds, just as they are up north. I lived up north for 25 years and love chips and gravy too!
